Gonna have to give this a try. I'm getting decent coils, but I'd like to get a bit higher Ω. This most recent one is a 5 wrap @ 2.3-2.5

Silver is giving me a headache, not literally, but its just being a pain at times.

Just my :2c:...the BJ oval coil is all I use now on my ERA's, A7's and my first and last Reo "crapmiser"...I run 6-8 wraps of 28...in my albeit totally unscientific tests they seem to produce more vape (flavour is about the same) but the oval coil makes rewicking on these devices is a piece of cake

Interesting idea--more surface area on the coil to generate heat, and most of it not touching the wick.

How does it vape?

And do you think it might be even MORE vapor production if you looped the wick a few times and stuffed it in that oval coil so that the wire was touching wick all the way around inside the coil?
The pic shows one strand of Lydias wrapped around the legs to keep them wet and cool. The finished coil has 10 additional threads thru and 3 over.

These oval 28g are running about 2.4ohms they are 4mm oval, that was why I came up with the oval to get more 28g in a Vivi Nova.

I thought the same...your idea was just too brilliant to be overlooked...hell, I even made oval mesh in one of my mesh/Lydia's hybrids...that was hard, it worked, but too arduious to make it worth it...god I'm getting lazy :D

Oh, I haven't built one yet so I didn't know that was necessary.

Some use it, some don't. I built a handful without and they worked fine, but was concerned about the grommet burning. I've seen no physical evidence of it happening with or without, but I few of my coils were getting warm very close.

Splicing the silver small enough to not take up room in the head is difficult.

Spend enough time on any thread thick with Reonaughts and...what can I tell ya, I drank the Kool-aid

It actually doesn't work all that bad but one look at the general quality of build and posts/screws...I immediately went for a 1.2 ohm 28 oval (on a straight batt V mod), something that's gonna last...I get the feeling this POS will only take a handful of coil changes before something breaks, ah well, live and learn

Thanks for the chuckle you guys :) the thread was one of the first that I read (took me about a week!) and I still enjoy coming back and seeing what's up in the cotton/bamboo/hemp wicking world :) I'm vaping #1/0 square-braid cotton wick wrapped with A-1 32awg 2.0 ID coils at 2.4 ohms on an AGA-Tiamat and Hydra. 4.8V seems to be the "sweet spot" for me. I have both ends of the wicks in the tanks. Took some getting used to, since the first RBA I tried was the Hyper SRT II which died after a few weeks. Oddly, nothing I've tried vaped better than the SRT, but I prefer something that will last. I'm pleased with these AGAs, but wanted to know what the Pros prefer atop a decent PV? I do prefer the air intake from the bottom like the vivis. Seems the vape is warmer. Thoughts?

All depends on what category we fall in. For me, I am a CE-2 guy. I think having a ceramic cup in the mix is the best set up. I have had one of these going 4 months. I modded it to era and now that I have my Quig count mastered it takes less than 2 minutes to get my best setup. Hell, I don't even have to use my mm anymore.:>)

I tried to like the stardust(CE5 V1 I think), but after ordering four and two of them leaking, I sort of gave up on 'em. Since I don't give a @#$% what ppl think of my fat PV in public, I'm trying to find something that works well and reliably. That's insane that you have those going so long! :) I still use my nova mini and tank when my other RBAs (not the AGAs yet.. knock on wood) have broken... Hat's off on the quick build; I still need about 10 mins to make my coil (2mm mini-screwdriver), thread the square-braid cotton wick, and mount and adjust in the AGAs. Oh, I occasionally get a hot spot on the high side of the kanthal going to the center post. I've found that just hooking it with the end of the wire eliminates it completely. Oops.. I'm sidetrackin' again. Oh, and for the record: I seriously think you could run a Hydra over with a car and it'd still vape fine.. heh.. but it's heavy as hell....:)
