one, two, three, four...LET'S START A FLAME WAR!!!

Seriously though, I personally wouldn't want a Provari, simply because I'm cheap and I can build a better VV/VW mod with less than $50 worth of parts. My go-to build these days is a 0.3Ω dripper build, so if it can't sub-ohm I'm not interested. But hey, that's me, and I don't mind carrying around a big ugly hammond project box with a couple of 18650's in it and a fat ... dripper on the top. A Provari just doesn't do the job I need it to.

However, take my sister. She is the opposite of a hippy. She likes nice clothes, nice things, and has no interest in carrying around a big ugly box. She thinks mech mods are big and ugly. She has no interest in fiddling with things or sub-ohming. She was hooked on egos and protanks until she tried my kayfun. She likes it, but hates my big ugly mods. Then I showed her the Provari.

Now she rocks the Provari and a kayfun all day long. It's the perfect device for her. It's sleek, elegant, durable, simple, and does precisely the job she wants. She doesn't care about the cost, and doesn't care that it only does 15w.

I don't know if she'll get a P3, but I just wanted to add to this conversation that I'm a 50w sub-ohm dripper kind-of-guy, and it isn't a stretch AT ALL for me to see why someone would want a Provari.

Wattage is attractive to those just starting out but many of us who have been doing this for a long time prefer something like a Provari, or a Reo or even a mechanical mod........... and we get along just fine.

Many of us who have been doing this a long time find wattage "attractive", whatever that may mean. I have a 2.5 and egarly await the 3.0 primarily for wattage. I build my coils and sometimes, due to age and eyesight, I miss wrap and get the ohms off more than I like. The wattage feature will help compensate for my deficiencies and I, also, will get along just fine.

I don't even have a cellphone, so that leaves me out.

and my 3 year old Provari works just fine

I have a nice flip phone, I actually can make calls on it, it won't do much else but that is what I bought it for - calls. One of these days I'm learn to "twit" or tweet or whatever.
My Provari is about three yoa also and still works as if it was new - wish I did.

I am with you. I have a Provari and I built an SX-350 box and like them both. I mess with coils and brew my own juice. My daughter has two Ego's, buys new coils and uses HHV Heavenly Tobacco. We are both pleased, neither of use has smoked for a long time and both are happy going our own way.

The Buzz uses stacked batteries.

So Mike just got his patent, I stand corrected.

Interesting read over at nu-vapor, Mike even states his intention to sell the patent to BT.
Dunno if i'm misunderstanding your direction in this convo or your misunderstanding my simple statement. Let me clarify.

Provari's is a boost regulator.

To that and that only, I replied...
3v to 6v to the output from a battery outputting anything from 3.2v to 4.2v suggests a buck/boost regulator to me.
I have no horse in this race. Was just reading through and thought I might help beings I was here.

Carry on.

I was just pointing out that the regulator that Mike uses in his BuzzPro is just a buck regulator with stacked batteries is all. I hadn't read his patent at the time I posted that.

You're really grasping for straws here. Evolv clearly had the first VW product on the market, the Darwin, which IIRC, was introduced in 2010. They also filed their patent application back then. And what matters with patents is when you disclose or start selling and when you file an application, not how long you've had something "in development".

Sorry didn't know you were a patent attorney or Philadelphia lawyer. I guess we won't be seeing the P3.

I own DNA devices but for my vape style a provari is fantastic. I vape at around 1-1.5ohm coils mostly on a kayfun with a device like this and I get long battery life, awesome vape, and even if you drive over it there is a chance that it's still working.

Will I buy the new Provari? Hell no way too expensive and a 2.5 does the same thing for me anyways.

been seeing alot of hype around the release of the new Provari. now im not trying to say its bad or anything but I dont know why people prefer a it as expensive as it is with such a useless power output. i guess they would be great for a newbie and ive heard they last for ever as far as regulated VW/VV devices go but seriously who the ....... pays that much for a device that puts out 20w. now 20w is fine for an all day vape but how are you going to expand into trying higher powered vapes when your so limited in power range, when you can get a DNA or 50W+ device for a fraction of the price and have a better quality more powerful vape, seems like madness to me

I guess you haven't seen PBusardo's video with Evolv....... ;)

    Have you ever met Phil?

I hang out with him every year at Vapercon in Richmond Va and you know what he's always using?

    A Provari.

Last year was the first time I had ever seen him in person with something else in his hand.....and thats because he was doing a review and figured Vapercon was the best place to test the new device out.

If you are a vaper who likes to keep set at the exact same setting all the time, then wattage is actually ideal for you. As you may know, your coil resistance can often come out of the package a few points off of the labeled resistance, and the resistance changes on the coils over time and usage.... Wattage mode will give you the exact same out put regardless of these factors while voltage will not

OR you could just buy 100 pre-punched cartos at the same resistance from a reliable supplier and never have to worry about it.

I have a variable wattage device.

Its called my finger and I use it to put items in my shopping cart.

Fact of the matter is that back in the day (and for me still now) the provari was and still is one of the finest PV's in the market and I really get a bit upset when people say its a "starter unit". What is a starter unit what is a advanced unit? Do I build myself up from a ego and end up with a tobh on a 26650 mod and a 0.1 coil?

I want to vape to get of cigs and a provari does the job just fine. I currently don't own one but I had 5 over the years and still believe its an amazing amazing reliable PV. I probably end up buying another 2.5 soon just for backup as I trust a old v1 provari more than any of these new DNA mods. Most of which are plastic boxes with cables.

No, No, No. It is underpowered for YOU not for everyone else. I vape for 4 years now and it's still not underpowered for my vape style.

Sure, if I want to go through the hustle to vape a 0.1ohm coil at 1000000 Watts ya than its underpowered.

Back then provari was a well built expensive mod.
Now it's underpowered and still expensive (2.5)
And the provari 3? Still underpowered.
