I defer to the advice of dormouse as she's prolly one of the most knowledgeable here when it comes to starter kits and batteries among other things.
In regards to "Nicotine Hit" there are a number of points you should be aware of. The "effect" of vaping is a combination of:
size of battery and if it's manual- 100 mah= 1 hour of vaping before recharge.
the percentage of PG to VG: PG= taste and throat hit while VG= vapor- most ex smokers appreciate a combination of these but it's all very personal and up to the individual to figure this part out.
The usual percentage is 80/ 20 or 70/ 30 PG/ VG. VG is very thick and if too much is in the juice it can clog the delivery devices ( cartomizer, cartridge, atomizer) quicker. Some will have a heavier amount of VG in their juice but dilute/ thin it out with distilled water.
Nicotine also plays a part in the throat hit and "lung hit". It also stabilizes the "Nic fits". If your nic is too high you'll get headaches and if it's too low your craving for nicotine will not be satisfied thus defeating the whole purpose of vaping.

Battery Info:
manual batts allow us to choose the strength of each individual vape- it puts you in control. There is also less chance of damage from juice. Loud sounds will sometimes activate auto batts.

The vapor comes from the water in our bodies and not the juice. Dehydration is common when first starting. Drink LOTS of water. I start my day with 2 large glasses and drink a total of 2 1/2 liters per day.

As for gas station and/ or corner store Ecigs they are extremely overvalued and I guarantee that you will not be happy.
It might be a good idea to post the brand you smoke and how many per day. This may give us an idea of what type of juice/ strength you would be satisfied with.
Good luck and I hope this helps, Vapoor.

Avoid automatic batteries - only buy manuals which give a better hit

And in general, the fatter the ecig, the bigger hits it can deliver. When you get up the 14mm+ diameter batteries like Ego and Riva 510 and mods - anything 450mah+, you can also use LR attachments which are hotter and generally make bigger drags with more hit

If you want a slim-ish Ecig I recommend Vapor4Life w/ manual batteries - allows up to a a 10-13 second drag instead of cutting off at 5 seconds. All decent slim ecigs are a bit fatter than a cigarette 9.2mm or 9.4mm diameter instead of 8.5mm diameter.

I currently use a Volt, which is a 78mm auto battery. I am new to the vaping community, but I do like mt Volt. Vapor production is good, and the batteries are now sealed which helps protect them. I will probably end up with something else one day, but for now i am okay.

That kgo sounds nice though. I'll have to check it out.

I have no idea where I'm at
Just to answer the OP: as you can see everyone has a personal preference regarding their PV (hence the "personal" part of PV). Anyway, it doesn't matter which one, it all comes down to the % of nic in the liquid, but also be aware that there are other things in an analogue (chemicals) as well as an analogue being the perfect delivery system. Your absorption is much faster and much, much higher with an analogue that with an e-cig. Nothing is really "like" an analogue, but it all depends on what you want. I loved analogues, but I like vaping even more. I mix my own, so I get the exact % of nic that I want, a % that keeps me happy and definitely off the analogues.

Don't overdo it with the nic, trying to get the same "rush" as an analogue, it isn't going to happen. Just listen to your body, if you feel nauseas, then stop vaping for a couple of hours, or realize you need to use a lower nic level for the amount of vaping you are doing. We have all gone through it.

Everybody has their own preferences, so you have to go with what works best for you. In the end, it's not the process but the vapor itself.

Saludos

From what I've read, and it could be wrong, the vapor actually comes from the heating up of the PG/VG (hence if you take a quick puff and exhale it is vapor) which causes the vapor. The same way a fog machine will produce it. The glycerin actually draws out moisture from your throat and mouth, causing the feeling of dehydration. There is a thread somewhere here about the whole discussion of this topic, not sure exactly where I saw it, but I can search for it if anyone needs to know more.

Funny that you should mention it but went to see my nose specialist today and I explained about Ecigs and I mentioned dehydration. He said the dehydration comes from the saliva in the mouth and throat and hence the body rushes in to replace that saliva so you are spot on with your explanation.
He LOVED the Ecig and had only seen the commercials for it. He also asked for my email and asked if I would accompany him to speak with a patient who has serious issues because of analogs. He also asked if I could email him some info on it and suggested Starter Kits. I'm usually there for about 15 minutes...one hour later and he was as excited as a new vaper. He made my day :D

Sounds like a good opportunity to get more people into vaping, you rock,Vapoor eyes er. and also thanks for letting me know that for once I was right . Good to know in my 25 days with my eGo and even longer reading in here that I have picked up a thing or 2 LOL. If you spend enough time browsing around in here you learn all kinds of strange and wonderful stuff, heheh.
