Why do I never see anyone using ecigs?

There are an estimated 47 million smokers in just the US alone. That is roughly about 23% of adults who openly smoke (not including closet smokers). That is a pretty staggering number. Now, consider how long ecigs have been around and then take into account that the only people to even use them are in fact, smokers (well, ex-smokers now :thumb:). Out of the estimated 47 million people who smoke in this country, only a small fraction of that number is taken up by ecig users. In essence, we are the minority of the minority, but our number's are growing!

For a great number of us on these forums, chances are we had never even heard of an ecig a few years back. Cigarettes keep getting more expensive, tougher legislation against smoking continues to get passed, and health concerns is an ever-growing public awareness. On the other hand, ecigs keep getting less expensive, you have the freedom to virtually vape anywhere, the product continues to improve, and there are no real health issues to address. Topped with the fact that ecigs just may be the easiest method to break free from smoking the world has ever known, it is just a matter of time before the word gets out to the masses and our ranks explode!

I think within the next few years we should see a dramatic increase in our fellow vapers walking about. Until that happens, we should all think of ourselves as the forefather's of a future evolution. :vapor:

As many people we have on the forums it is only a tiny percentage of the population out there. We all here vape but until the majority of analog smokers become vapers we probably won't see many folks out there puffing on a PV. We are just too spread out in this world to run into vapers on a regular basis.

I was at a club in a local casino a few months ago watching a friends band and sucking on my kr808d-1 and out on the dance floor I kept seeing this huge cloud rising up from one source. It just had to be a vaper with an awesome mod just vaping away down there. It was just way more than any cigarette or cigar could produce. LOL it was great!

Electronicstix is in Ogden and they even have a vapers lounge.

I've thought about making the drive up there, but it's about an hour and a half away. Also, I-15 is a mess, so add another 30 minutes to an hour. Kind of hard to justify the gas just to see a few vapers. Oh, then I would probably see something I really want and I'd spend even more money. I've already spent more in the past few weeks on mods, parts, and juice then I would have spent in two years smoking. :) I'll probably check them out next time I'm up visiting family though.

I have seen two. One at a casino. The other was an old lady who walks around in the pharmacy I work at shopping and vaping. She got me interested in it. Now I vape everywhere. At a piano bar last week, I vaped openly all night (tobacco flavors and alcohol worked for me to not smoke). I saw a few people point and talk about it. But no other vapers, only smokers.

The few at work I have tried to get interested in it have not lasted. They spent $100 or so on crappy pvs from the local smoke shop. Against my advice. One even disregarded an email I wrote her (I spent an hour or so giving links and info) to purchase a pv from a mall kiosk. It is always the same story. "Oh, I love this one. I don't need any of those weird ones online. Yours looks like a screwdriver (provari). I like mine." A week later, they're back to smoking.

FYI, I don't recommend the provari, but the ego-t to newbies. I think it's a good starter, easy and stylish (as much as one can be).

Since the smoking ban went into effect last November in the bars here I see them more often. Odd, all of us have an Ego tank model. Seems to be the in thing. I think I can name over a dozen people that cross social circles with me that I know vape. Some only occasionally, some have made it a hobby. It is catching up in my area quite quickly. I also delivered a pizza to a guy at a hotel with a PV the other day, but it looked like a disposable. At least the idea of it and the acceptance of it is getting familiar.

We have a LOT of vapers at my work, so I see it there a lot, but I never see e-cigs in use outside of that. I just went to a vaping meetup at a local restaurant last week, and it was a very strange experience, seeing so many people I don't know, tooting away on their mods and eGos.

I dream of a day when such a sight is commonplace. That'll be fantastic.

Wow. I see them pretty often around here, mostly at bars and the coffee shop I frequent. We don't have a smoking ban either, so I'm not sure why I'd see them more often than some of the rest of you, but they're here and visible. People ask me if it's an electric cigarette more often than they ask me what it is.

Hi, imsoenthused! I'm from Tulsa. One day my daughter and I were riding in the car and she said, "that guy next to us is smoking a pipe." When I asked her what? She said, "a pipe....a piece of pipe!" When I caught up with him and looked over, he was vaping a GGTS! Ha. My daughter knows about vaping, and she sees my pvs (an eGo at the time...a REO now) but had not seen a GG.

I've never really seen it either. Maybe once or twice. I don't think it's a bad thing though. I think the whole "let's not be seen doing it so they can't get mad at us for it and ban it" is the whole ostrich in the sand thought process. We NEED to be seen. We NEED to educate people that this is NOT the same as smoking. If the general voting public doesn't understand, they'll believe whatever they want to believe. I'm sorry to say, but I think the majority of people who see somebody vaping is going to automatically assume it's smoke. That is one bad thing against us. Unless we can make a vaporless e-cig or one that produces "green" (green is good these days right?) smoke, something separates us visibly from smokers, we're going to be considered smokers by the uneducated. So to me, the more you're seen, the more you educate when being seen, the better off we all are.

I haven't seen anyone where I live either. I do however live in the south, and where I live people tend to be a little bit behind on everything including fashion, e-cigs, different trends etc. So it doesn't surprise me that we don't have a single local supplier or even a mall kiosk here with one... so if they ever do ban juice from the mail then I would be screwed.
