I took my son to the mall for his birthday. Spent hours looking for a gift for him, after giving up looking we headed towards exit and came across a kiosks selling some 808s and egos. My son asked me if I would buy one and quit smoking for him (his mother passed when he was 6) so seeing that look in his eyes I couldn't say no to him. I overpayed at the mall, quit smoking though. I know it's a sappy story but that's the way it shook out.

Great story...

It was my grandmothers birthday party, and my uncle showed my his little gas station ecig, End of April it was still kind of cold outside, and I figured I would check them out so I could smoke inside for a change. Went to the discount tobacco store, they had a starter kit, crappy little thing for 55 bucks! Still bought it though lol. Battery lasted all of about 30 minutes before it needed charged.... ok I can deal with that. Hook it onto the computer let it charge, battery gets knocked a little sideways when I reached for the mouse, charger breaks. Now what, gave the pack of cigs to the kids..... go to walgreens because now it is 8 om on a Sunday and the tobacco store is closed. They are out of blu cigs! Gal there tells me about this vapor store that just opened in town, nice I will check them out! Drive by knowing they will be closed, they are closed Monday and Tuesday! Go back home fiddle with the charger a while get it to work, charge the battery, happy again.

Next day, first carto is drained, that's ok, it came with 5. Put a new one on, it doesn't work! Put another one on, it's dead too! WTF????? Beyond frustrated now! The next carto works, okay, happy again, it is electronics after all there are bound to be duds right? Next 2 cartos get me through the next 2 days, they were the 24mg cartos. Wednesday, yay that new shop is open today! Walk in, show them what I have, they kind of giggle and tell me about their own experience. They set me up with the ego-t and a clearo and a few sample bottles of liquid. So, this is what I've been missing!!!!! I started researching, found this site, a few weeks later upgraded to the ego-c after trying Kangers and Boges and those clearos. Was happiest with the Ego-c. So now I have 4 ego batts, 1 twist batt, 2 t attys the c attys, 15 or so Kangers, tried about 4 of the clearos and on the 20th of this month got me a DCT tank.

I still want a few more things to try, the DCT is the best so far, but I want to try out the ViVi Nova and maybe a more permanent battery than these ego batts, but can't afford that yet, and I want to try out dripping still as I really liked the ego-c for that. I keep hearing about the reo box mod, may check into one of those but I want to try before I buy and no one around here has anything like that as far as I know.

Somewhere in PA on my Ultra Limited
Smoked 1.5PAD for 33 years (except for the 4.5 years in the Infantry when I smoked 2-3PAD). Diagnosed with COPD, taking Advair daily and using an asthma rescue inhaler sometimes 2-3 times a day. One day over the Christmas holidays 2011, hanging out with my 12 year old watching the TV and a commercial comes on for SaferGigs. My son looks over and says "Dad, you should try those. We learned about them in health class and they'd be better for you".

That night I way over paid for the V2 Ultimate kit. It came a few days later and it was worth every penny because I threw away all my smokes and never looked back.

Now, way better gear/flavors and NO Advair and haven't used an inhaler since the day I started vaping.

I was hung over one day and fiance and I went into walgreens because she wanted something to drink, I was out of smokes and saw a disposable finity ecig behind the counter. Now I had heard of ecigs before, but always thought they were some fake thing with no nic just for quitting, when I saw this had nic andit said "Equal to 2 packs" (which is debatable) I decided to try it because it was cheaper than buying 2 packs of analogs, fell in love right away and didnt touch a cig since

(As I always said, I make some of my best decisions when hungover lol )

Caught a comment another posted did in a boating forum talking about what he had done. He included a link to Cignot for his supplies. It caught my eye, browsed looking at the different models, got confused and ended up finding ECF by searching.

Knew I need to quit smoking with COPD diagnosed, but I didn't have the guts to do it. I saw vaping as a method that might could help. Have not smoked since my first kgo was delivered.

Somewhere out there
I first heard about ecigs from a cyber friend when her hubby had open heart surgery and her hubby had to quit smoking asap. They found ecigs and told me about them. So off I was looking to find out more. Back then not much available but I tried them because I wanted to quit smoking. tried some super mini's and other off brands, gave up for awhile and came back last year in June. So here I am smoke free since 9-15-11. WhooHoo!!!!!! bnrk

I wanted to quit analogs since my baby girl was born in '09 and almost did except that I got a promotion the day before my daughter was born (great!), but the added responsibilities increased my stress levels (bad!) which ended up making me a PAD smoker when I hadn't been for nearly 8 years of smoking. Fast forward to May this year and the stars just seemed to align the way things sometimes do in life. A close colleague at work strolled into the office one day "smoking" a cig as cool and calm as can be. Mind you, I'm his boss and I'm having a meeting with members of my staff as he takes a seat, puffing away with abandon. We all turn to him like "Dude, what the hell's wrong with you?" (and everyone's looking at me to see if I'd rip him a new one) when he looks at me with a smirk and says "you can't do a thing, boss, it's legal and it's not a cigarette anyway." Then I see the blue light at the end of what he's smoking and figured it wasn't a cig after all. Our meeting abruptly turned into a game of 20 questions about this contraption hanging off his lips. At the same time, my wife and I were expecting our second child (another baby girl) and I'm itching to quit. Days before she goes into labor I have the first honest heart to heart with my wife about my smoking habit which she had done her best to turn a blind eye to, but it obviously bothered her whenever I came back the house reeking of Marlboros only to sheepishly explain that I was hanging out with a bunch of smokers "and you know how that stuff just sticks to you.". So I tell her the truth, thag I want to quit, that it would be tough, that I needed her support and that I thought I'd stumbled upon a possible way out with ecigs. She was completely supportive, happy we had the talk, and agreed tha anything that wasn't a cigarette was worth a try. Next day, I head to the BP gas station, picked up a disposable Blu cig, ripped up the remaining pack of analogs and haven't had one since. Day later, our littlest one was born and the pure joy of knowing that my daughter's first smells didn't include analog smoke made one of the best days of my life even better. The rest is history - dumped the Blu and, later, the ProSmoke for an Ego-T and on my way to reducing my nic intake from 18mg (where I started) to 0mg (at 11 now and switching down to 6 over the weekend).

... And then there's the fact that analogs by me (NYC) are $12.50 a pack. By the end of the year, I'd save enough money to buy everyone on this thread a Provari and still have change left over (haven't really calculated it, but I'm probably not even exaggerating)!

That's my story... :)

I kind of doubt that anyone reads these "beginner" posts, but here goes. My man quit smoking and started vaping a few months ago and has been trying to get me to quit ever since. I tried a few different options that he brought home, but was never really satisfied. A few weeks ago, he purchased for me an eGo-T battery and got me set up with some Boge cartomizers and a few good juice flavors, and I haven't looked back since. After smoking for over 3 years, I can honestly say that now I don't miss it.

My sister's fiance was up to 2 PAD. One of his buddies works at a smoke shop and my sister bought him a kit (I think it's a 901? 3 piece thing with the little cartridges). I tried it and thought, why not? For years I'd been telling my family I didn't WANT to quit. The truth is, I couldn't. The patch didn't work, the gum didn't work, Chantix made me smoke more. I was in trouble and my lungs were screaming every morning.

A week in, I got tired of the mess of the little tips, it whistled on inhale, and the tobacco flavor tasted like crap. I found the forum and SteelJan and GrimmGreen on youtube and bought the Volts. I was off analogs for 4-5 months. Then we had 2 family members die within a few weeks, I wasn't prepared with charged batteries, filled cartos etc. and went back to smoking.

4 Months later, I'm back. I have 4 78mm batteries, a ton of prefilled cartos, 4 X2 650mah batteries (I like to use 2 flavors at once and rotate 2 charging, 2 using... plus I like colors, I'm a nut) and God only knows how many juice bottles. I'm not pressuring myself. Someone on here said "I vape when I can and smoke when I have to". If I NEED a cig, I vape for 10-15 minutes nonstop. Sometimes that works, sometimes I want the cig. I've been through about 2 packs in 2 1/2 months. I'll take that as a win and keep at it.

I think the important thing is.... even if you DO have a cig, keep vaping. Don't give up on it. There comes a time when 2 puffs into a cig, you'd PREFER your vape. That's where I'm at now. I doubt I'll HAVE to have another cig now. If I do, it's not the end of the world, because it's not the end of my vaping.

My biggest reason was I got a 3 yr old son that I don't want to force being around the crap. I haven't smoked around him since he was born but I know the smell and whatnot still remains on my clothes. I've tried doing the cold turkey thing but it didn't work for me so I just kinda gave up. I was on a website one day say an advert for a free e-cig, decide to check it out. Needless to say i didn't order it but it caught my eye and started looking up info about em. Like you the Blu is the first real one I looked into and was actually on my way to my local wal-green to get one. When i got there they didn't have any so i ran to the tobacco shop and they had a Red Dragon brand. The guy said it was good and all, bought it used it for a week and ended up hating it. I don't quit real easy so i checked out some other and ended up getting a volt and haven't been dissapointed yet. I think this is a great alteritive to using analogs. I still got alot to learn but I figure I'll get there.

well to be honest, I loved smoking, and really didnt want to quit. I had heard about the e-cig and was kinda facinated by the fact that it looked like a cigarette and it would be fun to mess with non-smokers. I figured that I'd get one and "light" up in public places and watch the scowls. Now Im was always polite when lighting up in public places, I would go far away from "people" or lurk in the shadows etc. But I would always be amazed how even if I was doing my best to stay away, non smokers would start to "hack" yards away from me as soon as they would detect me. Even on the windiest days, they would start to hack like 10 pack a day smokers. I would always remember the words of a great comedian( heavy smoker) Bill Hicks, he had many jokes in his routine about non smokers. He would mention the same thing, and he would tell the nons, "here Im smoking packs a day and you all are the ones with the hardcore coughs" he would crack me up, but alas he died young of pancreatic cancer. He would joke about how he always figured cigs would kill him. Oh well, to back to my reason.
My aunt which has been smoking for years, has been having problem with chronic pneumonia and collapsed lungs and decided on the Hilton MIst, and talked me into it. I was about to go out and buy my usual carton of marlboros and thought about the price and taxes going up. I bought one pack and ordered the hiltons. Though the hiltons werent the greatest, I found I liked it. I did a search on net and found your wonderful site. Realizing the reason I was not overjoyed was the limitations of the cig type PV. SO after much research and posts I got my KGO yesterday. I love it. I finished that last pack and havent gone back. It wasnt easy, kept feeling like something was missing, felt restless, and had a slight headace till my body readjusted to lack of toxic stuff. Now, ive been around smokers and dont mind the smell etc. Im not going to become a crusader or start hacking when I get around analog users, It was my decision. I really like it and even if the reason to switch was basically a sort of "jerk" reason, at least I switched.

Several people I was acquainted with several years ago got into mall-type e-cigs...at the time I wasn't interested in quitting enough to try it, plus I toked on one and was unimpressed. But it put the option in the back of my mind. Sure as heck nothing else ever worked to keep me quit and I tried almost every method on the market.

Had a health scare several months ago that turned out to be a false alarm - but I revisited the idea, did research here, asked a lot of questions while playing with disposable e-cigs, and here I am with a drawerfull of 50-60 juices, three PVs, boxes and boxes of different style cartos...:)

I love reading the beginner posts! Not just because I am a beginner but because I like helping others once I have advanced past the beginner level. "beginner" posts are some of the best posts in my opinion! Keep on Vaping VPCx3!

My cousin posted on Facebook last year how the e-cig helped him give up his cigarette habit

I was intrigued and started investigating. I bought a kit at a couple at a local gas station which was totally worthless.

I then bought a Yeti starter kit from AltSmoke and the rest is history. Smoked my last Kool on 11-23-11.

I now primarily use Egos with a carto or Stardust. Ego-C twist with a Ego sized tank is pretty good for my daily vape when I have to carry to work.

I recently bought a Bolt and a Vivi Nova. Waiting for my Kick to come in the mail.

I guess I'm hooked to vaping now. Still using 24mg juice. I do like flavors. Sin-Apple - Cinnamon - Peach
