I actually see America as a place where Idea's are taken and grow. The whole cloud chasing thing is actually part of taking the idea to the extreme which is what Americans do because we have so much more freedom than many countries do to express ourselves and our creations in many ways.

I think the cloud chasers are helpful and will lead to many good idea's that are taken and made smaller eventually.

I think that there are alot of very good thoughts in this thread but the one that Hit the nail for me is the Statement "They can re-engineer anything" Where did the original concept come from? As far as Europe being different from Germany, that's questionable as all the European Governments voted to become the EU! Did the people get a VOTE? I know many many many Europeans that spend 6 months out of the year in the US. the only reason they don't immigrate is their Pension can't be collected outside Europe! Walk down the street in any European city/town and look at what the younger folks and alot of the older ones are wearing. AMERICAN designers. American shoes, American baseball caps. Ask any young european what car they would have if they could, the anser is an AMERICAN SUV or a JEEP. The idea that America is this Selfish, selfabsorbed Nation Is GARBAGE! The prejudice voiced about the US is from ENVY for what this Nation has Managed to accomplish.
Good or Bad there is no place like it on Earth! By the Way I'm a German Citizen, but I LOVE AMERICA!!! Without the USA everyone over there would be Speaking German!

I definitely wouldn't say that cloud chasing is running rampant in the US. that's all a bunch of hater hype. Outside of Vape shops and cloud competitions, I would say my .3 builds put out the biggest clouds I see on the streets. (not all that big.) Honestly, My 1.0 kayfun builds are usually the biggest clouds I see. (even less big.) But for the sake of argument, I checked out UKVapers, and Planet of the Vapes, and both have had sub ohm cloud chasing sub forums for some time. In a quick scan of general vaping, I saw several threads about sub ohm builds in drippers. I guess it's not as American as apple pie after all.
I agree! I too spent some time over on the UK forums...and the Aussie forum. This, I did during a mandatory "time out" I received for being mean to a gifted troll we had around here. Plenty of cloud chasers across the pond. I think cloud chasers and hobbyists congregate on forums where most just trying to stop smoking may or may not participate on forums. ECF being the biggest forum and being predominately American might lead one to believe Americans are the only cloud chasers. I liked the UK forums the best, but the Aussies are the most polite.

I'm guessing that if there were people in that large group who were members of a UK electronic cigarette forum, your experience may have been different.

Not!!!!! You can have your muscle car and slap whatever you want on it and I would blow you away on any road course in the world in a Porsche!
A well built muscle car can handle just as well as anything else. Wheel base and good suspension parts go a long way. ;)

"Slap whatever I want on it" eh? What if I slap a laser guided Tow missle on it? You would still score pretty hard in the "blown away" department, but would lose the race, ... Badly. - excerpt from Thoughts of a True American

Did I miss something??? What do tow missles have to do with capabilities of automobiles? Its not Un-American to admit Germany makes superior cars as well as other things! Americans invent things...Germany makes them better.[emoji14]

You did say slap"anything on it. A Tow missile is "anything".

What you missed is the smiley face.

But people in Europe have all the sub ohm stuff to their disposal as well but they are, for the most part not using it. Whenever we get something new on the US market Europe can buy it too but no one does.

@DC good point on the Filipinos in LA

Give it a few years, if they see we have not blown our faces off it will catch on.

I think it's due to the availability of what you can buy in America where as in Europe pretty much most big toys have to be imported I never understood cloud chasing though I never walked into my local shop and asked for there smokiest cigarettes have nothing against cloud chasing but don't think we should advocate it either all it will take is one idiot trying to sub ohm incorrectly and were in trouble a lot of kids here in the uk are using egos now wait until they see the big pretty clouds you can get from high end gear .......... Disaster waiting to happen

 This!

I think it is very nice that vaping is for everybody, and for every taste:
You can use store bought atomizers, you can make your own coils, and you can sub-ohm and blow big huge clouds if you so desire AND if you have the technical knowledge that you need for that (after all, it is not a good idea either to tinker with the brakes of your car if you have no idea what you are doing).

To my mind, it only looks as if the majority of vapers are into building coils and sub-ohm stuff because those subjects are so prominent in the forums.
After all, how many threads do you need to start in order to discuss Evod and Vivi Nova atomizers? And how actively do you need to discuss store bought atomizers and store bought batteries? You read in one thread that x ohm is best vaped at y volt (for VV batteries), and then you know and that's it.

To my mind, the real majority of vapers is quite happy with store bought equipment. After all, vaping is a great alternative to smoking tobacco. Period. And not every person who uses this alternative is also a technology buff. Is every smoker a technology buff? I think not.

In addition, the vaping technology has improved greatly within the last three years (I started vaping in Nov 2011). Nowadays, the store bought things are so nice and satisfying that there is absolutely no need to tinker with do-it-yourself stuff - unless you absolutely positively WANT TO. Do remember that rebuilding / modding came into being several years ago when tech-savvy vapers improved on the - then atrocious - store bought stuff.

My 2 cents.

Atrocious is the word alright! Today's tech is SO much better than those dreadful times.
