Thank you yes I have one of those it's a great little atty.

Yes I'm gradually making my way through the Tootle puffers thread but at 500 pages plus it's taking me a while[emoji1360]

After almost 5 years of vaping, I honestly believe that "anything" that keeps me off cigs is what I am after. The anything is the nicotine. I started at 2.4% nic and am down to 2.0%. Haha.
I really, really, really tried to go lower. I was OK at 1.8% but when I went to 1.2% I wasn't satisfied, vaping every two minutes is exhausting. The 2.0% keeps me happy.
I am one of the few people here who also use 2mg nicotine gum AND vape. I chew gum at the movies, at restaurants, and on planes. Then I will go outside and vape. A funny thing is, I get hiccups when I chew the gum, which is a sign of overuse, but never with the vape. The gum works, but I like blowing the vape "smoke" and making "smoke" rings.
I use Kangertech subtanks and a Clouper 30W with an 18650 battery around the house. I use a Joytech Ego Mega One around town. The smaller size is stealthier AND fits in my purse!
My point is there are set-ups for everyone. Go find yours.
The gum makes me hiccough too!!So does playing the saxophone.
I still tootypuff 24mg nic juice. In no hurry to cut down!!

Unfortunately, they only see us on the news when a pocket bursts into flame. Which doesn't engender a warm and fuzzy feeling about vaping for them.
Yeah, my one BIG axe to grind is inflated battery specs by the manufacturers. That and battery abuse and misuse by the consumer. I only use 18650 batteries. Longer life and more head room.
Most of my builds are above 1.0Ω, and my one sub-ohm is on a parallel box.
I shorted one battery when an atty that i was rebuilding had a melted pos post insulator. Didn't vent, thank God. But reinforced the fact that these things command great respect and care.

Unfortunately I see people chucking huge clouds in public areas and this unfortunately causes a bad light to be shown on the more responsible people

See I find the exact opposite. Clouds almost reel smokers in from my experience and I have converted a few people due to the interest.

It's not about people blowing clouds, it's about vaping in an appropriate place.

Where vaping is going for me is where ever I want it to go. A year ago I traveled for Christmas the same as this year. Last year, waiting for the flight, I took a couple of puffs in the restroom. This year I found a quiet spot at an inactive gate and vaped for a couple of hours of waiting. Most likely nobody noticed and if they did they didn't care. A group of us went to the movies. Last year I left the theater too take a few puffs outside. This year I vaped through the movie and nobody noticed. (All around me were people eating and drinking and they were impossible to ignore.) I keep clouds and flavoring to a minimum and use a Pico with a short rda. The reward is I can pretty much vape when and where I want.

I see the vaping market shifting rapidly as Big Tobacco moves to capture the base of remaining smokers while the FDA tightens the noose on open systems. Most current pod systems appear to be short term transitional products as they aren't sealed and in some cases are designed to be refilled. They are a great way to introduce this format, making them seem more common once they are replaced by similar closed systems which will gain FDA approval.

The remaining potential customer base for ecigs are for the most part smokers who are resistant to change and are likely to buy small simple automatic disposable devices. They require the least effort and have no learning curve. Early adopters of ecigs as well as those who could accept and even enjoy the learning curve, tweaking and fiddling that ecigs have required are not the market that will provide the future revenue stream. We who enjoy open systems are watching the pod movement develop which will ultimately force our style to the fringe of the industry. We may be able to get a variety of choices through approved or unapproved channels, but will be viewed as the more extreme hobbyists. High volume, simple disposables are where the money is for the big players.

That's where I think the industry is moving, and fast.

I don't understand how we have got to wherever we are today either.

My Grandpa started driving in the 1930s with a Model T and he never looked back. I continue to drive that Model T.

Believe it or not I think that the cars back then was the reason people were able to transition so easy from the horse and buggy

What I don't understand is why people think they need to go 100 miles per hour? This causes accidents and leads to thousands of deaths a year. I see no need to go more than 25 miles per hour. Going so fast does not even simulate horse travel, so what is the point? But BIG Auto continues to cater to these crazy speed demons.

Of course I am being sarcastic and mean no offense to the OP, but the truth is the Customer drives the market, so really all of us vapors are to blame if we do not like where things are going.

Agree almost entirely with this post.

The vast majority of smokers who were/are willing to try open systems have already done so imo. All you need to do is compare the number of posts, and also new members joining ECF, from 2014 say, to today. It has slowed down a lot.

There are still millions of smokers, who weren't able to quit with cigalikes, but have nio interest in our style of vaping either. I have spoken to many of them. They may be able/willing to quit though, using a more satisfying device than cigalikes, one that works consistently, every time, with no need for tinkering and fiddling. The vape industry did nothing really to try and capture that market in 2014 and 2015. Instead they were catering to current vapers. Things began to change in 2016 with the introduction of nicotine salts and pod mods. It's a start, but these devices aren't there yet.

Where i disagree slightly, is that i don't anticipate open systems being pushed to the fringes any time soon. Open systems will be a major part of the equation for a good while yet imo.

I don't see that the industry is going in a bad direction. You want mtl? I just found many many mtl single coil attys, tanks, clearos etc with one easy google search. The same for small form mods, from pen/tube style up to box style. Single battery and dual battery. Low and high wattage. You just have to look. If you don't look for what you want then don't complain that it's not out there. Mtl devices are not going anywhere, nor are the dl devices. Cloud chasers, flavor chasers, tootle puffers....there are devices for each one.

Yes there is lots if you do Google search but they are all old gear most of which are not produced any more. I'm talking about new slim rta's of the 16,17,18mm size range. Like the big Buddha mini and the mini fogger The Kayfun mini 2.1 (14mm) and the origen tiny tank. And I'm not taking about ya pro tanks and ya nautilus' s with stock coils I'm talking about rebuildable's.
If you know of something new please let me know.

I know I'm in the minority of people that like a slimmer 14500 size device but I am definitely not alone.

You realize the griffin is small, and can be used as a single coil rta. That's just one that i found. So yes they are still building attys in the size you want that can be used like you say you want. So instead of bemoaning that nothing fits your vape style actually take a few minutes and look. Otherwise you're just wanting to complain and blame the industry for not shoving your chosen style in your face.

Or the 17mm wanko. 2ml tank size. Hey another small rta. Again, Google search. All kinds turn up.

22mm is for 18350-650 devices not 14500 devices.
