Thank you! In your opinion is there a difference in flavor from the red box salon coil vs. Japanese cotton? I can pick up some Shiseido from a local sephora for 9.50 but if the 3 dollar coil shows no appreciable difference I'd rather get that.
I've only used Koh Gen Do japanese cotton. I picked it up at Stormy's Vapor Cellar store here in town. It was $5.00 for a zip lock that contained about 6 sheets 3"x3". You can make about 5 or more wicks from a sheet depending on how you cut and split it. It's great cotton and it's combed really well, so you get close to 100% usable material if you are careful.
The red box at Sally's seems to be a little more coarse cotton and that's good because it wicks better, IMO. The coarse fibers must have more room between them for wicking juice. Both last me about 3 days before I start to notice a drop off in vapor and flavor. 5 minutes and I'm back up and vaping with renewed performance. I usually try to re-wick when the tank needs a fill to I don't have to drain the tank into a bottle. I'm using a Kayfun 3.1.
I still want to try the Cellucotton from Sally when they get it back in stock. FWIW, the lady at Sally said that a bunch of guys from the local college are in and out buying the Cellucotton and the red box cotton salon coils. They rave about both. It's probably why when I went in there they were down to two boxes of the plain cotton salon coil and no cellucotton.
