I'm just not getting why people are saying that "they get so stressed that they actually want to smoke again." I smoked for 47 years. I've been vaping for 5 months now (took to it immediately) and once a month, for the 1st 2 months, I lit a cigarette just to see if I really was an ex-smoker and believe me, I AM! That thing tasted disgusting, both times!! There is NO reason or NO body that could ever make me go back to that nasty habit. Go ahead, try one, you'll see!! :vapor:

With all due respect, why do you need to vape then?

Loads of people give up smoking cold turkey, without any help at all. ;)

Maybe the experience of nicotine addiction is different for different people. Maybe the variety of different designs and methods (including smoking the odd cigarette!) is part of the strength of e-cigarettes used as a 'stop smoking device', as compared to something like nicotine gum.

They are probably so used to using Cigs as a way to escape(in their mind) whatever stressor is currently pushing their buttons, that it comes out without any thought. Smoking is/was different for everyone. I know for me, when I get stressed out lighting up comes unconsciously. I am totally new to vaping, and I still smoke. I smoke half of what I was smoking a couple of weeks ago and it's going down pretty quickly, but it will be many months after I no longer see a cig as a crutch before my mind will catch up when life tests me.

And yeah, the ones I do smoke lately I only get thru half. The things are naaaasty!

People say it because everyone is different. My cravings for a real cigarette won't go away, no matter how much I vape. I keep looking for a juice that tastes exactly like my smokes did, in the hopes that it will make vaping as satisfying as smoking was for me. Not everyone quits as easy as you did.

Two things you might want to research if you haven't come across them yet: Snus and WTA e-liquid.

Both work for some people to eliminate those final few cigs.

Pretty tricky to get hold of here in the UK, not sure where Sterling is to be honest?

I've been vaping exclusive since Aug 22nd. Not that long, I know. But I love cigarettes. I will ALWAYS love cigarettes. I love the way tobacco smells and tastes. I'm quite the tobacco enthusiast. I miss lighting up. But I enjoy vaping as a safer alternative.

Everyone else is right. We are all different and have different reasons for doing the things we do.

I quit cold turkey for 6 years and I eventually found my way back to it. That relapse constituted the majority of my smoking years. I felt like an ... at first then I just gave in to it.

There's a lot more to smoking than just the smoke and nicotine. In fact, I've found that since I started vaping I don't really have as much of a need for nicotine as I did when I smoked. I took a 5 hour ride over the weekend and didn't even hit the vape for the first 3 hours. Then it was just an occasional hit. I'll grant you that yes, I did need some nicotine at one point, but it isn't nearly the draw that it used to be.

That is my reason to suggest that cigarettes are sophisticated addiction devices.

Cigarettes provide a faster, harder rush of nicotine to the brain. Under times of duress, the brain remembers where it got that "nic-NOW" effect.

If I was a brain and wanted nic now, why would I want to wait around for you to piddle with your vapey-thingy and trickle it to me? I want it NOW!

That, in a nutshell, is why we still crave.

Everyone has their own triggers. I've actually heard more people say that their morning coffee or some alcohol is a stronger trigger than stress...

+1

mine was alcohol and it took some learning to deal with stress and other triggers. i thank my lucky stars i don't have a true addiction to nicotine as i do to alcohol. to each his own, i try to not judge.

Different strokes..... I guess that I am "one of the lucky ones." It's like apples and oranges to me. Why not vape wonderful flavors instead of that nasty tasting thing. Either way, you're getting your nicotine fix. The smell even turns me off when I walk into a casino, here in Vegas.

I'm one too. I haven't smoked either since the day I started vaping. I see a lot of people that have trouble with equipment or juice and they want to go back to cigs and I feel for them. I guess I have a way with making things work and maybe you do too.

They also provide an engineered chemical make-up that promotes greater addiction.

I just went through a stressful event. Had to put my beloved cat down due to cancer this morning. Making that choice broke my heart, but watching her suffer was just as heart wrenching. I hit my PV constantly and I thought to myself, "man, if I still smoked I'd have gone through so many packs of cigarettes it wouldn't be funny." It made me wonder how I'll handle a death of a family member, sorry if I'm being morbid, it just got me thinking about smoking and stress. I'll leave it at that.

I also was one of the lucky ones..... started vaping almost 4 yr's ago and never had, want or felt the need for a cig. I vape b/c I really enjoy it. Will I ever stop, who knows? I smoked off and on for over 30 yrs. Everyone is different.

Good on the 4 years. If you read these forums and all the whining about this tank floods and this juice tastes like perfume and these cartos give me dry hits, how is it that someone could have vaped for 4 years in the dark ages of vaping and come out alive? You and all the vets around here are inspiration.

I say that it took 30 years to quit smoking, why should it take any less to quit vaping?? Actually it should take longer because it's better!

Good day
