I feel the same way but I am not too worried about the nicotine. I am more worried about the flavorings and additives that are present in nic juice. I smoked Natural American Spirits which are purportedly additive-free (and I would want to vomit in the rare case I bummed a Marlboro off a friend) so I didn't experience the harsh 'chemical' taste of cigarettes. Do we have any evidence that inhaling additives and flavorings by vaping all day (like I've been doing) be safer than 5-10 additive-free cigarettes a day?

Absolutely. Smoke is inherently bad. People are being warned these days about fireplaces, wood stoves, you name it. We weren't meant to breathe smoke of any kind.

Do a Google on "wood smoke harmful" and you'll be flooded. Such as here:

EHHI :: Plastics that May Be Harmful to Children and Reproductive Health

"The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has shown that PM2.5 and PM0.5 are the most common size particles in wood smoke. PM2.5 and smaller cause the greatest health impacts because they are small enough to go deep inside the lungs, where they can not only damage the lungs, but also pass through into the blood stream, delivering their toxins throughout the body."

Check this out:

"Wood smoke has many of the same components as cigarette smoke and, therefore, these exposures pose a real health risk for families living in the vicinity of OWFs."

Heh, fireplaces may be as dangerous as smoking. Including "second hand" smoke risks. Take that ANTZ!

(Sorry, I couldn't resist)

Smoke in lungs is bad. Any smoke. All smoke.

I like "chain vaping" myself, 'cause I like that ADF (all day favorite) so much. Just like with food, I'm listening to my body, it tells me when it's enough. I do catch myself laying down the PV, although I'm enjoying the flavor. However, I'm using 1.1 - 1.4% (11 - 14 mg) nicotine. I'm not sure if vaping that much late evening is keeping me awake. I've always been a "night owl" anyways. I might try vaping a lower nicotine level, just to see, if it does have an influence on my sleeping/staying awake late.

That's me. I like vaping. Then again, liked smoking. Right up to the end. Despite what it was doing to me. I cut back on the nic level so I could vape a lot. Because I want to. :)

But nic is a stimulant. Too much can even cause "stimulant psychosis". But so can caffeine. I had it once. Way, way back in college days. Finals week. It was bizarre. I knew how nutty this sounded and it irritated me to no end but some part of my brain was convinced if I went to sleep, I would die. It was all the coffee from staying up way too late, studying for finals. It was awful. I was aware of just how stupid it was but I couldn't make it stop until the caffeine wore off. If I did manage to doze off, I'd jolt awake, terrified. Weird. Weird. Weird.

I have a really high tolerance for caffeine. But no addiction to it. Back then, when young (oh so long ago now), I could drink a pot or more and fall asleep. No big thing. Have to watch it now <mumble> years later. Still tend to drink up to a pot in the morning but had to go to half caf or it would keep me awake at night. No, seriously, the coffee you drink in the morning can keep you awake at night. Something I did not expect.

I would expect something similar out of nicotine. They both do act on the nervous system. So I lowered my nic overall. Have some 24mg for first thing in the morning (that "first cig" moment) then back off soon as I feel fully awake. Coast around 12 to 18 (with some 6 here and there) during the day then drop to just the 6 in the evenings. My sleep habits started going back to something resembling normal. Well, "normal" for me. Whatever that word means in my case. :)

Smoke contains tar and carbon monoxide and numerous carcinogens, not because of additives or flavorings, but as an unavoidable result of setting plant material on fire.

E-cig juice contains known food flavorings that are known to at least be safe for ingestion. There's nothing added that isn't to contribute to the flavor (except for the base and nicotine itself). The base is also known to be safe for ingestion, is used to make fog machines, lotion, shampoo, food filler, etc. Juice is physically altered (vaporized), but not chemically altered (combusted) when used, so what ends up in you body is nothing more than what you put in the e-cig. Many juices contain a list of chemicals that could be counted on one hand.

I don't see how inhaling smoke of ANY kind could possibly be safer than vaporizing e-cig juice.
.

I know what cigarette smoke contains. I merely brought up additive-free cigarettes because many people promote vaping by stating that you will no longer inhale "5000 chemicals" but I digress.

Smoking 5 cigarettes in a row is much safer than chugging 3 gallons of water in the same time frame but that does not make cigarettes inherently safer than water. Quantity is important.

There is no doubt that vaporizing the 'same amount' (obviously hard to measure) is almost positively safer than smoking. I realize that PG/VG are used in all of those applications you mentioned but the exposure from those entities is not even a fraction of the exposure we receive as vapers. The same principle applies to the food flavorings. And even though these things are FDA approved, so is high fructose corn syrup which has long-term negative effects on the body. I would just like any proof that vaping 'all day' isn't horrible for you. Until then, I will continue to worry.
