This may be a silly question but my understanding of electrical mechanics is admittedly limited.

I was planning on doing contact ni200 single coil builds, >0.15ohms, which I would normally glow at a very low setting in wattage (non-tc) mode to work out any hot spots. I just realized that A) I'm not going to be able to work on my coil easily in the xvostick and B) I currently don't have another tc mod. So my question is,...

Can I use the SX Mini (S-class) to glow and work on the ni200 coils as they will be above the 0.15ohm lower firing limit and I will only be using at around 5-10W in short bursts? I don't really want to get another mod just to build attys for the 'stick! I was hoping not to be tempted again until at least VF did something with the dna200 :p

I ordered one of the clones from 3FVape. I love this mod but could not afford the $225 for the original.
I'm thinking about it too, simply for the purposes of comparison. I'm having trouble reconciling supporting such blatant thievery though, so I remain undecided.

I don't support counterfit items, and would never buy one.
Sure $225 is alot of money ($260 including shipping) but you have to take in account the cost of designing, testing etc. So I do think the price is justifiable.
Sure I think they make a hefty profit on any unit sold compared to manufactering costs, but they also take the risk and need to recuperate the initial investment.
I think it's a shame another company than takes all this work and just rips it off, making it possible for them to deliver at far lower prices.

But while I condemn such cloning companies I can somewhat understand a consumer buying it when on a small budget, although personaly it is not for me.

Also from a safety point: Keep in mind that we carry devices which can deliver quite some power...do you want to put your safety in the hands of someone who wants to produce as cheap as possible or rather a company who makes it the best they can.

Having said that I am however interested in your opinions when you get it, just to compare notes with the original. Does it for example have an original DNA40 board?

For your reasons, drugarth, and possibly some others, I do agree. The mod maker put his heart and soul and most likely MANY hours of planning, research, and design into this. He undoubtedly would feel safe vaping it, and passing it on to others as his personal creation would make him proud.

I know that for me, I would not be getting that with a cloned device.

Interestingly enough (or not), I just posted this in a different thread, responding to someone's posting of that 3F clone.

And Ian, when you say, "...could not justify", is that the same as saying you simply could not afford it? Not to be an ... or anything, but there is a fairly significant difference between the two. One might make it (supporting rip-off artists) somewhat understandable, but the other would not.

Idunno, DH. Fifty bucks is still fifty bucks. And for something that might last a year, if I'm lucky (at least based on my experiences)?

I've always felt that it was better to save up and get the one that might last, than to jump in for something that there's a good chance will not. We waited months and months before ordering our Xvo's, then another 9 1/2 weeks from order to delivery! Additionally, I waited almost a full year before ordering my first Billet Box (finally done in November, 2013).

And those two devices, in particular, both have so many things that can potentially go wrong, that I'd probably have opted for something else (cheaper) than to attempt replication via a rush-job imitation. And I'd feel a whole lot better if those rushed-jobs weren't so blatantly ripping off the originals. I mean, at least change the logos and stuff. Make it LOOK like it's not being ripped off (even if it is..).

Again, fifty bucks isn't chopped liver.

But that's just MY opinion, of course.

I am pretty sure the chip will be a clone of the dna. For me thats a plus. I have read too many horror stories on the dna and a couple of fanboys of the dna have turned me off from the dna chip
Touché man. I haven't had a Chinese chip fail me yet. I see no problems buying the clone. Looks like a winner. :)

Yes, I must say I am a bit worried about the dna40 chipset, you would think that after all the releases they would get all the bugs, but they still seem to be in there.
It's the only thing that made me hesitate on the purchase. But the form factor is exactly what I was looking for...so decided to roll the dice on the chipset..wish it had been a sx350j...but guess that wouldn't have fit the form factor.

I am retired and on a fixed income so I definitely cannot afford to buy a mod for that amt of money. I agree with all your statements above about the purchase of clones. I have been watching this thread (in envy) for a while now and just could not resist.

I have no concerns about the chipset since I've exactly zero plans to engage TC. For me, it's ALL about the form, and I want it as something to accent my Billet Boxes with. Sometimes, during a workday, I like to switch to a Nauti coil (vs the BVC in the Billet Bridge). My current options all take up much more real-estate, and the Xvo is pretty much a BB with a tank.

For me, it was love at first sight. And I'll be very surprised if that changes, but I'll admit being wrong if I find out that I am.

Word of advice, hold no breaths.
