It's sad and funny at the same time. What I mean is, my doctor is against e-cigs because "it's still nicotine" junk-logic yet my dentist is overwhelmingly supportive of my decision. I have had 2 cleanings as a non-smoker so far and I guess he notices it the most because he hardly has to do much, unlike back when I was puffing away at a rate of 3 packs a day.

It's nice to vape in a rental car, hotel, or any private non-smoking area I tell ya

One would think your doctor would be pleased because your lungs no longer sound full of phlegm.

I need a new doctor but it's easier said than done. It's like shopping for a good lawyer or good mechanic. It takes trial 'n error and costs time (and money) so for now I just shrug off his "all roads lead to suicidal pills" mentality. I'm pretty confident that if I get outside opinions from other doctors in the area, that they will agree with vaping being the best option for ME.

I think he is happy that my health has improved by shutting out the cigarettes but he isn't interested in hearing anything that prefaces with "I read on the internet that.." it's like it closes off his mind. Even when i brought up my concerns about Chantex causing suicidal thoughts.

"You can't believe what you read on the internet" is his defacto answer

Wrinkles or not, we're all a lot better looking without a darn cigarette sticking out of our faces.

Nah. Smoking looks cool. Yeah. we've grown to hated it and know it will kill us but it does look better than vaping, at least when you are young and it hasn't turned your skin to leather and your voice to gravel. There is no other way to explain why we all did it. Norm Macdonald "I started smoking when I was 14 and I thought I'll look really cool coz I didn't get along with anybody. So I started smoking and wouldn't you know it, I did look cool"

Well to be honest Sean Cannery, Cary Grant, and Audrey Hepburn would all be gorgeous regardless of what they put in their mouths. The rest of us generally need more advantages.

I need the cheat codes for life, to hell with advantage  But I agree, when you start out, especially young and it hasn't taken its toll on you yet, then you take things for granted. But i knew i was hooked on Nic at age 14 when I caught a common cold and felt exponentially worse every day I went without a cig.

Back then I made promises to myself like, I will never smoke in the morning. I will never smoke if i'm sick. I should have listened to my body and cut the chains of addiction then, instead of tightening the knot. Hindsight is 20-20 Now it's about damage control.

HauntedMyst, just yesterday I broke out The Twilight Zone DVD's and I know what you mean about style. I think vaping can be the same, if the hollywood elite were more vested in it. Something tells me they're in bed with Big Pharma just like Metallica supporting the MPAA/RIAA when groups like Pearl Jam were saying, step up your concert game and live performances instead of figting evolution and hiding in your recording studio collecting royalties for over-priced music.

Butters, you forgot Chess King hehe

Your skin actually has more elasticity until you turn 35 or so. Then after your skin doesn't get as much oxygen. If you were a smoker for a long time especially after 35 that probably had a much better chance of being the cause of your wrinkles than the vaping did. You look great for over 40 though. They have lasers that can tighten up your skin now days and technology will be moving very quickly in the near future. I don't think in your present condition you have anything to worry about. You may want to try some flat tips though and see if those help you. Some of those are pretty nice. I know the guy at vapeanonymous has a certain atomizer that is a flat tip model that gives off huge clouds of vapor that he let me test. I don't recall the name of it but you could check with him. The lasers are pretty expensive if you buy your own. I think $1000-$2000. I don't know of any place that does laser treatments but I'm sure you could google it and find one.

You all are some old farts no offense lol.

Back when I smoked I did it because my friends did, yeah I was a follower in that sense. Back in high school in my baggy jeans and my Nautica and Tommy Hilfiger shirts and my 22 year old girlfriend ha, I was legendary to some.

You are still legendary, Butters. :D

Embrace your age. You ARE smarter and wiser now. Smart enough to know that beauty does not dictate love or respect. Some of the most beautiful people are so ugly after getting to know them.

I'm going to be 53 this month. Do I wish I was younger? No. I like how I am now. Each year that passes, I find that I'm doing things I would never have done as my younger self. All I've gone through, to this point, has made me who I am now.

Lip wrinkles.....I know I have them. If you smile they go away. :D Just smile.....a lot!

Chapstick keeps lipstick from bleeding into those little lines. Also lip liner, use the lip liner on the whole lip. Ugh, nothing worse than seeing a darker line around lipstick, try to match the color as close as possible. Honestly? The only time lip lines are really noticeable is when lipstick bleeds into them.

Gray hair is easy to fix. Lord I have no idea what my natural color is anymore. I've been playing with color since I was in my late 30's. I'm sure there's gray there.

I think women go through midlife crisis too.

And Kate Beckinsale! You forgot to mention Kate Beckinsale! During the 2012 Olympics, England could have started the opening ceremony with "No matter how many medals you win, we still still have Kate Beckinsale - WE WIN!" The world would have agreed and gone home.

Btw, assuming this is you, Susaz, I don't see someone of "below average looks." I was actually quite struck when I saw this picture... it looks like a painting I might see hanging in the Louvre from the 17th or 18th century. You have a very regal, timeless, somewhat exotic and striking appearance that could certainly be described as quite beautiful. Again, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.... and sometimes we are the worst judges of ourselves. (Though you certainly sound well grounded with a lot of self-respect so I'm sure nothing I'm saying is new to you.)

On a side note I'm sure we've all experienced meeting someone who strikes us right off the bat as highly attractive, but after he or she opens her mouth and a selfish or unattractive personality is revealed, we see his or her physical appearance quite different, as much less attractive.

Same goes for the opposite... we meet someone (or even see someone on TV in a documentary or special) who is not particularly appealing physically, but once we get to know them, a winning personality rearranges all those features in our mind's eye into something we love to look at and find quite attractive. Which just goes to show the beauty inside counts more than the beauty outside, in the end. Unless you are a model. :D

And finally I know for me, when I look at someone I love my eye goes to their 'flaws' in a loving way. Flaws make us all human, and no one is perfect, so when we see flaws in others (scar, wrinkle, lack of symmetry or whatever), it endears us because we know we aren't perfect either, so we relate to that little bit of 'individuality.' Thank god we don't all look like Barbie & Ken. In fact, very few do.

Thanks! I love that picture, it's the non posing, raw me, and one of the best. I must say it was taken last summer during my dad's illness, and I can see the pain in my eyes. It's not a happy picture, yet it shows the real me...
I don't like what I see in the mirror, but I've come to terms. I walk tall and proud because I know who I am, and not mind the little details. Just take the whole package or leave me.

As it should be for all of us! We are all critical when we look in the mirror. Even the most attractive person looks in the mirror and sees flaws. It's human nature.

I also went through a lot with my Dad who had a protracted terminal illness. Talk about something aging you... that's tough. But it's a hurdle we all have to jump. Those of us lucky enough to have parents. :)
