Why ProVari?

Lolz OK my last post as I don't own a provari I will never own a provari and I would never pay the price to have a provari. I will let you all win this one the provari is the king of all PVS and always will be as is the iPhone of phones and call of duty for fps games and Intel for CPUs and well you decide.

It's MY opinion, that ProVari does in fact make my e-liquids tastes better, due to its superior electronic circuitry

Is this statement not also subjective? Everyone's opinion is different. Everyone's taste is different. I have used provari. And frankly to me it's not worth the price. Others may be willing to spend the money and may think it tastes better. But if I spent $200 on a mod I'd want to make myself think it tasted better too just so I didn't feel ripped off.

Bottom line...if you like any mod (no matter what mod it is), and it can keep you off analogs...have at it and vape on! :toast:

Good thread....would read again. Better understanding of a few mods now and why they are so popular.

I agree. I'm quite glad I started it, even though some people misunderstood me at first. Yes, I was being critical... that was the point. Would you have really given as well of thought out responses if I hadn't been comparing certain features of the Provari to other devices? Have you stopped to think any of the points I made were rational as well? ;) I was just stating the point I was at. Here I had heard all this wonderful stuff, and then after reading the manual, I was disappointed because I found every feature that was pointed out of it already existed in other devices, and the features I would expect to be in such a high price device (like VW, or a more readable display) weren't there. Like some people keep going on and on about the weight... the Provari is not the only weighted device out there! That's like saying Logitech's mice are better than any other just because they have weights in them... when there's tons of mice out there that also have weights in them.

I just wanted to know what made the Provari so unique. So I challenged you... and that challenge has been met. :D I hope to see more responses like this from now on with the Provari threads when someone is saying they're considering making the purchase but isn't sure about it. You've got a standard to uphold now. ;)

Meanwhile, I'm going to keep the Provari in mind... and I'm leaning towards making it my next APV purchase. Don't get excited, now... I've already ordered an Evic, LOL, so the Provari will probably wait until that or what is going to be shelved as my backup (the Vape-Pro) dies... or until I just generally feel the "new toy" itch, which will probably come first (usually every 6+ months) but I always hope won't happen until a device actually DIES on me. Which I should point out is something to be said about most APVs in the $100 range give or take a little... I have yet to have a single one of them belly up on me in the past 2 years or so that I switched out my e-cig for an APV. Yeah, they get small issues sometimes that calls for warranty repair, but usually after it gets fixed, they just keep on and on and that's the last issue I have with any of them. I can sincerely say you generally can't go wrong with a $100 range APV... I have yet to find one that wasn't built to last, at least long enough to make up for it's initial price in analogues and then a lot more. In fact, my first APV is STILL going strong, even though I don't even own it any more (this is how I avoid APV clutter... I gift the ones that are no longer backups to other people that I want to help get off the analogues... makes the initial cost a little easier for them and helps them avoid the e-cigs and generally el cheapo vaping devices altogether, which I feel aren't powerful and/or well built enough for most regular smokers to kick the habit).

Thanks for all the great responses. Keep them coming! :)

I can't imagine being happier with a mod than I am with my Vamo. I haven't tried a provari because I don't know anyone that has one but I'm thinking they both have buttons that you push and then vapor comes out of a hole at the top. The fact that I could drive mine over with a car.. destroy it.. and not care is a selling point for me. I'll just pick another one of up for 27$ I guess.

That said I like nice toys and will prob buy a provari when both my vamo's die. Hopefully that won't be soon.

Yes, there is something to be said for cheaper models. No matter how much you spend on your device or how tough it is, accidents happen. And if you spent a lot on a model that later gets totaled, you will be crying, especially if you can't easily afford to repurchase it. Case in point:

I used to get the latest and greatest cell phones AND laptops. Then I had a kid...

The first accident happened when he was just a newborn. I was so sleep deprived I forgot to take my cell phone case off my pants and put it through a full wash (while it was turned on) before I realized what I had done... killed the phone, needless to say.

Next accident happened when he was about 1 year old. I was so distracted by wrestling with him over his car seat I drove off with my $1300 laptop on top of the car... it didn't kill it, but it caused enough cosmetic damage to it to cause my brand new laptop to now seem like some secondhand desertion.

Then my son knocked down a $600 laptop with plastic casing that broke. I thought I was being smart by replacing that with a $900 laptop with metal casing. He knocked that down too, causing the casing to completely peel apart and backwards, exposing the PVC beneath. It was only 2 days old at that point!

Then came cell phones again, this time smart phones. My husband stepped on my pants while they were next to the bed one day while I was taking a nap... smashed the screen on my brand new HTC Evo. Then later on down the road I got the brand spanking new HTC One X, which I was sure wouldn't get broken thanks to the Gorilla glass. That got broken by my (by then) 4 year old smashing it against the wall because he got mad about losing a game only about 6 months later. Gorilla glass... smashed to smithereens, along with other technical issues from the incident that kept it from booting at all.

I cried SO much over my One X (which would have cost $600 to replace) that was the point where I decided from now on I was only going to buy what I could easily afford to replace and simply ASSUME at some point or time my gadgets would get totaled via accidents before they actually wore out or broke on their own. I have even gotten those extended warranties... and the first device I did that with, a laptop, got stolen in a violent burglary while I was home, which meant losing even MORE on my investment than if I had gone without the extended warranty. Basically, ..... happens no matter how well you take care of your investment. Make sure you can normally afford whatever it is you buy, and ALWAYS KEEP BACKUPS. Always having a backup is what has saved me from a LOT of the situations I just described.

Don't splurge on a product just because you think it will last you a lot longer than something cheaper unless you can easily afford to replace it (and not cry if the replacement is cheaper than what you originally had).

Just a note. :)

No one is saying they hate the provari that's you lot saying it lmao at the end of the day its obviously a strong well made device as you all a love it but its certainly not worth the money not compared to other vv/vw mods. Almost any one with a vw device loves the feature and if the provari is to stay at the top they need a upgrade and soon and a price drop a good example is the iPhone when it came out it was top end best phone going but now its loosing its position to cheaper more feature rich android phones forcing iPhone to bring a new cheaper model.

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

Yeah, sorry to say, but I've had both VV and VW and VW wins with me hands down. Mainly because I've ruined enough carts/clearos as it is via cranking the voltage up too high trying to get more vapor. Not a concern with VW devices, and I can get pretty much as much vapor as I want without melting plastic. I'm not opposed to the Provari, even stated in my previous post I'm considering it as my next buy, but when given a choice between comparable products with VV and VW, VW always takes the cake.

I just received my Provari this past Monday and I wouldn't say I hate it but certainly wasn't very impressed after reading the hundreds of thousands of fan boy threads around.

In the end if you have nothing better to do with your money, buy a Provari. Otherwise move on and you won't be missing a thing. Most certainly one of the most over hyped devices on the market.

Yeah, I have to admit wanting to try the Provari enough to buy it is just curiosity on my part + having enough extra cash left over from not smoking analogues to easily afford it, LOL. Were I on a tighter budget I would not even consider it.

what is this Vape pro that you speak of?

Vape-Pro Deluxe Kit

The current device I'm using until the Evic gets here (got some shipping issues with that so it's taking longer than expected). The body by itself is $100 regular retail. I bought the kit on a nice discount, so I only paid about $100 for it. The price difference in the kit is because of the Odyssey tank, which normally costs about $40 or $60 by itself. BTW, I am glad I got the kit, because I would have never bought the tank normally... and it really is worth every penny. Even comes with a 5 year warranty to back it, and gives the best vape out of any of my tanks or delivery systems easily. The Vape-Pro itself is no joke, either... the body is one solid thick metal (I think perhaps steel, whatever it is, it doesn't take a single ding no matter how many times you drop it on any surface) piece. I can't even figure out how to dismantle it! LOL

my Vamo died last week so I'm thinking build quality is the main issue with china mods. I've had my first provari for almost 2 years and I know if I have any issues I'm sending it in to provape for repair my vamo on the other hand is going in the trash. the vape-pro looks like a re-branded smok zmax. don't get me wrong I love my Sigelei telemax but I don't know if it will stand the test of time.

There is not a single product I have bought from TW that has *not* stood the test of time. Even my first VV device, the Torpedo VVV, still looks and acts like it was bought a few months ago instead of several years ago. My Tornado prior to that is still going strong as well, and it's about 5 years old now. It isn't about brand trust as much for me as it is vendor trust. At the end of the day it is the vendor that deals with device failures, not the company that made it (or it should be the vendor, otherwise they're not a very good one IMHO)... and the vendor should only sell products that they know themselves to be of quality build. I've found that kind of vendor in TW. In fact, they recently won not just one but two of Reviewboard's top prizes: Totally Wicked Awarded Reviewboard’s Top Prizes

This was actually the bottom line reason why I went with the Evic instead of the Provari in my latest purchase. TW sold the Evic... but not the Provari. And I know nothing of how Provape handles their returns/technical support. However, I do know TW goes above and beyond every time I've had a problem. In fact, this Evic shipment got shipped to the wrong address and stolen, and TW is shipping me ANOTHER ONE. How many vendors would take that level of responsibility for a customer's shipment... especially one so expensive? Not many... I say this both from experience on the customer's end AND from past experience as a technical support representative in quite a few call centers. Stuff like that just doesn't happen... most companies don't care how mad the customer gets as long as they get their money at the end of the day, and blame their reps for customer dissatisfaction no matter what the reason for it is, even if the customer is mad over that company's own policies and lack of caring for them... they see it as the rep's job to keep that customer happy and in the dark about how little the company cares.

Has this changed?

ProVari - "MADE" in the USA

" Several have asked if the ProVari is just “assembled” in the US or “made” in the US, so to address this questions here are some details:

The ProVape-1 and ProVari are actually MADE and ASSEMBLED in the USA.

Parts - Machined right here in Monroe, WA. We use US-made stainless steel bar stock to produce the tubes, top caps, bottom caps, contact pins, etc. Everything is done on our machines locally. No outsourcing.

Bare Circuit Boards - Manufactured in Illinois. We do not purchase the circuit boards from China due to their poor quality. While the circuit boards are more expensive to produce in the USA; this is the heart of the system and it’s important to us that they are the best quality we can get. Each PCB is electronically tested before it ever sees components.

Electronic Components on Circuit Board – these are the only parts that might come from outside of the USA. Some of these parts are simply not made in the US, so we can’t get them from a US source, even though we would prefer to.

We use components from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, China and the USA.

Component assembly - Components are soldered onto the circuit boards at a facility outside Seattle, Washington. After getting components installed, the boards are tested several more times at our Monroe facility to ensure they are ready to ship. We test each one multiple times to give you the most reliable product you can get.

We don't cut any corners when it comes to quality control, testing, and component selection.

We love to hear all the positive comments about the ProVari and PV1. Thank you for your support!"

Here's the post from Provape I copies: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/provape/289525-provari-made-usa.html#post5869384

That kind of makes the point made earlier about the Provari being all American parts as well as assemblage moot, and puts it more on the level of the Vape-Pro. :-/ Which... the Vape-Pro is only $100 for the body. So where again does that extra $100+ go to?

It might not the king of all devices but it is fantastic. I regret the money I spent on other devices to finally get to the Provari.

Another thing I just noted... they only want the positive comments about the Provari. What about complaints? Feature requests? Etc. If this is a company that is really there for their customers, they should be open to all opinions and not just the praise, because while praise is nice, at the end of the day it's the negative comments that help you build a better product.

Well, that's just not accurate. Three weeks after I got my ProVari, I received an email from ProVape (I hope it's OK to post it here as it's just a form email--nothing personal):

I could have grabbed 5 drop-forged chinese wrenches at the flea market today for the cost of two Craftsman wrenches ... I grabbed the 2 Craftsman.... Great quality, and a warranty I can use if needed. ;) Since I've started vaping 2 1/2 years ago, i figured if I want to try out new gear, as long as I didn't exceed the $200.00+ a month I was spending on smokes, I'm not any worse off than before. :) It's a funny thing to hear about folks who spent countless $$ over the years for empty cig packs, ashes, and butts, not being able to justify quality vape gear purchases.

I always managed to come up with the $$ for cigs when I smoked... Now, since vaping, I at least have nice devices to show for the $$ spent.

This.

I get it when you're first starting out, especially if you're broke. It takes a while to break even and then longer to save up if you're still fighting with cartos/clearos or whatever and searching for stuff that works the way you want it. It's easy to find $7 for a pack every day...it can be harder to find a month's worth of cigs and not quite get a full setup for it.

When I was on Twists and shopping for my first mod, I did a lot of research. I looked at vmaxes and the first zmaxes, that smoktech box thing, lavatubes...almost bought that little 3-stage thing from 310 vapers.

At some point I did the math. I forget the exact details, but with what I was spending on cigarettes, I figured out that I could afford:

A new cartomizer every day.
150ml of high quality juice every month.
And six Provaris every year.
With money left over for incedentals like drip tips and replacement batteries.

I like my Provari overall. I think the menu system is absolutely asinine, but so is the menu on the Zmax, Vamo, etc.. And, adjusting to taste is the same regardles of whether the display is reading volts or watts. Plus, if you use 10W as a baseline, it's not hard to estimate where you want to be anyway.

I definitely use a kicked mech more often than my Provari, but I'd never say I'm sorry I bought the thing. It's totally worth the money. It's just not what I use 25/8 now that I can justify having more than one nice toy.

And, it still fires sane LR coils at least as hard as I feel safe doing with the unregulated very-low-resistance thing, except it does it all day long instead of for a little less than a third of the rated capacity of the battery before it feels week.

The folks that put them together get paid more than $2 an hour.

The components for the Provari are also military spec and the tube is machine milled - they're tested before they leave the factory, you also get a genuine 1 year warranty and great support.

The fact it's made it's American made plus quality and reliability make the Provari worth every penny in my book.

The Vape pro chipset is the same as all the others, so no research and development -when you buy a Vamo, Zmax, Sigelei, you buy the exact same mod but with a different tube.

Folks can expouse the virtues of variable wattage as much as they like but a lot of us get on perfectly well without it and have no need for it - variable voltage is a lot more versatile.

It doesn't really make it moot, pieces of the board not made in America are purchased outside of America. The board, a custom one that quite frankly regulates better than anything else I have used, is made in America. The stainless steel tube is made and coated (the coating is not especially cheap and is what some guns are coated in) in America. Everything but a few pieces..

The Vape Pro uses a made in china board that I can buy for $20 and that's not wholesale, that's retail. I am guessing the whole thing is an OEM from Smok.

So the extra $100, or $60-$100 as it is, comes from creating custom parts for the product, manufacturing in the USA and better materials.

I'm not sure what to tell you, I've had a decent number of other VV or VV/VW devices and it's pretty obvious if you have two of them and vape them side by side. I'm also not a fanboy and I think people should buy what makes them happy. So if the Vape pro and evic do it for you, stick with them.

I dunno but there are negative reviews of Provari's on provapes site. 1 and 2 stars

This is a pretty standard "ask for review" email. They want you to email them so they can fix the issue and retain you as a customer. I'm sure it doesn't always work out like that but that's the intention.

And note, I understand the internal design costing more... but does it really justify the double price? Guess I'm just going to have to wait until I can try one...

I hate using the car analogy but it's like comparing a run of the mill, cheap family car with a top of the line car - they'll both get you where you want to go but the more expensive of the two will get you there more comfortably and won't run the risk of breaking down before you get there.

Eventually, when your cheap car is in the junk yard, your expensive car will still be running and getting you where you want to go.

Some people like driving automatics, real enthusiasts like stick.

I'm not sure I understand your comment, Fury. I posted that email in response to OP's complaint that
they only want the positive comments about the Provari. What about complaints? Feature requests? Etc. If this is a company that is really there for their customers, they should be open to all opinions and not just the praise, because while praise is nice, at the end of the day it's the negative comments that help you build a better product.

They (ProVape) clearly invite everyone who purchases their products to not only write a review but also to send them feedback or any issues the buyer may have. That demonstrates that they stand 100% behind their product and want to hear the good and the bad--not just the good, as OP stated.

ProVape customer service is unbelievably good--and I've never heard the accusation that they only want praise and are not open to feedback or criticism or feature requests from their customers. If they didn't want feedback, why would they ask for it in their form email????

ETA: People complained about the amp limit on the old ProVari and ProVape listened and responded by raising the amp limit to 3.5 amps. People wanted colors, we got colors (including pink :)). People wanted a smaller ProVari and we got a mini.

There is very little doubt in my mind that a ProVari 3.0 is coming and will feature an intelligently designed OLED display and VW, in addition to VV. :D
