Hi folks. I've been vaping now for about a month or so. Started with blu's from wally world (bleh) found a starter kit online (firebrand) and realized they're a little overpriced. Now I'm using protanks with kgo batteries. Simple setup, 18 & 24mg juices.

Anyway, I'm wondering why some folks can start vaping and if not immediately, very quickly quit the analogs. vaping has helped me to cut down drastically, 4-5 hours between cigarettes but that's about the best I seem to do. I think it's the quitters anxiety that bothers me the most. I've read some about the whole tobacco alkaloids but am not sure where to get em or if they'd help. Down to my last pack of death, really don't want to buy another one.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Mike.
Yeah some people seem to kick the habit so easy when they start out but I so far haven't had that kink of luck. I've cut back a lot but haven't completely kicked it yet. I've been told there are a lot and I mean alot of other addictive components in cigs not just nicotine and some of us just have a harder time get past those added addictions.
I've also looked at wta juices but I just can't justify the cost of having them shipped to Canada I may have to try augmenting with the Swedish snus. I've looked at the subforum on it and may be the way for me to go.
One supplier I know of for wta liquid is here:Aroma Ejuice Manufacturer of WTA Whole Tobacco Alkaloid Eliquid
Hope this helps and good luck to you.

I think anxiety a out quitting can definitely play a role. I tried so many other times to quit, with various aids and cold turkey. I had come to the conclusion that I would never quit. When I was nagged and nagged by a neighbor to give these a try I was very reluctant. I finally got one, but was convinced it wouldn't work for me. I thought that I might be able to cut down, or use them in emergencies at the best. For that reason, I had no anxiety about quitting. To my complete shock, I did quit a 1.5 PAD habit almost immediately (I think I had 2 half cigarettes after I got my first kit). That's just me though.

One thing I've learned from reading on ECF, is that everyone's smoking habit and experience is different. I had never fully appreciated this before, and how much of a complication it has to be for cookie cutter 'stop smoking' treatments. We all have different habits, different physiologies, different mental states.

You can try the WTAs. I don't know where to get them, but someone will be able to tell you where to find them. You could try snus. I do get about 1 can of Swedish snus a month or so to use when vaping is inconvenient.

You've only been doing this for about a month though, so you might just be one who takes time. Many people here cut down slowly. Be patient with yourself! You don't mention how much you smoked before, but I know that one every 4-5 hours would have been a dramatic improvement for me at 1.5 PAD.

I felt the same way OP.. When I bought my first real vaping mech I hadn't quit smoking. But I soon realized that I would never know if it works until I gave it a true trial. I was terrified to go without smokes. Last Saturday I decided to do it. Here I sit vaping and enjoying my morning coffee analog free. he mind will come up with so many reasons to not quit. Addiction is very complex. I guess I can say I have an advantage because I have experience with other addictions in my life that I have and am dealing with. In fact, now I am addicted to vaping. But I honestly never thought I would ever stop smoking real cigs. So this is a step in the right direction. It can be a very easy transition with the devices we have available today. But it can also be very hard. 80% of this, for me, is a mental thing. Bottom line for me is that if I have analogs, I will smoke them. That was the hardest part. Once I was without them and just vaping, I was ok.

Good Luck OP!!

A long time ago I quit smoking cold turkey. I just realised that it was filthy and quit... Then years later I started smoking again (stoooooopid, I know) and then I was unable to quit. I tried and I tried, but that "click" just didn't come.

Then I discovered vaping. At first I drastically cut down on the analogs thanks to vaping. When I was down to about two or three analogs a day, I suddenly had that "click" again. I realised that those damn analogs are really filthy and from then on, I stayed away from them.

So basically, keep on vaping. At a certain point you will probably suddenly realise that analogs are evil, stinky cancer sticks and you'll leave them be. :)

Thanks. I'll check out the Aroma ejuice. This is the first time in a long time I've seen even the possibility to quit. Guess I've been trying to rush it along, so I'll take the advice to be patient. Coming from a 30 year 1-2 PAD habit. I believe the addiction is just as much psychological as is physical if not more so for some ppl.

For the past year I rolled my own with a machine. I used a natural tobacco so I didn't have the extra additives. I think that was one reason it was easy for me to switch. Another thing that helped was I used my entire cigarette budget getting setup. Didn't have money to buy cigarettes and when I did I bought more vape stuff instead. Now every once in a while I'll take a drag of a friends cigarette and think yup nasty and go back to my tasty vape :D

Welcome to the forums. Everyone is different... I was one of the lucky ones and quit as soon as I started vaping. For me I wanted to give myself a week to see how much better I felt.... after that week there was absolutely no turning back. It's night and day.... don't buy that pack of analogs.... spend the money on some juice!!

What I did that worked for me was every time I felt like I needed a cigarette, I just started vaping away until the urge went away. The worse times were when I woke up, always had a smoke after getting out of bed... After meals... Right before driving (Never smoked in my car). During breaks... If I could control the urge at those crucial moments when my body was like a ticking time bomb craving the nicotine, I knew I could kick the habit. So I started with one moment at a time... I would skip the morning smoke... Then after a few days I started skipping the smoke before driving and vaped in the car... Then I was able to skip smoking after meals... A few days later I was down to only having one cigarette a day right before I went to bed... And eventually that turned into vaping before bed...

I also started with a stronger nicotine juice, 16mg/mL and was getting jittery if I vaped too much... I found that by toning it back to 8mg/mL I was able to chain vape without getting too heavy a dose of nicotine... It allowed me to mimic my old smoking habits without putting my body into toxic shock... LoL

If you can go 4-5 hours without smoking, why not try to push it out to 6 this week... Then try to push it to 7... Make realistic goals.

Believe in yourself... Stay hydrated... Set goals... You can do this! :)

When I started vaping I never intended on quitting analogs. It just sort of happened. After using a few amazing flavors I hated even a drag or two off of a cigarette. But my fiance is the opposite. He loves to vape, and loves to smoke. He has, however, cut back from 2 packs a day to one pack every 2 days. :) I think for some people it just takes time. :)

Welcome, it 's has been very difficult for me as well. I am a month in and still hit a cig a few times a day. With me from 2 packs a day for over 30 years a few a day is a win for me. Every time I hit the vaper not a cig is a win. I will just keep it up and be off the nastys for good. My advice to you is just keep the vaper close by and puff it when the urge is there and remember every time you don't lite a nasty is a win. Good luck!!!!

I don't think it's really easy for anyone. My husband and I started Vaping the day we got all stuff in the mail..he smoked for over 40 years 2+ PAD, me over 15 years..we never had a Cig. after our first Vape. It was not easy at all. I've told new Vapors this over and over...it's just like quitting cold turkey..you pretty much go through the same withdraws as you would if you just threw down the smokes. Or at least we did. Vaping just helps with the whole hand to mouth habit..and also gives you the satisfaction seeing "smoke" come out of your mouth...other than that, that's all that it helped us with.

With Vaping, you still have to want to give up the Cigs..and want it bad. I don't think there will ever be an easy way to quit the Cigs...but at least with Vaping, you still get your Nic fix. With us, it really helped us going through it together and supporting each other.

One thing my husband did that really helped him during the first couple weeks of Vaping, when he got to wanting a Cig really bad...is he would tell himself..I'm going to chain Vape for 3 or 4 minutes, and then IF I still want a smoke, I'm going to have one. And guess what..he never did have to have that real Cig. After you get over those few minutes of REALLY wanting a Cig..you should be good to go. I guess telling his self that he could have a Cig, really helped his brain..much better than making his brain think he was never going to get another one.

We both hit 7 months Cig free the end of Oct. :toast:

Don't worry so much about the Cigs you do smoke..just be happy about the ones you don't smoke!

It was real tough for me when I started vaping. My 50 years as a smoker lungs were not happy with vapor. I coughed and hacked and still had to have a few cigs every day. But I kept at it and my lungs started to allow the vapor more and more. I was a wreck for the first 10 days, but then it smoothed out. My lumgs are pretty clear now but that urge for a real smoke still lingers. Would I expect it not to after 50 years of smoking? I don't think anyone would. I had a smoke yesterday morning and it made me sick to my stomach and dizzy all morning. I'm hoping that will be my final one as I didn't enjoy the feeling at all. As others have said, be encouraged by the smokes you're NOT having, not discouraged by the smokes you are having.

Thanks folks for the encouragement and advice. Good stuff :) Maybe I had some unrealistic expectations, even though I know vaping isn't meant as a smoking cessation tool. I'll try to relax and follow the advice. Especially celebrating every one I don't smoke, hadn't looked at it like that before.

I believe and always will believe the transition from analogs to vaping should be stress free and enjoyable. Some have found the answer in using WTA. Realize this is not a race and eventually one day you'll realize you enjoy vaping much more than analogs.
I also own the Kgo- what's carto/ clearo and ohms are you using?
Wishing You the Best of Luck.

I agree that part of it might be the anxiety. I'm an accidental quitter who always said I loved smoking and would never stop. Pretty much put down the cigs as soon as I started vaping and was actually mad about how vaping "ruined" my smoking experience! I still have 5 packs of cigarettes left untouched, and I had/have no problem letting myself pick up a cig if I want. I just don't want to. Vaping is more pleasant all around -- from the smells to the flavors to the convenience factor. I also think I was more addicted to the act of smoking. I would wear a nicotine patch during the work day and even for days at a time away at work conferences and survive ok, so I probably didn't have as strong an addiction to the other chemicals in cigarettes and also had the confidence to know I could make it on solely nicotine. It was just that hand to mouth blow vapor exhale that I couldn't give up!
