others will always try to "down" your success.. its human nature...
Almost everyone I know who knows that I've been doing this instead of analogs for a week has said the same thing: "Congratulations! That's awesome! Because now you can back down on the nicotine until you're not doing that any more, either, right?"
I've finally just taken to saying, "I'm not concerned with quitting nicotine." Because I'm not. And it seems many on this forum have vaped for years and are happy doing it. But people seem disappointed that I am not driving to "really quit" in THEIR eyes.
If I had to tell myself that I needed to cut down and quit THIS too, I'd be very discouraged. Quitting smoking is a VERY BIG DEAL for me, and I'm fine with it. No, more than fine - I'm ecstatic!
Do other people have the same experience with comments from others?
That's a good opportunity for us to educate, so I think we should welcome it.They are uninformed and automatically assume anything with nicotine will cause you to get cancer.
New here to this whole vaping thing. Has been just over a month and honestly I love it. I had no intentions to quit analog but after seeing a friend switch over I decided to give it a try. Have not had a normal cigarette since I got home from the vape store. My husband even gave it a try and plans to use it to quit completely.
My friend and I have also managed to get several people at work to join our little "cult"but there are still those people that have to be a party pooper. Have had several people, my husband included, ask when I plan to quit. Honestly probably never, I remind them I am no longer polluting their air space so they need to get off my back about it.
Yeah, I really think those are the correct arguments to be making...My mother was bad about this after I first switched. Over 3 years and a bunch of repetition later, I have finally convinced her that I function better on nicotine, that it isn't any worse than caffeine, and I'm actually protecting myself from alzheimers, airborne illnesses, and going back to smoking. She seems to have accepted it.
I don't agree that you are never going to get through to people.U are never gonna get thru to ppl. So just let them say what they are gonna say and tell them, "that's cool."
Actually, it's pretty much always Big Pharma that is paying them to say these things. What those people don't know is big tobacco paid them to say that.
Ultimately - I wouldn't mind weening off the nicotine...simply because it's not a necessary ingredient to an enjoyable vape.
