Hi Joemar I've read all of the replies before posting because I was sure the others would tell you this long before I had a chance, but no one did so here goes.
There are more addictive ingredients in cigarettes than just nicotine, that do not exist in vape. I know there are MAOIs or MOAIs or something like that that combined with nicotine make the cigarettes far more addictive, the tobacco companies added them to keep people buying their product.

I had a pretty rough time, or so I thought, quitting completely, but without vaping it would have been impossible. What I did was up the nic to 24 and I easily got to 4 cigs a day, then without too much trouble 2 a day, I stayed there for about a week, maybe a little longer, and the cigs just started tasting so nasty I stopped. It has been challenging to say the least because I live with a smoker who is continuing to smoke and there has been a pack sitting on the kitchen counter the entire time, but I've done it.

This simply would not have happened without the people here, I give them the most credit for my being able to quit. The first couple of months were very difficult for me much of the time, but the last almost month has been much much easier, my cravings now are for vape not smoke and I am lowering my nicotine level little by little. I am now vaping primarily dependant on which flavor I want rather than what nic level I need, with the exception of stressy times when I go for the 24 mg, the rest of the time it's 18 or 12 for me.

I just posted this in another thread before seeing this thread: "Been vaping for a short time and really enjoy it. Being a 2 pack a day smoker, I've really cut down a lot (approx 7 cigs a day now). But here is my problem. Why, if I am getting the nicotine (18mg) from this, do I still crave to have a couple of cigarettes a day. I'm sitting at my computer here with my Evod, but yet, I have such an urge to go out (it's cold) to have a smoke. Is anyone else having this problem? please tell me I'm not alone! lol."

Well, it's good to see I'm not the only one having this problem. Someone responded that maybe I should kick up the nicotine to 24mg. If I have to be honest .....and I will be......its more than that. For some weird ... reason, I still like to smoke an actual cigarette!!.....and I can't tell you why because I don't know! I've read all these posts from people saying they started vaping and no longer smoked. I thought great, I'll do the same thing. I mean vaping is much, MUCH more enjoyable than smoking! Ha, this will be easy.....Yet, it's not! I still smoke and like I wrote, still seem to enjoy having a few a day. I thought something was wrong with me and was embarrassed. But now I see no reason to be. Looking on the positive side, I have gone from 2 PAD + to 5-7 cigarettes a day!:thumb:

Uncle - that p38 is wicked strong - I'd think you'd remember it well. Didn't you win another bottle which was in same package? The p38 label couldn't be easily read as another bottle had leaked and the ink bled and faded.

Now Dolores has me worried about the mentholyptus.....and I can't find anything about oils on the site.....when I get home I'll put a drop if the concentrate on a piece if paper and see if it completely evaporates - that would do it, right? I know the decadent vapours is EU compliant.....

Kittyn they have been trying to ban menthol versions for a while now and are very close to succeeding.

Flavored cigarettes were part of the clove ban, so I'm going to assume that's why tracking down a full ingredient list is difficult. To much of it is flavoring and not tobacco so gotta hide that ya know.

A lot of companies do still make their original and flavored versions for sale outside the US though, so if you look up their international websites you might be able to find their full flavorings in cigarettes list if you're so inclined.

Gotta love that menthol and it's variants aren't considered 'flavors' though. Guess money really does talk ;)

Hi hi! And welcome! I'm a resident still smoke person!

Because..well... to be honest I really don't want to quit completely. Not ny goal, if it happens whatever, but definitely not gonna beat myself up over it.

If it's your goal though... WTA is supposed to work wonders. I know part of why I enjoy smoking is it gives me an excuse to go off outside for a little bit it at least disconnect from whomever I'm around (i stimulation overload easy) so if that's your normal habit, maybe try vaping outside when you get a smoking urge. By all means take a cig out with you too in case you do really want it, but if going out is an important part of the ritual for your head, it's one more thing to try.

 Yep - there was a bottle like that - I'll have to double check and get back to "You" and this conversation once I get back to FL since I do not have those bottles in front of "Me" . . .

Now - I am also concerned about what "Deloris" said - Let me know what you find out - OK . . . Thanks :D

Really sorry for the worry, Jazz, but I know that I use Lorann concentrates for my DIY, because it's what I have available. I've read the thread on Lorann flavourings, and there is a colour-coded list on what is safe and unsafe to vape. This is what I go by when I shop for my own flavourings. Here's a link to that thread:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...rs-color-coded-complete-ingredients-list.html

But I read the Lorann description of the menthol eucalyptus concentrate, and according to that source, it's water soluble, and therefore safe to vape (perhaps?)

It's got me curious, too. If it is indeed safe, then I will order it from where I get my Lorann supplies and try it out.

(It's strange that I ask this question just the same, because I use Halls mentholyptus cough drops exclusively when I have a cold, and, although I know as a rule one sucks on cough drops, one also breathes in the vapours. So if we can breathe them in that way, why would the flavouring used to make them be unsafe to use in our juices??)

The danger in LorAnn is the oil. If the flavoring is NOT water soluble please don't vape it. Oil will stick to the tissue linings of the esophagus and lungs and coat with the oil. Cinnamon from the bark of the cinnamon tree used in baking is okay to vape. Cinnamon from the tree leaves like used in those jaw breakers is not okay to vape.

So nevermind I see someone else has covered the topic.

Thanks bunches for the input, Lulu. I've been super-careful in choosing what flavourings I use for DIY, and check everything before I buy it. I believe it's just a bit of conflicting information on the flavourings in question (the information on the thread in this forum as opposed to the information provided on the website). It would be nice to get it sorted out as to what info is correct.

Thanks. Very good to know. I am going to up my mg to 24. If that makes it even somewhat easier, I'm that much more ahead of the game!

Hi Joe. Welcome to our thread. I know exactly what you mean about being embarrassed about not being able to quit immediately as soon as I took my first vape. And those who say they never intended to quit but quit 'accidentally' after their first vape used to tick me off just a tad. ;)

I'm a former 3-4 pack a day smoker and it took me 3 separate tries over the course of 4 years to finally give up the smokes. This last time I still continued to smoke over a pack a day while vaping at the same time for 4 months before I was finally able to quit with the support I received here. It's been over 4 months now and I still haven't given in to having a cigarette even though I know I'm just 1 cig away from becoming a full time smoker again.

I credit this thread and the people here for my success. My previous attempts were unsuccessful and when I gradually began smoking more than vaping I simply stopped checking out ECF since I considered myself as having failed when everyone else seemed to have succeeded with no problem. This thread has been for me like an AA meeting is for an alcoholic. Everyone here has been where I was and gave me unconditional support without judgement.

Everyone is different, but the turning point for me was getting an eRoll, which is a great cigalike. I needed something for work where I was surrounded by smokers, since my APV wasn't cutting it in that situation even though it was more powerful. I don't use it much anymore, since being around smokers doesn't trigger a need to join in much anymore, but I never could have come this far without using it for a while. I started off with 24mg nicotine and still use it. I'm a little afraid to cut down quite yet.

Come join us. We get it, and we're happy to help you, congratulate you, or just listen to you, whatever the case may be. :)

Thank you. very much appreciated!! Yea, quitting altogether is a .....!! A constant struggle. But one I plan on winning!

Note to everyone else: Hi! Hope you're all having a great day. I'm just about ready to pull all my hair out, sell my children to the nearest circus, and run off to take a vow of silence somewhere far far away. I can't wait until Tuesday!! Back where the insanity comes with a little tiny paycheck and occasional adult conversation.

Hope you're all having a wonderful day!!
