WOW, seems unlike almost everyone else, I did not quit on accident per-say! My full intentions were to quit smoking analogs for good. I am 38 years old, and have tried everything, patch, chantix, nicotine gum, and cold turkey. Nothing worked. I went to a local convenient store, and for about a week I was looking at the little display of njoy ecigs, and thought I can guarantee that won't work. So I put off buying a disposable one for long enough, and while I was buying a pack of cigarettes, I picked one up. Spent $10 on the pack of Cigarettes and $10 for the njoy disposable. What the hell, I will at least give it a try. When I pulled it out and took a "toot", sound like Grimm Green, I did not really get any good amount of vapor. So I thought Gimmick, but continued to use it all the way to work for 1/2 hour. By the end of the drive. I was thinking this was not too bad, but not great. When I got home from work, I let my wife try it, and she was not as receptive as me, she said it was not going to satisfy her cravings at all. Boy was she wrong. The next day I went back to the same store, and ended up getting the njoy battery with 1 carto, for each me and my wife. That was the last day I smoked an analog, but my wife smoked a few more, but we have not smoked analogs since April 19, 2012, just over a month. After we got a couple of packs of cartos for $20 for 5 filled with tobacco 18%, I started to do some research online, and found the ego c for me and the ego t for my wife. Got them, and thought they were better then the NJoy, but still not exactly what I was looking for. I got a couple of DCT 3ml for the egos, and it was getting alot better. Now after a month my wife uses a Silver Bullet from AltSmoke, and I am using a Bolt, until my solid Stainless Steel Apollo's version of the LavaTube comes in probably this coming week. Next month I will be graduating from College with my BT in Network Administration, and my 19 year old daughter and wife are getting me the chrome ProVari, I HOPE!! Anyways, that is my story, I know I get carried away when explaining a story, but this is something that I really feel strongly about, and if I can help just one person, I will feel like I changed their life. I have already got my daughter and her boyfriend to buy a starter kit, and it just came in today, hope it works as well as it did for me. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend, and Vape On!!!

See the baby in my avatar? That was our grandson at 2 weeks old. I can't think of a better reason to quit :)

My 9 biggest reasons also. When the grandchildren are around I wanted to spend time with them, not running outside to. "have a cigarette) . When my oldest granddaughter told her teacher that smoking doesn't hurt you " cause my grandma is fine and she Is old already) I knew the time was Now!!! Been a month, I've slipped a few times, but I will do it.

I started quite by accident. I was installing internet at one of my customers and waiting on his IT guy to show up. When he did, I thought he had that old "Bob Dole" thing going with a pen in his hand constantly (later I learned it was an Ego). All of a sudden, he took a drag off of it, blew "smoke" all over the place and my customer freaked out (he was a doctor and this was in a doctor's office mind you). About 5 minutes of explanation went by and I was intrigued. As a 1.5-2 pad smoker for over 10 years, this seemed like it was too good to be true: nothing burns, it tastes good, nothing harmful that we know of...and it's cheaper once you get in a groove. I went home, did a bunch of research, and that same week hit the only brick-and-mortar we have in town. I started with an 808 style kit with a bunch of cartomizers. A week later I was back for blank cartos and ejuice. Two weeks later I was back for an Ego upgrade. Two weeks after that and I'm sitting here with my first mod in hand (FedEx just delivered it 2 hours ago and I'm haphazardly trying my best noob moves on this whole dripping thing). So, one month in, I'm hooked and honestly have zero desire for an analog. It's a great conversation starter now too. If I can convince more of my friends to give it a go, get them off the analogs and on to this then hopefully we'll all still be around 20 years from now and laughing at how silly we were for smoking in the first place.

I never really thought much about quitting. I was randomly reading about e-cigs and decided to try them out, thinking I'd maybe just cut back on the smoking. I ordered a Volt starter kit and an X2 battery from Smokeless Image and have liked it so far. I got the equipment yesterday and haven't had a real cig in a day and a half.

i had tried chantix, but never stopped smoking, just cut down... i just really like the act of smoking but was getting tired of having everyone on my case all the time about the smell, etc. i figured this would be a great way of getting around all of that! i tell myself i "switched brands" to get me over the automatic rebellion of "oh yeah? i'm going to smoke FOREVER" that had ruined my last few attempts!

My sis told me her husband quit with ecigs and the whole idea of electronic cigs that produce vapor instead of smoke sounded totally neat.

No more ashes, burn holes in my clothes, etc.

The ecig concept is so basic, yet so innovative. I wonder if it was actually invented fifty years ago.. maybe by some guy stuffing tobacco into a little flashlight and trying to smoke it, you know? Haha..

I don't make a lot of money, and cigs were getting more and more expensive, and I felt like I was basically paying a big tobacco company to make me sick. What sense does that make?? E cigs seemed safer, and cheaper, and do save me money and it's definitely more enjoyable!! No more having to pause the tv and go outside, no more ashes and smelling it on clothes or in my hair. Nothing but positives and still happily vaping after almost 2 years now!

Like many others here I was an accidental quitter. I bought the ecig cause it was to cold to go outside every hour during work, so I figured I can use the ecig in the interim. After using analogs and ecigs for a few months, I just woke up one day and decided I was done with analogs. The scary part of this, was I didn't even have to try to quit, it just happened.

It is kind of scary isn't it.
My Mom got an eGo T, I took a couple hits of of it and 2-3 days later still remembering how enjoyable the taste was (she had some kind of cappuccino), couple days after that bought one of my own, one week later totally dropped 34 year PAD cigarette habit.
I'm pretty amazed.
and thankful.

Me too, Echofinder. I enjoy smoking and I always have.

The fact is, though, is that employers don't like it. Girlfriends don't like it. Taxes on it keep doubling. Smokers are being shut out and shut in every way imaginable, more and more every year. If you have kids and dare smoke around them, even in the car with the windows down, you're such a villain.

It's something that I enjoy, but I'm tired of hiding it and feeling like a leper. It's time to quit.

I actually prefer vaping to analog. But when all yer stuff quits at the same time. You know, when all yer batts go to pot, and yer outta cartos anyway, and all ya got is five bucks, 'cause th' tax man got th' rest. Well I ran out to th' corner store, and bought a pack. Why can't I run out to th' corner store and buy vaping supplies? I gotta mail order 'em, an' try to keep a stock of stuff.

Well th' other day I ordered up some blank cartos, an' a couple of new batts. Threw away about 20 bad batts, and about 200 used up cartos. (used up, as in reloaded numerous times, they were yucky) and started over from nearly scratch.

I started out with the E-9 which worked well for me, but hadda come from China. at that time no-one here had anything close. Then I found, through ECF, that LeCig had what they called a "D2" which is pretty much an E-9. But the cartos that they had at that time, actually sucked. So I would get cartos from china, and batts from Arkansas. Then they came up with the "Vaperiot". Pretty much an E-9 with the good cartos. Coupled with juice from Arizona. And I can now get my supplies in a reasonable time. And at about the same overall cost, as ordering from China.
So I'm back to vaping again. :D

I would love to not feel so odd vaping in public too. People are at least used to seeing cigarettes. Not having to hide vaping would be great. Don't know what impact the new blu news will have on that.

Jennie, I think about that, too. I'm getting used to puffing on my ecigs in public now, though, because "I know" it's not a real ciggy.

I'm sure that anyone who sees me puffing on my eGo and sees the smoke-like vapor coming out will automatically assume I am smoking. I guess the real challenge will be to try and pull it out and start puffing on it in a restaurant or scarier yet, on an airplane! Imagine the horrorrrrr..

I've used it at happy hour at OTB, in the Jeep, but I don't think friends who haven't smoked understand it. I don't care, but it would be nice to be able to puff on it without people assuming it's smoke or treating it as such.
