My X2 has gotten quite difficult to drag from. I had a bad seal from a clearo and I'm pretty sure it leaked into the battery. It's an auto. Happened last week, and I didn't really notice until I needed to charge it, and went to use my 78 with a clearo. The hit is SO much better.

I can't see any liquid on the post or beside it, but I tried canned air. As far as I can tell, it didn't help much, if at all. Is there anything else I can try?

You need to clean it, just like the smaller batteries. Wipe off the threads, use a toothpick with a small piece of paper tOwel or tissue and clean inside and unplug the two airhole. The airholes get clogged with gunk. Use a pin or sharpened tip of s toothpick an clean out the holes and the draw should be perfect again

Thanks. I checked her youtube channel yesterday and didn't see this vid.

The X2 auto's are "sealed" except for the 2 tiny side holes, that I can see. I had already used a toothpick/towel method to clean around the post. The side holes are definitely clean. I made sure of that with the canned air.

Actually, I'm about to use canned air on the charging ends' holes. Just dawned on me to check those. Edit to add: This changed nothing.

Edit to add: My 78/clearo sounds airy, but is definitely a better, easier "hit."

I have all manuals, but I think there are two more air holes at the bottom of the post that you have to feel for through the outer air holes on the threads...that's when a skinny toothpick (like the plastic ones), a needle or T-pin comes in handy. Or you can try swishing the post end in about 1/4" of alcohol for a little while (I use the bottle cap). Just make sure you keep the batt pointed down until it's dry.

Plastic toothpicks? That's what I need. I keep a box of wood ones by my bed but the break as soon as I try and clean. Thanks cindy

Thanks everyone, for the advice:)

I stuck a sewing needle through the threaded air holes. There aren't any holes in the inside post.

I had already checked the charging end air holes with canned air. Actually, I watched someone else do that. "Hey, this stuff down here turns blue when you blow on it!" LOL at that.

I'm stumped. Feels like drinking a mostly melted root beer float through a straw. Whereas the 78 on the same clearo is what I know as "normal." Just another reason to kick myself for not buying 2 of them.. but, but, but - I'm holding out for a color SI doesn't have yet!

They're there. Maybe just not lined up perfectly with the outer holes. Sounds like you might've cleared them some though. Maybe try the swishing-in-alcohol thing if you can't get to them? Good luck! :)

The only thing is the holes in the inner post are supposed to be for activating the battery. I don't think they have anything to do with the draw. The outer holes are what make the draw airy.

Have you tried a different carto? Maybe the carto isn't lining up right on the x2. Try unscrewing it just a hair and see if it gets better

Mroutlaw - I've tried 2 different clearo's.

Tried unscrewing a bit and presto! But I don't want to have to do that every time.

I might give the alcohol bath a try anyway. Couldn't hurt.

Sounds like the holes aren't lined up right with the threading then.

Try dental picks, if you can find them locally, usually at flea market tool vendors. They're cheap, needle sharp and easy to hold. Or even a large sewing needle would work. Of course, you do need to be careful not to overdo it and it should be safe for either a manual or automatic battery since the center post is "dead" unless turned on by inhaling or pushing the button. Either that, or have fun whittling down some wooden ones, LOL. I haven't examined my X2 that carefully yet, too busy enjoying it, but I'm going to have a look in a minute while it's charging.

I just gave the X2 a look under a magnifier and the two holes at the clearo/carto end are in the body of the battery and shouldn't be a problem with a metal pick or needle. A toothpick next to them looks like a timber trying to get into a mole hole! There are two more holes under the charger cap, even smaller, that also could be clogged, I suspect that pocket lint will be a problem for me with them. They appear rectangular to me but probably need to be clean as well. I have a pair of tweezers with needle tips from doing car refinishing that will clean these babies really well. As an experiment, if you have a carto handy, try that on the X2 to see how it works comapred to the clearo.

My charger end holes are rectangular, but they are a lot bigger than the two up top. I'm thinking Mroutlaw is correct that the holes aren't lining up with the clearo notches. I tried a tiny rubber gasket to stop the clearo from screwing down so far, but it wasn't thin enough, and blocked the holes.
It's currently hitting well enough, but it takes a long drag to get that hit. Maybe I can count it as exercise..
