Despite the fugly brass buttons, I'm really enjoying the XVO right now. Vapes wonderfully with a plain old nautilus tank.

However, soon I will be changing to some form of rebuildable tank for it, and leaking may be a concern. Do you guys think something like this might help shield the 510 from small leaks?

Purchased more for attys that get hot, but wondering if a side benefit might be preventing leaks from getting under the 510. I've read that this can be an issue with the XVO, so I want to shield against the occasional leak as much as possible.

Can't hurt, but it will raise the tank up higher. If that is not an issue, or if you use a shorter RTA I think it would be just fine.

I use one of these when I want to use a small tank (goblin mini or so) in the Xvostick, works marvelous. But I do not find it much of a protection against liquid going to the 510, it just seeps right past it to the bottom.
It does prevent the little condensation from gathering on the 510, but big juice spills, no.
But I have spilled alot of juice on my Xvostick (even dumped 2 entire tanks right in the well because me being stupid sometimes :), and true to what they said (liquid proof) it just kept on ticking.

I think the shut off design is perfect for the Xvo too. Chels might claim the 510 is liquid proof but I don't want to risk having to send mine back to Isreal so I make sure to remove the 510 plate and clean up any spills when they happen (PITA)

After having removed the plate a couple of times, I can tell you (all) with complete assurance that it's not that bad to do. For me, it's become routine, but very occasional, maintenance.

The ONLY issue I had was in re-placing the grub screw. I can say tho, that I was completely nervous about the whole thing, and I'm pretty sure that added to the problem.

When you first attempt it, I'd highly suggest working over some sort of container (a box lid, for example), as that screw is TEEEEEEEEEENY.

But it's really not a big deal to remove the plate to clean underneath it. (Says she who did fail at first.)

@StealthyTX - one more thought. If you keep your battery cap clean & relatively shiny, you may find it to be quite adequate. The placement of the buttons makes them almost unnoticeable anyway, but the cap remains visible.

It works for me, but I might not be quite as picky as you (not sure).

Wanted to post a helpful hint. Had my grub screw fall between the 510 plate and the mod while trying to clean. Long story about how I got it out, but suffice to say that the grub screw was no longer usable. In search of a replacement, I tried the grub screw used to adjust the airflow of my kayfun v4. Fits perfectly and, as a bonus, no alen key required.

Does anyone know if I can replace the 510 inside the xvostick myself?

I think I accidently melted something inside the 510, my 510 pin is not spring loaded anymore.

Does anyone know if I could buy something like a fatdaddy vapes 510 housing and swap it in?
It never was spring loaded, unless it's a clone.

It is a clone, but I only asked here since the clone thread has zero traffic.

But if the original is not spring loaded then im probably out of luck trying to figure out how to replace the 510.

I ordered a varitube 510 for cheap so maybe I can get it working again.

Actually, there were quite a number of very adept users over in that clone thread. I'd post the question there because I'd almost guarantee that one of them can help you. Some of them were in this thread too, so you never know. But I definitely saw more "modding" activity over there.

It can be done. Unfortunately, I'm the proverbial teets-on-a-bull when it comes to modding related questions. Useless, me.

I recently took care and custody of a used XvoStick. It had some small issues that needed to be dealt with and I thought I would share one area of concern. Besides the adjustable 510 plate being welded to the frame by some uh.."Goo" of man-made origin (I do not fault Chel&Company on this, was a previous owner to be sure), the micro USB port did not function. I tore the entire device down to it's component parts. I am choosing not to embarrass Chel and friends with photos on what I found inside. After a complete cleaning, rewiring, connection replacements, and a check of DNA40 pcb, I found there was no fixing the micro USB absent a chip change (which I still may do). Now this, in and of itself, would be no concern to me. Hey, its used and I was told about the issue prior to purchase. BUT, I also had a ProXvoStick in the mail coming straight from Israel. It arrived today. First thing I notice? Yup, the micro USB was not functional. It also had some cosmetic issues that were small enough to be a non-concern. In addition, the DNA40 digital display cover had also been left free floating inside the base plate and moved side to side allowing all manner of moisture and the above noted "Goo" access to the interior of the device. Easy fix on the cover, it's all good. The micro USB has me concerned though. Two devices, both with absolutely no USB charging capabilities are more than a coinkydink. After having torn one down, I see and appreciate how much they have stuffed into a small space; however, one should not sacrifice functionality for form factor IMHO. While I do not consider myself an expert in all things electronics, I do come from a military background where my MOS was an electronics tech. Having read this thread in it's entirety, I do see a pattern of quality control issues forming. Please, do not take this post wrong, I absolutely love the product. I am bringing these issues to light simply because I want to see them addressed in the future by Chel so he can continue to manufacture these great devices without people like me chiming in. And for those of you bagging on the brass, sheeeeit, I like the Brass better than the SS for looks any day! In fact, I ordered a GZK Kabuki to pair off with the XvoStick :)

Preferences will be what they are, Jim. I'm glad you're enjoying them.

And the GMZ looks quite nice on them (both SS & brass), if you don't mind the shiny-to-matte contrast.

Matte? You talking about he Kabuki or XvoStick? Cause the Xvo buttons and battery cap will have an absolute mirror finish. Sad thing, out of the military for almost 30 years and if I see a piece of unpolished brass I wanna make that sucker shine. :D
