Went to OKC today so DH could take his mechanical contractors test......it lasted 6 hours 8-o (I went shopping...lol)

He passed with an 88!!!!!

I got to get the decorating done because I won't be back until after turkey day. Decorating is the easy part. The shopping and wrapping is the hard part.

Eight days? Hanukkah is early this year, Jane. Isn't it? Maybe I will celebrate Hanukkah instead of Christmas. Hanukkah still has all of it's religious significance, although it's a minor Jewish holiday. Christmas has turned into a huge commercial venture and the religious significance has become an extremely minor event and even banned in many areas.

The Jewish calendar is lunar. 12 months, 30 days each. That gives you a 360 day year so every holiday creeps forward a bit each year. But they recognized it and every few years they add an extra month so all the holidays move back and the whole process starts again.

That's the simplistic version. I don't understand the details but, if it were exact, it would be an orderly progression instead of:
2013 = November 27
2014 = December 16
2015 = December 6
2016 = December 24
2017 = December 12

The retailers will be happy in 2016. They don't have to figure out when to put things on sale. Everyone's shopping schedule will be the same.
