Almost everyone I know who knows that I've been doing this instead of analogs for a week has said the same thing: "Congratulations! That's awesome! Because now you can back down on the nicotine until you're not doing that any more, either, right?"
I've finally just taken to saying, "I'm not concerned with quitting nicotine." Because I'm not. And it seems many on this forum have vaped for years and are happy doing it. But people seem disappointed that I am not driving to "really quit" in THEIR eyes.
If I had to tell myself that I needed to cut down and quit THIS too, I'd be very discouraged. Quitting smoking is a VERY BIG DEAL for me, and I'm fine with it. No, more than fine - I'm ecstatic!
Do other people have the same experience with comments from others?
And this is one of the reasons many people don't even try vaping. They think it's part of some program, Nicotine Anonymous? They don't realize yet vaping is cool, vaping is fun, sure it can save your life by getting you away from the analogs, but it doesn't have to be some type of 12 step program to ween yourself off nicotine. Quitting smoking (or whatever reason you're using it) can be the reward in and of itself. People don't like to feel like they have a problem, so in their minds vaping is admitting they have a problem. A friend of mine saw me vaping and asked if it "worked" because he had tried the patch and the gum and it didn't work for him. Well, of course it didn't, the gum tastes crappy and what fun is sticking a patch on your arm?
