Hey, I thought that the FDA passed new laws that online vape shops had to check photo i.d. in order to prevent sales to minors, but I'm noticing that none of them are doing it, why are they going against the FDA and why is the FDA not doing anything about it??

SHHHHHHH !!!!!!!

Most online sites have a system that asks your name/address and birthdate, then it checks a database and passes you. I'm fine with that. But I am not about to go through the hassel of uploading a pic of my DL and/or selfie.....I've had only two sites ask me to do that and I canceled both orders.

Getting a tooth pulled at the dentist is a "hassel."

Taking a pic and uploading it takes all of 30 seconds. Not that difficult, really. And be prepared for a time when you may have to do that with every website.

Nope. The regulation states that they have to check your age. It doesn't state how they have to do it. There have been companies in existence for years now that specialize in this online. You don't need to upload a copy of your license. The shops that do so are doing this on the cheap. You provide this info at your own risk as the companies that ask for a copy don't specify what they do with it upon receipt.

Do they destroy it? Do they protect it from unauthorized viewing? Do all employees have access to it? Any online company that asks for a physical copy of my ID goes immediately to the "never go there again" list.

honestly I don't mind uploading my ID... Most Companies that do this only want your Name, pic and DOB.. you can easily edit the rest out. And even block out your eyes. I mean if you are using your Cell or a tablet to take the Pic of your ID anyway.. they have a little built in editing software. Not hard to do. :) Plus I've won giveaways where they just want to hurry up and make sure you are of age so they can get the ball rolling. No Problem with me.

NOW if they wanted the unedited license front and back, which I heard someone say a vape Co. asked for, then Hell NO!! or my SS # NOPE.

Total agreement Cosmic. Had my Discover card hacked twice in the last year (2nd time just yesterday). I hate it enough having my birthdate out there. When everyone requires a photo of my ID, that will be the key to start using my stash.

although there are some online vape sites that do actually ask for selfie & photo ID if under 27 or if they can't verify you through whomever their age verification provider is, only vape shops/stores 'offline' are actually required to physically check photo ID's.
Idk, check this out, it says that as of August 8th, all online vape vendors must check photo i.d. through a pre-approved online database. Why aren't more companies complying with this? Age verification for online vaping shops explained - Vaping360

most companies ARE complying with regulation requirements!!
i already know it is not a FDA requirement but, i re-skimmed through page anyways (already read it last year i believe) and no where on there, or on FDA site for that matter, does it say FDA requires an 'online photo ID' for age verification.. a State itself can require a photo ID for online sales though but, FDA does not.
