Glad you're home. Hope you can come in the hangout soon. Kay can tell ya one reason ya need it, unless you buy a smaller one, is privacy! I did it for many years, but I'd kinda forgotten just how bad apt living can be. If you do decide to move......go for a trailer or a duplex, unless you just get a smaller house. Dunno if it's paid for or not (and not asking) but that's worth a lot if it is.
I Will NOT go back to apartment living. I'd rather live in the woods in a tree first!!

Matt suggested I close off the rooms I don't use. That has been done for quite some time now. The vents were closed, along with the doors, and I have the bottoms of the doors closed off from draft. It made a mahvelous difference in my electric bill.

I've been having this recurring dream with three different scenarios. The first scenario is that I get my hands on a small farm where I can raise vegetables and have a few cows, chickens and a pig or two. The second scenario is to sell this place and get a big ugly functional truck and a camper. Then I can live wherever I feel like living. When I get tired in one place, I can leave and go somewhere else. The third scenario is a cabin in a remote woods somewhere that I can eke out survival from the land. OK, so I dream a lot.

I'd have to fix this place up somewhat if I ever thought I was going to sell it. (Heavy sigh) I saved up money for a new floor in the living room area, and then the air conditioning unit went to hell in a hand-basket last summer. I had to replace everything inside and out. It was 17 years old. I guess I can't ask for better than that. The good news is the new unit is super efficient. It's pretty much helping me to pay for it. I lucked on a deal where I could pay for it interest free for 36 months.

I still haven't redone the floors yet. I have woman's intuition that the hot water heater will go next. :(

Would be nice though if you could live closer to where you work. Just to try it out, you could rent out your house, have relatives manage it, and rent a place in the community where you work. That dormitory situation would be the pits for me-- little personal space.

Actually, the place I stay when I'm working is not bad. They are small two bedroom apartments. They finally moved the day guy out of the one I'm staying in. Technically we were never in there at the same time, but I'm still glad they moved him out. If I had to stay there all the time, I'd probably be outside more than I'm inside, though.

Is the shop as big as it looks on TV?

No its smaller than it appears on tv. Its on the strip but north of the main area , past the Stratosphere.
We went on the deuce bus which at one point goes left and you get off then walk right to get back to the main street.
Rather unassuming shop from the outside.
The guys weren't there apparently they film once a day or so. One women says loudly I came all the way from Florida , however the distance we had travelled surpassed that.

Apartment living is not for everyone. Feasible if you have to live in a city perhaps or some I gather like that lifestyle.
They build them all over the place gets a lot of money per area to build on.
The blocks of land here in Perth are rather large compared to other states so in the last few years many houses have been sold and demolished and then two - three smaller houses built on the existing block.
House prices and rent is high in Perth. Average around $500 AUD $370 USD a week. average 4 bedroom home around $500,000 AUD.
Many people on a Mortgage or in a share house were a few people live and split the rent. Many homes owned or passed down by baby boomers.
The house price increase over the last few years has helped people who already owned a home, well if they want to sell it.
Prices I suspect have gone high due to most people borrowing the money and spending more than they could if they had to buy a home with their own money.
Electricity here apparently the average is around $250-300 every two months. Ours is about $100-120 every two months.

How does it drive Matt ?
Looked at them but Got a thing about the two doors on one side and one on the other.
Also you pay a lot more for cars here than the USA.
Actually drives like a sports car. Not really powerful as it's only a 1.8 liter engine but I drive back and forth to Virginia at 80mph no problem. Gets around 36mpg on the highway. You can use the dual clutch 6 speed automatic in either automatic or manual. I really like it. It's the only car I've ever had that I like as much 3 years after I got it as I did the day I bought it.

Highest speed here I'm aware of on the freeways is 110kmh around 68mph.
Ive been looking at a car to buy , one I like does have a 6spd automatic they call efficient dual clutch though many car companies have their own name for it. Never driven one before , either just straight manual or straight automatic.
Most reviews I read on sports cars seem to always address if the suspension / ride of the car is too stiff.

It's a little stiff. Not bad though. Drives. Real well and at 68mph max you'd have plenty of power. The third door is cool as hell and allows easy access to the back seat. Not that I would want to sit back there. My daughter has and she's 5'4". Says it's quite comfortable once she's in there. It's just the in and out that's the hard part. If you get both the Style and Tech packages it was around 23,500 usd. You really want both and if you can afford it get the Turbo. Tech package gives you touch screen nav and a jamming 6 speaker stereo with 8" sub. Sounds great. She's a nice ride and I like her and get lots of positive comments.
