basically it boils down to 2 reasons...

Smoking is a 2 part addiction....Nicotine addiction and the hand to mouth "Act" of smoking addiction....

Why is it so easy to quit smoking with the E-cig?

Because we do not have to address either addiction... We still get our nicotine and we still get to pretend we are smoking..... That old saying comes to mind...."You can't have your cake and eat it too.."

Take them away and my bet is 95% of us will find out we haven't quit anything really.... Just replaced smoking cigarettes with these devices.. and the same 95% of us would have a pack of smokes before the sun went down....

It's not a knock on e-cigs, they are surely better for us in many ways...

Just saying be realistic... To truely walk free from the 2 fold addiction... we'll have to get our nic level down to 0 and then slowly ween ourselves of pluming huge clouds of nicontineless vapor..

eh, i still consider it quitting smoking. after all, smoking is the act of burning tobacco products in order to absorb the nicotine found within. by very definition, vaping isn't smoking since there's no actual tobacco involved. ergo, people who traded vaping for smoking no longer smoke.

HEAR HEAR!!!

I no longer smoke.....I simply suck nicotine :D

There's a certain element of chucking the smokes that's made me a bit confused, over and above the obvious withdrawels. There was always a guilt associated with smoking and I think, at least in my case, it was almost as much a part of my addiction as the nicotine.

Now on the smokeless ecigs I almost take comfort in still calling myself a smoker, although technically not "smoking" anything :p

I think a lot of the quiting problem of other methods is that the mouth/hand interaction is not needed. Pop a pill, put on a patch, nothing to do for the rest of the day except worry about when you can get your next fix. Vaping - something to interact with all day long, no worry, do it now. Complety different mind set to make it thru the day.

I dont know if I agree that nicotine plus the oral fixation makes it easy to quit smoking. I tried that stupid inhaler thing for a few months, talk about throat hit! Stung the crap out of my throat, was getting nicotine, yet still wanted a smoke. Its all nicotine for me and the slow release crap thats currently out there just takes the edge off a little, cravings still exist.

Does the habit ever really go away? No from my experience. My mother's father who is in his late 60's stopped smoking when she was 4. And still to this day craves a cigarette. The grip hold of that hand to mouth habit is a very tight one to quit and I give anyone who accomplishes that 10 gold stars, a pat on the back and the biggest thumbs up I can muster.

I never had an delusion about vaping making me no longer an addict.

But fact: I am no longer a smoker. I smoke nothing.

And you know what? I do have a goal to taper down eventually, but I will NEVER stop using nicotine completely.

Why? Because the reason I started will always be valid - it has positive effects on my health. SMOKING has lots of negative effects on my health, but NICOTINE is a whole different ball game. Nicotine is a valid potential treatment for lots of ailments. If you don't believe me, check out the research they're doing on nicotine's uses for everything from Parkinson's to mental illness to bowel disorders.

I do hope to someday not need it every day. I hope to be able to leave my house without my e-cig on me without going into a panic.

But I will always have an e-cig and some nic juice in a box somewhere. Always.

Because in addition to nicotines positive effects for me, having an e-cig around also prevents relapse to cigarettes. If I really get hit with a craving and I'm about to snap, I'd rather pick up my e-cig than pick up a cigarette.

I'm addict. I chose to be an addict (yes, really). I choose to continue to be an addict for my own reasons that only need to make sense to me.

I didn't walk into e-cigs with any stars in my eyes. I know I have made a life-long decision. And yes, I'm ok with that.

I don't think I'm just addicted to the "Hand to Mouth", and Nic. I'm now addicted to working out the Perfect Juice, and the satisfaction it brings to make something to vape. I'm constantly trying new things, different cart fillers, new mixtures, searching for the best VG, and PG mix, and flavor strengths.

The feeling of ordering that new toy, and knowing that there's a package in the mail with my name on it. Finding the best price on a Joye 510 that isn't fake. The converting of someone who sees it, and has tried some rubbish from the smoke shack, or one of those crappy brands. Or someone who has never seen it before. Maybe it's just the novelty of it all right now, but escaping the negative light that smokers are cast in...

I think I'm addicted to the Idea of the Personal Vaporizer, just as much as the Vapor its self.

e cigs work for me as a smoking alternative but, quitting is out. I was one who would have the highest patch on, chew a pice of nic gum while having a nic lozenge wedged in my jaw and still light up 3-4 packs a day. I tried Chantix, destroyed a few windowns and darned near my marriage on that GARBAGE, so tried a perscription inhaler, which resulted in me hitting it, then immidiately lighting a cigarette and then another hit, then a smoke.

All getting nicotine in any other form made me do was want to smoke more cigaretts, well an e cig cured that in 4 days flat. They smell better, taste better, are not messy, don't start fires, etc.. better for me or not, I like my Trilogy brand cigs, so I evolved and quit smoking caveman style, now i smoke the modern way and i don't need a lighter for it :)
