Why do we call cigarettes analogs?

Just something I'm learning being new to this community. I mean E-Cigs are mechanical in nature right? Power source, and a heating element. I'm just wondering what we'll call cigarettes if e cigs ever become truly digital. Or if we'll even have cigarettes then . I'm just musing and wondering what others think.

I think that for better or worse, "analog" is burned into the vaping lexicon. It's not really an accurate term, but I like it better than "stinkies."

Very true. I don't have a problem with the term but when I first saw it on here I thought the person was talk about a different type of PV. Then I figured out they meant cigarettes

old style cigarette are called "analogs" for one simple fact. are personal vaporizers are of the digital age. analogs vs digital make sense now

A ......ed term used by those attempting to describe conventional cigarettes. These people are completely ignorant to what "analog" actually means.
After I quit analog cigarettes, I started smoking electronic cigarettes.

It's really simple ecigs are digital therefore the old way is analogue. Just like DVDs are digital and VHS is analogue, or CDs are digital and cassettes are analogue. It's a basic description in almost every tech dictionary.

Although it is not as fitting in this case it works well for a descriptor.

Best solution is to lead by example and play dumb when people call cigs analogs.
