Hey Cyrus, for consistency with cheese cloth in the Ody/Penny...if you look at the cheese cloth (which I hear comes in different gauges like mesh, so you can't go with X mm by X mm) the weave is made up of threads that are about 1 mm apart going in one direction and threads 3-4 mm apart going in the other...I found that 50 thread count (on the 1 mm spaced threads) is about perfect...my original 65 threads seems to pack the wick slots too much and chokes it...
Anyway, cut your piece of cheese cloth so that the 50 threads are about 3" long (it's cheap and easier to work with), fold the edges into the center, then keep progressively folding it in half till you get to the point where you can just roll it between your palms...

This way, no matter how tight/loose you roll it, there's only 50 threads in there so with expansion the slots shouldn't choke it...just have to watch how tight you wrap your coil...using this method I've been able to get reproducible results with cheese cloth every time
