The only smoke I miss is that of the ribs sizzling on my front porch bbq grill.

OK...ok I get it. I'm being a sissy - just cut the cord right? Tomorrow morning I am going cig free! As I have to smoke outside the house and its been a balmy 12F here lately this should be relatively painless? I wish myself the best of luck and I really want a counter at the bottom of my posts :)

I really don't "miss" any smokes in the sense that I don't crave cigarettes. However, for some reason, I find myself grabbing a smoke out of my husband's pack (he's still a smoker--for now...) after dinner once or twice a week. It's a nearly unconscious habitual reaction that I find odd, since I don't consciously desire a cigarette--I rather despise the thought of it and the taste is appalling to me. Eat dinner, clear table, wash and put up dishes, light up cigarette. It's so interesting how (from the "outside" looking in) that little part of life (while smoking) was, and still is, so automatic.

The triggers are tough - tobacco puts a deeply rooted addiction in place. I am lucky in that I am the only smoker in the house. I am pitching the balance of my RYO and tubes when I get home tonight.

I honestly don't miss cigarettes any more. I'm glad to be past that.

I get occasional psycho episodes when I smell cigarette smoke. Like when I'm walking into Safeway and have to pass a smoker sucking one down outside the automatic door. My jaw tenses up and I get unkind thoughts about insults and mayhem. Funny, I never had this anger issue before I quit smoking. I think about sunny afternoons anchored out in the boat and feel better going through the door.

Once inside Safeway I can smell cigarettes on a smoker's clothes ten feet away from them. That usually doesn't bother me. I smell other kinds of smokers in CA too, lots of them. I can't smell vapers, yet.

Glad I can't sniff things out as well as my dog. Do I smell like my dog? Hmm. I like the farm collie smell.

If there's anything I've learned here at ECF is that the journey is different for all of us.

My lovely wife had reduced her smoking to just a few a day since I'd totally quit. Now we're out of the real cigarettes and she's enduring her 5th day without.

I do wish quitting by vaping was as easy for all of us as it was for me.

I miss the ones that would stick to your lips, and then your fingers would slide down and get burned by the hot cherry. Or the ones where the hot ash would fall in your lap while you're driving, so you'd have to do the hoochie-coo trying to figure out where it went, while keeping the car on the straight and narrow. Good times.

Haven't inhaled smoke since the first time inhaling vapor. Can't say that I miss any smoke as I really kind of hated it in the first place. What I dont miss is standing outside in the cold late at night smoking and coming back in and smelling like crud. Im also not missing the money in my wallet that would have been in a drawer at the local quickie mart by now.

Haven't had the problem since I figured out what was going on.......and I did this before I switched.

Caffeine=UP
Nic=Down

For coffee drinkers, the battle is on. Many will also notice not only do they crave a smoke while drinking coffee, but they would like a cup of coffee while Smoking.
Truth is - Neither product as a whole is causing the issue. It is just the few select chemicals in each causing trouble for us.:glare:

I found if I chain Vaped with my coffee, I could get buy.
Problem 1 - had a cheapo 402 mini-ecig kit
Trashed that and a 510 kit for a more substantial Ego/Clearo setup and dropped to 12mg.
Days were great, but Mornings...not so much. Still, I resisted.

I loaded (1) Clearo...eventually changed to a Kanger T2, then a T3, then a T3mini - With a Decent BWB Backo 18mg.
This was my Ticket to success.
A nice light flavor - kind of Baco but kind of not, you know what I mean.
Delivers 50% more nic than my go to Vapes and in a pinch, Chain vaping will knock me silly.
Now, 17 months later, I have to check the Tank and battery out every week of so to be sure they are at the ready.
Haven't had to tough the 18mg. Panic tank at all in over 3 months and just mixed my next step down 6mg e-liquids.

For many of us, smoking for 30-40+ years has created huge barriers in our minds which we are having a tough time tearing down.
Take me as an example as nothing short of Vaping ever came close to helping me Quit.

My APV's and Mech Mods are my Sledge Hammers and Pick Axes to rip down those barriers and Free myself once and for all.:2cool:

Back on topic: I really never missed any of my "ritual" smokes. I thought I would but I got into the vape thing head on.(as I do with most hobbies) I went crazy with new flavors, different nic strengths, new devices, chain vaping, etc. And I never believed there could be a bigger cigarette addict than me. 35 year pack a day Winston smoker! In fact I found out later that a few coworkers even were taking bets on when I would go back to smoking. That was almost a year ago now and no going back.

Edit: forgot to add, This site has probably more to do with my quitting than anything. The help and support has been awesome!

Definitely no going back, have you smelt an analog person, they stink. LOL MY smoke room now is the best smelling room anywhere it smells like sugar coated goodness abides in it now. Previous it was only semi smelling good I was a pipe tobacco smoker. I could not smell analogs on a person when used to smoke flavored tobacco pipe, so vaping definitely puts you back right in the sense dept. of smell and taste....

This thread got me thinking. There were thousands of Marlboro Lites in my past. They changed the name to "Gold" because the name "Lite" might suggest they were somehow less harmful or less addictive. Something like that anyway. But I don't miss 'em a bit. I did an attempt to stop cigarettes a few years ago and going back to smoking pipes.

Middleton's Cherry Blend was a favorite for many years but rarely used by me because I never could keep a pipe lit, hugely inconvenient and especially so while driving. I MAY have bought two packs of that in my lifetime.

As far as vapes go, it seems I've settled out with a locally purchased vape called "Very Cherry" and NEVER made any connection until now. I do vape a couple of others but the cherry is most definitely my favorite and I suppose I know why now.

Fortunately, it's also a light (almost perfectly clear) vape and my coils appear to last a lot longer than those that I use with the darker vapes. (Root Beer and Chocolate Covered Cherry) I'm a chocolate lover too.

So, yet another discovery here on ECF and a well deserved THANK YOU to my fellow vapers for helping me to realize that, even though no one really could have known that. :)

I have the opposite reaction, when I smell smoke, I want to go show them my cool toy, and let them know about this amazing alternative!

But...I'm shy. :)

Hmmm....haven't had that since I quit smoking.
Holy cow!! My counter says that was 6 months ago! What is wrong with me?!! : )

Get out there! One of the benefits of vaping not discussed is that you don't have to worry if a woman smokes or not! :)

I'll tell you from personal experience, women are pretty cool about vaping...more than I thought. A couple even wanted to try it.
