I'd Rather be Vaping!

Dear Wonderful World of ECF,

My name is Domenic and I have not touched a regular cigarette since September 1st, 2011!

I started smoking at a young age and never considered putting the habit down. I really enjoyed the ritual of smoking! By 21 I smoked roughly 10 cigarettes a day, passing the other half out to friends and bums (the line blurs). As I inched towards 30, the need to stop permanently became a priority. My family, career, finances, and health were all glaring factors furthering my decision to quit. To no surprise, several attempts at quitting cold turkey ended poorly. I was unhappy with the thought of taking a prescription or applying a patch daily. Chew nicotine gum? No thanks. Frustration set in as I researched new ways to help free myself from addiction. Thankfully, a close friend offered me a solution in the shape of a pen. Although the concept was odd, the benefits were easy to see, and I became hooked on electronic cigarettes. No more tar, ash, or that wretched stench that comes from smoking. Also, I have not become sick once since I stopped! The list goes on, but the important part is I am no longer a part of the smoking community.

With a smoke-free year and a lot of research under my belt, I am happy to announce that an electronic cigarette was the deciding factor in my ability to walk away from a deadly habit. I have read quite a few success stories here on ECF and couldn't be happier to add mine to the pile! Good luck and happy vaping!

Sincerely,
Domenic

Vape, Vape...just keep the faith.
Its a healthy alternative and I'm glad that you made it to the ECF. I guess my only advice to you is to talk to the rocking people here at the ECF. There is a wealth of knowledge here about anything you could ever want to know including support to keep on going with vaping.
I'm more then sure you'll have withdraws, I did when I started..key is to find something else to distract you, vaping, playing video games, walk/jog or anything other then lighting up again. It will pass I promise, the E-Cig will reduce those cravings by a ton and half, and will allow you to gradually step down off the nic.
Welcome to the ECF, I'm happy that you decided to vape and kick the Ash :)

Thanks BWM and Off Topic, I spent a lot of time reading other people's starter threads. That helped me understand the pitfalls associated with transitioning to vaping. However, I cannot imagine the amount of time I spent researching equipment, haha! I enjoy checking out custom setups here on ECF and mods are intriguing, but I aim for a reliable setup with minimal maintenance to ensure there is no window for screwing up on my end.

Currently vaping with an eGo-C Twist 650 and ViVi Nova 2.8mL w/ 2.4ohm head (heads lasting over a month, no leaking whatsoever!)

Back up RiVa 650 battery set with SmokTech DC Cartomizers (great flavor!)

DIY watermelon is my primary vape with several DeKang flavors when DIY is steeping.

Any helpful vaping tips or recommendations on equipment?

Before you get hammered with all the ProVari peeps out there, I'll give you the low down on truth. There are several, and by several I mean hundreds of mods out there. You have to decide what you want to do and where you want to go.
VV Mods- You have dozens of choices including yes I say it, the ProVari, Box mods are nice in this ring though as well as Innokin products. Box mods will hold up, trust me on this one.
VV/VW- ZMax and Vamo (aka eGo APV) are good choices, I own 2 of the Vamo's and they are great little mods for cheap. Again depends on if you want to go this route.
VW Only- Darwin and Stallion mods are currently on the market as well as some independent box mods, they only support VW so make sure that's what you want. One advantage is no more adjusting voltage when you change out atomizers.
Mechanical- Waaaayyyy to many to list, these have no voltage control at all, but they are built to last. Just shy everything is replaceable and therefore easily fixed. Every battery configuration you could want and dream of. Golden Greek are well known for these mods.

Truthfully it depends on what you want to step it up to, if your happy with what you got then I'd say stick with it. If this level isn't the level for you then step it up to a VV, VV/VW or VW mod. I drip exclusively so can't offer you much advice on Cartomizers, I know the Boge are nice from a friend of mine. Tank Mods are great for driving, I own a MAP DCT tank that I use when driving and its alright. Rebuild able Atomizers will save you money but require a bit of handy work, possible to learn in a day and a few experimental attempts.
The real truth about it all is vaping is vaping...you have to make it your'se by just going out there and taking the bull by the horns. First decide what you want, if you like what you've got then why upgrade. If you want to upgrade then hit the threads like I did, so much info out there its almost crazy.
Feel free to PM me if you like opinions on stuff, I'm almost always around somewhere :)

Nice, thanks for the ideas! My biggest issue was battery power and life. Riva is the stand out batteries for me with eGo a close second. I used carts for 6+ months but they are not cost effective in the long run, for me. I will snap them up on sale though!

All my equipment have been sealed batteries. What are some positive/negative sides of using a Li-Ion battery?
