I was made aware of ecigs about 2 years ago but I'm interested to see how long some of the longest vapers out there have been using them for. This is entirely to satisfy my own curiosity.

If it's no trouble, please can you post:

1) how long you've been vaping and
2) how you see the industry/hardware/image or experience as having changed since you started?

Thank you!

Good question. I've been vaping a long time. I'm not sure exactly how long, its in my sig.

When I first started, I bought a DSE-901 from Totally Wicked. At the time there weren't many American vendors, it was the only pv they sold and their prices were on par with everyone else's. I was buying all my liquid through Johnson's Creek because they were the only American company making juice.

It sucked. I was constantly carrying around a half dozen batteries and atomizers were TERRIBLE. I'd go through an atomizer every week.

Then the 510 came out and I bought one of those, was called a Yeti at the time. It was a little better, but again, the early atomizers sucked big time. They all tasted like a burning plastic bag.

I actually quit vaping at that point because of crappy battery life, poor availability of juice and awful taste. I made note of the Screwdriver coming out, but chose not to get back into it yet. I picked it back up again when the eGo came out. I was dating a girl who didn't smoke, so I had to do something...

The low resistance mega atomizers on the eGo were the first ones I really liked. By that time there were dozens of juice vendors and American stores selling pv's.

Then I got a Chuck, immediately realized that big batteries were the way to go and then went a little crazy and got a Don, an Ali'i, a Big Kazoo, a Provape-1, a Provari, a Reo Grande and Helix.

So in conclusion, the tech has really started moving quickly in the last couple years. We've gone from automatic batteries and stiff draws being the norm to being able to select voltage based on atomizer ohms, liquid and personal preference. The advancements have been astounding. Availability of quality pv's and good juice and accessories has increased exponentially. The whole vaping experience has gone from something that was passable if you REALLY wanted to get off cigarettes to being something pleasurable in itself. Literally every little part of it is better in every single way. I'm loving how far we've come and I'm very excited to see what is coming in the next few years.

Vaping for over two years with some gaps. It does seem like quality has improved. Cartomizers were once looked down upon. Now it seems everyone is using either a carto or tank excluding the die hard drippers. We used to cut our own polyfill for carts. It's obvious I'm not the only one who got sick and tired of that.

I'll have been vaping for 2 years come June 18th. I joined this forum a few weeks before that. Back then there were 2 mods out, the Janty Stick and the Screwdriver, if I recall correctly. I went with a Screwdriver. I never bought another PV except to get a backup Screwdriver and a custom brass Screwdriver I had Trog build for me.

They still perform like champs. I gave my second Screwdriver to a friend and he still vapes it. My brass SD with a drip tip is my daily vaper with my original SD as my backup. I buy my 36 mg e-liquid in 500 ml bottles and mix my own flavor juice. Comes to about $100.00 a year. I get my atties from Heaven's Gifts. I been buying there so long with my long term customer discount I get them for a song.

Since then I've seen at least 100 mods come and go, let alone all the commercial cigarette looking models. I see people buying 5 or 6 different mods. There are some very cool models out there and I DO have my eye on the new E-Pipes.

As of today I've saved over $6000 if I had still kept smoking. Well $5000 if I subtract $1000 for my vaping supplies.

And I ran up 4 flights of stairs in a parking garage a few months ago and I was barely winded. Now THAT is what I call success...

Ive been vaping since Feb 2009 and my main vape is still the Screwdriver Mk1 I bought in April 2009 - it has never let me down.

Since then, I've bought a Super T Super Six (Jan 2010) and some more Screwdrivers. I also have a FistPack and an eGo - both of which I won in a raffle.

Things have got cheaper over the years. The big change for me has been low resistance atties (my mainstay atty is the 1.7ohm LR 901.

Been vaping for about 3 years, this was back when puresmoker's main pv was a super mini hehe. That or a 901 was all you could get other than a screwdriver for 160 bucks or a janty kissbox. I'm not mod crazy, used a 901 for first year, and mostly used a standard 510 for over a year, that was all there was. I've got cpl egos layin around, cpl mad vapes box mods, got a retired 905 somewhere, cpl 4081s somewhere. I've still got a dietsmokes red scorpion atty layin around somewhere, lol thats deff out of the wayback machine, and a Janty dura tossed in a box somewhere.

I like all the options, that are out nowdays, deff lots to choose from, really glad to see the options available now. Nice to see high nic juice for diy nowdays, use to be insane and an act of congress to get a hold of 48mg unflavored hehe.

I'm at the one year point. I've been through the polyfill, tea bags, blue foam, mega cone and mage type B. and now the tank. I like the tank best, although I also have a 306 atty with a drip tip that I use frequently around the house. It's especially good for changing flavors and trying new ones. You just drip in a couple of drops and vape for about the length of time a cigarette lasts. You can try a new flavor and it comes through quickly since there's no filler to retain a lot of juice. Vapor is thick and tasty.

My wife and I began vaping on July 1, 2009, nearly 2 years ago, when we received our first SmokeSticks (Rn4081) order. We had tried Chantix (twice) and went back to smoking both times. I had smoked for over 40 years and was at nearly 3 packs a day.
The SmokeSticks were good enough (and a little pricey) to get us off smoking immediately. We haven't even one cigarette since our first vape.
After the SmokeStick we went to the M401 (which we really liked), then to the 510. We stayed with the 510 the longest before eventually going to the eGo. We've been eGo users for more than a year. We've actually been very lucky in making each change because we followed ECF users comments and waited till the majority seemed to favor a specific style before we changed our hardware.
In regard to health, my wife lost her morning smoker's cough within a few weeks of vaping and I parked our riding mower and started push-mowing our yard. Still push-mowing and selling the rider.
Our first kits cost us nearly $125, each. Our last eGo kits cost us $39, each. Oh yeh. Doesn't usually happen with most things but in the case of ecigs, the product has greatly improved while the price has gone down.
