Why do I never see anyone using ecigs?

This BBS is huge, lots of posters, you see advertisements for ecigs everywhere, but I NEVER EVER see people using them in public, in bars, anywhere... Id still be quite afraid to use one in a bar because the owner probably wouldn't allow it, and if I'm going to have to go outside to use an ecig, I might as well smoke a cigareatte instead...

Where are these people who use them?

I see them on rare occasions when I'm out. Keep in mind that most smokers are used to not smoking in public places anymore. Most restaurants and stores are banned for smoking and have been for years. I tried to vape in Wal*Mart and just put it away because it just felt weird!! Besides, most vapers are busy buying more goodies online or chatting on the ECF!! LMBO!!!

The problem with that is that it actually hurts the cause in a way. The more people see these devices, the more they will realize they really aren't like cigarettes. I'll also say that people that won't use anything but, a PV that resembles a cigarette in public are hurting the cause even more.

I actually had a restaurant manager tell me that the only time he had one cause a problem was because it looked like a cigarette. I vaped all I wanted on my box mod with no trouble.

That's why supporting vape meets and the like are so important. I would rather see tons of vapors than smokers. There is a large vape meet upcoming in Las Vegas called vapefest , and an upcoming one called vapestock. If you don't have a local vapers club in your community, start one. Join CASAA. They have tons of great info that can help. We gotta get the word out to more folks. Their lives really do depend on it.

"Luke. I am your Father, Come to the dark side." Darth Vader says with a large cigarette looking lightsaber. " Never!" says Luke
sporting a variable voltage clear duel coil 1.5 ohm looking lightsaber (with millemium milkshake juice what else) " There's still good in you Father. I can sense it. You can join with me and the light side of the Force.. and besides, PV's are way cooler." :p

Here is a story I've repeated a few times now...one cop knew what it was...one didn't...

I got to show off my MBVV to some cops yesterday. I accidentally set off the alarm at a customer's house. (I forgot they had changed the code.) So, when the cops showed up, I was standing on the front porch waiting for them...vaping away. Since I don't currently utilize my "choir boy" good looks with the pony tail & goatee...they put me through the third degree. After about 20 minutes of answering their questions, one of them asks me what "that thing" is. I tell him it's a personal vaporizer that I use in place of smoking. I took a huge pull & blew a Malty Toffee cloud right at him. He cringed, thinking it was going to smell like smoke or something, and then relaxed & told me it smelled like chewing gum. And that was it. They were even nice enough not to charge me for the false alarm I had caused.

I don't go out unless I have to, but I have encountered a few vapers in our area of East Texas and in other cities I have visited. Also, in and around airports, shopping centers, etc.

I just saw one other vaper in a restauant here, and it was another woman using what looked to me like an Ego but not sure.

So many are hesitant to vape in public, and while I am NOT forceful about it, if I am going to be there a while, I will ask the management and get their OK. Have not had one have a problem with it yet.

I googled to find the number. It's estimated to be a $100 billion industry but the estimate I found says 300,000 vapers as of 10-2009. That's believed to be severely under estimated.

More and more people are vaping, but only 23% of the population smokes. Add that to people who discretely vape in public and you wouldn't expect to see that much open vaping. I openly vape outside stores and stealth vape inside. I carry it into restaurants and stealth it after a meal. Most vaping, I think, is done in cars and homes.

It's kind of like the joke about elephants hiding in M&M bags. Have you ever seen one in an M&M bag? They sure do hide well, don't they?

We need to infiltrate the break areas where people smoke. Lots of vapers don't go there because they don't like smoke. Every time I vape in a crowd, people are interested in what it is and how it works. They always tell me something like, "I need to get my Dad one of those. Maybe he'd quite smoking cigarettes."

I've been vaping for two years and have never seen anyone vaping at random either.

I've had three friends try them. Two couldn't stand them . One said they got her sick. The other one is still going and has cut his smoking in half. But he started with the best e-cig of the three--a Riva 510. We'll see how long he lasts.

Also, I'm in a group where about half the people smoke. A group of about 100 people. Many have asked about them, but not a single one is vaping after seeing me doing it for two years.

Also. note that this forum has about 60,000 members, but only about 9,000 active. Does this mean that the other 51,000 gave up or never even tried ?

Let's face it --vaping isn't something that most smokers are interested in. Either they don't really want to quit (the majority), or they think vaping is vastly inferior to smoking in terms of taste and sensation. Or they think vaping is the same thing as smoking and a lot less convenient. Or they haven't got the $40 or so up front to try it properly. Lots of excuses. Little action.

I vape if I am walking across a parking lot or sidewalk. I vape of course while driving. If I go to any fairs or expos, I vape. I haven't seen anyone else in my area, except for th guy at work who got me hooked with a 510 set-up. Vapers, where are you? I would have thought by now I would have at least seen someone using a PV in their car, but all I see is people throughing those nasty butts out the window. I really wish some capers were close enough to me cause I just went through my stock and OMG do I have juice. Some I even forgot I had.

I have seen a few people with the minis from gas stations. I don't really talk to them though.

The one guy I did talk to had some variant of an 808 and went on and on about how it is stupid to use manual batteries and my mod looked stupid.

I don't really want to talk to people about vaping, but the again I don't want to talk to people about anything.

I bought my brother in law a Riva kit at his request. I took it over and showed him how to use it and gave him about 35 pages I printed out of the library in color from "The Wonderful World of Vaping."

I heard through his son that he said the ecig is alright for vaping at the Waffle House and places where you can't smoke, but it's not the same. Ecigs aren't for everyone, apparently.

I haven't seen anyone vaping in Pittsburgh either. I have however noticed that when I use my kr808 or similar "cigarette" looking PV I get tons of questions about it but I use my mods that look like crack pipes and people leave me alone lol. I think we should get the word out for them by having a Vape Day! Kind of like ........ has 4/20 we can have 5/30. At 5:30 on 5/30 the whole world will take a vape! That would rock haha

Most people that start vaping want an ecig that looks like a cigarette, then decide that it's better if it looks like something else. Stealth vaping requires a different look to prevent cigarette nazis from reporting you to management. Maybe it's the different look that turns people off. An Ego in black looks like a Darth Vader device.

Where are you at in east Texas? might have been me? LOL

I dont see any vapors myself- BUT, I usually only go to church, walmart and the feedstore- BUT, I have turned quite a few people onto vaping, so I know they are out there-

I just mostly go to places where you cant smoke to start with, so noone really vapes. LOL

The only people I see vaping around here are the people I have turned on to vaping. I have purposely looked for it since I started. While driving or riding in the car, I look at the people in other cars to see if they are smoking or vaping. When I am shopping, I watch to see if I see any vapers. Even in the department stores I am more curious now when I see a person lingering in a corner for too long. HAHA! I have always enjoyed "people watching". Even more so now.
