I'd go with the one that's rated up to three amps, as I have figured I've gotten up to 2.24 amps using 5.2 volts with a 2.3 ohm atty

i know usually people only talk about up to 2 amps, but i'd use the one that's rated for three
prolly same thing with beefier heat sink anyway
if the soldering doesn't scare you, it looks pretty trick for a radio shack type part (i mean looks-wise, not judging the internals)

the chips in the original post are BGA, smd's.....they require a reflow station or oven. if you have never done BGA surface mount, I would stay far far away from those....you need about $400, worth of tools to properly/consistently solder those chips. It can be done with a heat gun and or toaster oven....but if you aren't willing to screw up a few times then forget it. Also you would need the correct pitch SMB pcb for them. I didn't bother to check the lead pitch, but trust me on this one. It's more trouble than it's worth, and there are better chips out there....for about the same money. Stick with through hole IC's.
