Why are so many vapers against themselves?

Reading through many of the articles on this forum I notice that many vapers seem to take the attitude that other vapers should cower to the whims of the antz. They say don't smoke in restaurants, stores are not okay, and basically taking the attitude that if smoking is not allowed there, then they don't want to vape there. Isn't this the same thing as saying they are smoking? Are they ashamed they are vaping? To me they are giving up their freedoms in this country willingly. I'm not saying we should be disrespectful of others, but I just don't understand how they could lie down so willingly.

People who know nothing of vaping would only assume we were smoking and I .totally respect that. I asked at work before I vaped in front of people and would never do it in a mall or restaurant simply out of respect for those who are leery of vape or know nothing about it. As I mentioned in another post, the first time I saw a co-worker vape, I was a smoker and knew nothing about it. I thought he was smoking [moderated]..I laugh now but it has made me more respectful of others lack of information

If a restaurant says "jacket and tie" I either don one or don't eat there...if the store says "do not touch fruit", I follow the rule, or go somewhere else. No vaping allowed is the same as any other rule of any establishment...either don't go, or refrain from vaping. If you can't go without for at least a few hours, chew nicotine gum, or put on a patch!!

Then why would we need to "fight for our right to vape"? Apparently it is believed that we have no "right" to vape, it's just a simple privilege.
because the govt is trying to take the right of choice away from us not because denny's said they dont like it.

well,,,,

some people feel they SHOULD have the "right" to vape in many places like hospitals, etc,,,,,,,,

and some people feel like we MIGHT lose our right to vape in our own homes and cars,,,,,,,,,

hence the fighting.

I don't see it as lying down; I see it as being respectful to others. In Chicago it's illegal to smoke in restaurants and even though vaping isn't smoking nobody in any official position ever said the law excludes vaping. You are still blowing nicotine out of you mouth into a room of other people who might not want to inhale it. If you vape in a restaurant, you will be asked to stop without a doubt, so why try it, just to be rebellious and to make a scene?

Or just go into the bathroom and vape in the stall, nobody will be the wiser.

Nobody ever like the analogy, but how would you feel if you're eating in a restaurant or shopping in store and someone walks by and just cuts loose with some mighty flatulence continually and repeatedly?

It's not illegal to fart right, so why should they be relegated to the bathroom?

Wow. It's like fighting for our right to fart.

Privileges are granted to us by others. I guess what is being said is that we are allowing others to grant us the ability to vape, purchase vape supplies, juice, etc.

Many articles have been written about the challenge that the EU vapers are facing. They show up by the thousands to declare their desire to be able to vape. In the US, though, it seems that we are simply lying down and waiting for the granting of the privilege. I feel that with this attitude it is only a matter of time before it is taken from us completely.

What about the rights of OTHERS? You want to vape right there in the opera house while people are trying to watch what's happening on the stage? Do you want to vape on the bus right next to some old lady who might have an allergy to glycerin? Are you going to hang a sign around your neck explaining what you are doing when you start vaping in the police station? Come on, man, have some respect and common sense.
