I don't let myself get riled up by this stuff anymore. Fact is, e-cigs have gone thermal runaway and even blown up, and fact is people have been hurt. Let the lawers and courts figure it all out, then the legislators can do what they do best and legislate rules and laws into existance to try and keep the dumbest of the dumbest amongst us from being able to come into harms way from their inept actions. I used to be the same way, then I realized that these things have zero impact upon me in any real sense. Getting riled up over something someone I will never meet, did or experienced, is a waste of energy and time. The courts will figure it out, that's what they do. I've got a full plate of real life stuff to deal with.

There are litterally pages of data and information on these cells and the dangers of improper use. Being willfully ignorant of widely published public safety data doesnt entitle this choad to a payday for being stupid.

What kills me is these dummy ambulance chasers are suing battery manufacturers that are some of the biggest electronics companies in the world with dozens of in house lawyers just waiting for something to do.

I worked for GE years ago. They rarely settled out of court as they had a huge bench of full time lawyers that they were paying anyways.

If you are gonna sue someone, don't sue Sony, LG, Panasonic or Samsung. You would have a better shot suing Provari, Smok, Crown, etc. than these huge multinationals. I thought lawyers knew fancy book learnin' stuff...

since some consumers refuse to educate themselves,seems like it would behoove battery retailers to package or label these products. manufacturers already have their disclaimers to prevent lawsuits, so retailers are most likely to take the beating. nothing good is likely to come from the court system.
because cardboard is inadequate, i have been pocketing my batteries in repurposed plastic containers that 3/4" end mills are shipped in since day one.(google end mill boxes beckett packaging). due to the added cost to retailers of this solution, i would guess that a warning on a sticky label applied to the battery or its box would be cost effective.

The saftey and proper handling data for these batteries is widely available and published by the manufacturers in compliance with federal regulations and have been commonly available since they hit the market long before e cigs arrived. Lazyiness in failing to educate oneself on the risks associated with any task, is ones own fault.


Most of the dangerous e cig explosions are from housing the cell in a pressurized unvented metal tube. Hence the drama over mechanical mods.

I think a company like Samsung is likely more concerned over the Note 7 recall than isolated events like these with ready explanations for thermal runaway. The one who might be concerned is the retailer who doesn't have a dozen lawyers sitting around ready to defend any claim. One case like this can financially exhaust a small business that lacks liability insurance in no time. Besides, the batteries were more likely to have been some generic rewrap, which will just add to the confusion over where the responsibility lies (if any).

Just because someone didnt look, doesnt mean it wasnt there for them all along.

Ignorance doesnt allow one to place blame and financial responsibility on another.

Placing blame on a company doesnt make the problem go away.
