The problem I had with my Penny using the strands of string was the wire that wasn't connected to the post kept wanting to pop up through the threads which would cause a short if not completely covered. I couldn't get that wire to lay flat to save my life. I now use a braided cotton strand that fits in the grooves perfectly. I also got a sample of hemp rope that will fit perfectly in the grooves but I haven't tried it yet.

Got the Fatty Clone in the mail and set it up with my trusted 8-10 30awg wrap around a 14 gauge needle, snaked through 4 strands of Lydia, tucked 2 free strands under the coil (I set it a bit off the base to avoid touching the silicone washer). This thing kicks like a mule. Its on par with, if not better than the modded A7 and ERA. Airflow control is a little funny, in that the knurled washer seems like it would be loose, but its not, it stays where you put it. That said things work just fine without it even screwed on, maybe even better, but like that its a loose draw (think standard ZAP cap, etc). But since it doesn't take 6 seconds to get an adequate drag, you still get effortless clouds. With the airflow control you can get anywhere from IKV cannon down to IO6 tightness. A great middle ground is to ditch the washer and just plug on one or two holes to your liking, which is likely what I'll end up doing.
The diameter of the unit maybe a bit larger than the real Fatty, just based on the fact that I can't get it into my Reo VV and I've seen pictures of the Fatty fitting nicely (not worried about it as it doesn't bottom feed anyway). It's def bigger than the ERA and A7.
EDIT: The airflow holes are very close to the coil as I have it set up, so as usual keep the holes facing the sky to some extent...though there are other options as you can see from the multiple screw holes.

Step aside Lydia's. I have been using this hemp in my Vivi Novas 28g and 30g oval coils and imo it out preforms Lydia's and no off taste. Three strands thru the coil and one over the coil.

I would say natural. You don't want any coloring.
I'd still say boiling it wouldn't hurt either. I think most hemp is processed with wax.

I bought natural and boiled it twice, didn't see gunk in the water.I'm on it! What color tastes best
Could've sworn I was tasting burnt stuff, smoke, but I took a peek and my bamboo is fine. wicking well. thinking this 3 wrap coil isn't enough surface for the vapor production though.
I never use less than 6 wraps of any wire and my norm is 8 wraps.
Interesting idea--more surface area on the coil to generate heat, and most of it not touching the wick.
How does it vape?
And do you think it might be even MORE vapor production if you looped the wick a few times and stuffed it in that oval coil so that the wire was touching wick all the way around inside the coil?
Did you boil it? Any flavor from it? I just picked up a box of sterile cotton for my very first attempt!
Gonna have to give this a try. I'm getting decent coils, but I'd like to get a bit higher Ω. This most recent one is a 5 wrap @ 2.3-2.5
Silver is giving me a headache, not literally, but its just being a pain at times.

How many strands of Aunt Lydias #10 do people usually use on a VVN rebulid?
I've got 3 through the coil & 3 on top. Finally think I got to the point I'm searching for. With the 3 in the coil only it was slightly dry (though I could see the bamboo wicking well). I put one over the coil and immediate boost in flavor and vapor but still not enough. 2 more did it.

Provari reading is jumping around between 2 - 2.4, meter is reading 2.1 ... any ideas or is it just being goofy? Vaping well.
