I would think THAT type of rehab facility would be much more okay with vaping, LOL.

Though, honestly, I can't think of a meaner thing to do to a person who is going to detox, then rehab (for whatever stretch of time) than to take away their cigs/vape and replace them with the patch or something.

Seriously, if you're headed to rehab, your life already sucks. I know, I got to attend TWICE, LOL. The second place kicked me out early saying, "You know what to do already, just go DO it," but STILL. Life genuinely sucks so horribly that there is NO NEED for the cig/vape punishment AT ALL.

You'd think rehab facilities would get it.... For a long time, I yearned deeply for a rehab facility that would treat tobacco alone, that insurance would pay for, I would have GLADLY gone a time or two in the past, but no such animal exists.... Though it's starting to sound from the looks of things all I need to do is relapse, then go to one of these new fangled rehabs that think vaping and tobacco are weapons. Think I'll pass......

My guess is that the drug rehab is worried that drugs would be used in the vaporizer instead of e-juice. Because the vapor doesn't leave a noticeable smell behind it would make it easier to use illicit substances in their vaporizer without detection.
As I was reading, I was wondering why... And then came across your imput... I think you hit nail on the head. Nice analogy....

Bingo! My daughter was in a very serious auto accident a few years ago. She spent a month in the hospital and had two surgeries while there and two more after release. Months of recovery, PT, etc. Of course, she was on a LOT of pain medication but she also suffers from GAD and is bi-polar. *unmentionable* helps both of those issues so we set her up with a wax or oil vape that she used in the hospital. No doubt the staff at the rehab knows that things like that are pretty common.

All of that said, if someone brings an e-cig into a rehab that allows other forms of nicotine consumption, the e-cig could be examined to make certain that it will only vape e-liquid. Detox rehab facilities keep patients cigarettes, lighters, etc. at the nurse's station. Why would it not be acceptable to handle ecigs and eliquids the same way?
