Pneumonia's no guarentee for treatment. It depends on which type and the type that's the result of allergies is not "deadly". It will kill lung tissue, which happened before I was 15 due to lack of treatment. It pretty much requires going to the ER once a week and carrying adrenline before docs take food allergies related to asthma seriously. About 15 years ago I was told it wasn't possible and the doc was "top allergy doc" for the area. No testing. My GP at the time just laughed because it was obvious I had allergies going on. This was before the insurance refused to treat my cancer. Since then, my GP left the state (said he was "spooked") and I haven't had the same doctor more than once. This is a new one tomorrow. No medical records are requested or taken. I have to be re-diagnosed for anything that requires on going treatment constantly. Or go out of network and self pay.
If I request anything, I'm labeled a hypocrondriac - even though I'm a "low user of services" (makes sense, eh?) If I appeal and esp if they loose, then I get nothing, not even an asprin or asthma meds and all medical records are "lost" (prevents civil suits I guess), which is basically what happened and where I'm at now. I have no choice of insurance and no way to take the insurance to court. I can take the doctor to court, which I don't want to do and the insurance can make the doctor financially liable for fees if I go out of network, which I also don't want to happen - and that is why they are reluctant to give me the full range of treatment options. It's a rigged system, sorta like banking. I've spent probably close to ten years fighting this insurance over one thing or another like a pitbull. There are no attorneys that will help, been there too. I'm tired of the fight.
I've been watching the changes with the new health insurance and it will benefit a lot of people, but it's not addressing this stuff. This is left in the hands of the state regulators, which in this state means zip. No protections. They are even whining about "tort reforms" which is why people like me can't take insurance to court.
I need to give my body a rest and I haven't been sticking to my fruit and veggie plan 100%. I'm a non-asorber anyway. It takes like mega doses of anything to show up in my blood stream. It's a medical mystery. I do have a good vitamin but it's 9 stinky horse pills daily. It's got Omega 3, full load of amino acids, max's on about everything including adding another pill to take. It makes my nails grow very well.
Well, that's my saga. I'm frustrated and angry about a lot of this ...... One thing for sure, medicine is not about wellness anymore - not with insurance in the middle. It sucks when I can't afford to go out of network. I'm still paying for my last venture. Every penny I have goes to doctors, and much of it is for basic 101 care. Nothing extreme but I'd die without it.
Get this, the insurance decieded not to cover a years worth of medical bills last Feburary. Sent them all back - after it was too late for doctors to resubmit them (clean claim status) and too late for me to appeal. Wonderful. Legal? Probably not. Attorney wouldn't touch it. The one I deal with was the only one that's taken these kind of cases on. Still no go. It takes class actions now and those take 7 to 9 years or more. Sure, we need more "tort reform". There trying to eliminate class actions now too.
Well add 2 more cigs.
