Would you spend $300-$350 for a.....

Direct-injected PV?

I found a "micro pump" that has an adjustable flow 4 picolitres per squirt, up to 1ml a minute.

I was thinking of building a mod box, rigging a tank on the input side, and having the output spray directly onto an unwicked atomizer. The atomizer would be "hard wired" into the unit, but I think I'd make the coil itself replaceable and solderless. The pump runs $200 each, and runs on 12v, using 1.9 watts.

Using a rechargable 12v 1000mah battery, a custom made circuit board, and whatever atomizer connection you'd like, I believe I could build one of these for under $300 in a unit about the size of a pack of Analogs.

Fill a 10ml container, and vape all day without any mess, or need to refill.

Your thoughts are appreciated, and if you'd like I can post a link to the datasheet and where to acquire the micro pump, if you'd like to try yourself (I can't afford the investment at the moment)

I dunno. I'm sure the idea would have some appeal to people who are deeply into "vaping technology" along with simply vaping.

There's a lot of differences in vaping preferences. I'd probably take a pass on something like this simply because my mindset is "give me something that works with the least hassle". But many vaping enthusiasts have a taste for more complicated and experimental type devices.

I'd make a prototype and show it at some vape meets and see how people react.

That was the idea behind this theory... What could be easier than filling a tank, and only having to change out an atty coil every few weeks. Fill, vape, repeat.

I was looking for ways to make the act of vaping easier, and I think this would be the easiest PV ever.

Maybe I'll hit the lotto and have the cash to put one together :)

True- but it's also mechanically complicated. And might be an item that needs to be repaired.

For instance, I own a GGTS w AVS. When it;s working it's fantastic. It's the maintenance which is killer.

Depends on your design. And people love the GGTS...

You might check out this thread about the upcoming Eclipse... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...119707-intro-3dfs-alpha-digitalciggz-com.html

It has a pump as well (among other awesome features) and even though it's been said it will top the $250 mark, it looks like there is plenty of interest in it. Initially, it sounds like a lot of money, but relative to what the wife and I have spent on beginner PV's, mods, DIY, etc, it's really not that much at all.

If you shop around you will find better prices on pumps. 1ML a min might not be enough for thicker VG based juices. VG is going to slow the pump down quite a bit. Plus 12 volts is not going to be easy to come by Going to take at least 3 li ion in series to get that voltage. Tough enough to get two into a mod and keep it small much less three batteries plus a pump plus a 10ml tank. Going to be pretty big mod unless you use really small batteries then your going to have a mod with very short vape times between charges.

I would, if it was executed well. No offense intended to Digitalcigz, but I wouldn't pay that much for the one in the video, or one that looked like it, but smaller. If I'm paying that kind of money, I want to see a well designed, well executed, professional system. I didn't even blush at paying - twice - for a ProVari for that reason, and I love both of mine, but something that was auto feed would get me to pay more. It would have to do everything my ProVari (or the Darwin) does, but with autofeed. And no thumbwheel - that's the deal-killer for me and the Darwin. Java_AZ is right, you can get nano/micro pumps for less than $200, and that use less than 12 volts.

Eclipse will have an auto feed. You program in the drops you want it to deliver and theres no thumbwheel, it will do everything the Darwin does but also have autofeed

Not sure the OP was looking to commercially develop his idea or just want to make his own version. If the latter, I say go for it. Nothing beats what you make yourself even if you have to use duct tape to hold it together. lol

If the former, there are a couple of products coming this year that will blow the socks off anything already announced. It would be really difficult to compete in such a competitive and fast moving arena.
