@wv2win... respectfully, I'm happy to explain what it is if someone asks, but I'm not patient enough or outgoing enough to intentionally put myself in a place where I am forced to confront people about it and evangelize it to the masses.

I will quietly write my letters to people in government offices and avoid drawing attention to myself when I'm out and about.

I may even support casaa so that they can advocate for me, that's what they are there for.

Rosa, I know that not everyone is comfortable with being "proactive" in advocating for vaping. I respect that. It's just not for everyone and I have no problem with a "behind the scenes" approach. What I have a problem with is those who tell all of us that we should all, as a group, only vape in designated smoking areas, hide our vaping from others and treat vaping just the same as smoking. To me that is the "road to perdition".

Modified vaping (my definition) is vaping while using in the old smoker areas, when in public. For instance, anywhere that has a cafe outside, sure! Anywhere that doesn't, ask. I think "while shopping" is a bit pushing it, but if they sell them there, why not.

Clearly this is just MY opinion of it and yes, i'll stealth if necessary.

Has nothing whatsoever to do with being proactive, has to do with simple courtesy and common sense.

If you are on someone else’s private property, at a store, at a bar, in a restaurant, then you are there as a guest, yes customers are indeed guests.

Your actions, your behavior, and your demeanor should reflect exactly that.

I am very outgoing, and have enjoyed explaining to folks what this is, however I never assume I have permission to do this on someone else’s property unless they specifically say I is ok, to assume otherwise will have it banned everywhere in short order.

To state that it should be viewed the same as smoking, as you have in other threads, is the perception that the anti's support and love. And being proactive is NOT being disrespectful. As I have stated more times than I remember, you always respect the property owners decisions. But unlike you, many of us don't want to just automatically go to the designated smoking area and vape there. Proactive means educating, asking and demonstrating if necessary. And as many of us have discovered, the answer is "no problem" many times with requests for more information.

I vape anywhere and everywhere. If a business doesn't like it, i'm sure they could tell me to stop. I'd rather be told to stop vaping than to stop smoking in an establishment.

I also carry my ECF business cards (along with a few of my favorite vendor's cards) with me and proudly hand them out when i'm occasionally asked "what is that?".

I grew up in Merced, about 45 minutes south of Modesto, in the Great State of California where all the smoking bans got their start. I remember smoking sections in Dennys and Lyons very well. They said, "we only want to ban smoking in restaurants". Smokers said, 'well, that's reasonable', and played by the rules. Then it was bars. Again, smokers played by the rules. Then it was anywhere indoors. Again, smokers played by the rules. Now it's a $200 fine to smoke damn near anywhere in Davis, including the street.

If I'm in a business and they ask me to stop doing something that (as of yet) isn't in violation of any laws, I'll pleasantly comply... and not return. If we all go stand in the corner like smokers, we'll be treated like smokers. I can guarantee you vaping will be banned in short order if that happens; it's what the busy-body vermin there *do*, and it's the major reason I'll never live in California again. Sit down and meekly take it, and they'll do it again, just like they did it before.

Now, understand, I'm not saying be obnoxious about it... blowing huge plumes everywhere you go just to get a reaction from people. I'm saying don't slink off into an alley to vape. Treat is as the most normal, natural, everyday thing in the world, and most people won't even notice. I've been vaping for almost a year, and have only gotten one negative reaction.

One.

Everyone else was either intensely curious (either for themselves or a loved one, or just because they were a "techie"), or just didn't give a squat.

I vape in as many places as I can. I just started a couple of weeks ago (and quit smoking!), so I'm still working up the cahones to start asking owners of establishments if it's cool with them.. right now, I pretty much do it anywhere somone isn't looking right then. E-cigarettes have been banned to use in non-smoking areas where I live (due to the fact that smokers might think it's the real thing and think it's okay to light up - omg), so I've got a double hurdle: not only would I have to explain what it is, but I might have to differentiate between an e-cig and an eGo. I do not use an e-cig, it's a PV goshdarnit! ..looks more like mascara than a cigarette..

Well I think vaping should be allowed just about anywhere but I undertand your viewpoint because most people just don't understand what an ecig is. I think the correct thing to do is ask for permission and if the answere is no, educate the people, by telling they what the product is. Perception is reality, so if people think you are smoking it can be diffuct to get your point accross.

When I find someone that states it should be viewed the same smoking I will gladly tell them that.

If are misquoting me again, than all I can do is laugh and ask you to read what others post before you respond. When you misquote people like that you are admitting that you cannot stand up to what they actually did say, so you have to make something up

I'll reiterate my point of view. I think it's okay for people to vape most anywhere AS LONG as they are being respectful. Whether they ask first or just start up and explain if someone asks, I'm not sure. I personally would ask first, but that's just my preference. The only place I find vaping unacceptable is openly on a plane.

I have yet to vape inside a building. For one, I don't get out much, lol. For two, I just don't feel the need to. If I'm shopping, I consider myself too busy and I really don't have a nic-fit. I treat it no differently than doing yard work where I can go hours without a puff even though I have immediate access to my PV. No a side note, I still find it fascinating that I can go hours without vaping because I could go no longer than 45 minutes before craving an analog.

For the most part, I think that the people who generally smoke everywhere seem to have respectful tone in their point of view. A lot of them seem to be on a mission to inform the masses one person at a time, which is good. I don't think it's payback from being ostracized as an analog smoker.

I agree 100%. Well stated.
