it's not surprising that it's so subjective when it comes it e liquid because it's really more of a smell thing than a taste thing and when you look at how much some people can love a perfume that is extremely gross to another person, when i think about it that way it's easy to see why. Add to that the fact that many smokers/recent non-smokers sense of smell is compromised and that makes even more problems.
I think it's even more subjective than something like food, even. It seems like people can agree on foods they like more than odors they like.
and add to that the fact that various devices/vaping methods yield different taste experiences...and that's another factor

I don't get this. If someone loves a particular liquid and/or vendor they're fanboys? Because I love something you don't does that make it mediocre? I know I sound snarky and I don't intend to be, I just don't understand your statement.
Today, for example, I'm vaping MBV butter pecan in one tank, Five Pawn's Gambit and Ahlusion's Banana Cream Pie in two others. Two are considered "high end" and one is considered, by many, as mediocre. I just like all three so where do I stand? lol
Hmm, how about wearing cotton socks for two weeks or so and then unravelling them and using the yarn as wicking material ?
Lighter in the pocketbook...I bet you could make your own, just as good, if not better, for approx. 6 cents per ml... :~)
Yeah, I do want to try that someday. Right now though I have a 1 year old living here that is into EVERYTHING so it's not in the cards right now. I have my liquids up on a high shelf in my room but having a safe place to do the mixing and storing of nicotine is problematic.

It was the only way I found juice that fit me exactly.
There are lots of very popular juices I don't like.
Funny thing, though: I don't assume the world revolves around my personal preferences, or accuse people of being stupid, dishonest or ridiculous if they don't happen to share my tastes.

I kind of take offense to your calling reviews inaccurate and subjective fanboy minds and if this is your thinking, I'm not sure why you had to post anything at all except to put down people that have different tastes than you have. I'm glad you've moved on so let's not get personal, 'kay?
The secret is to find a juice you like, find a reviewer who reviews that juice in a way that you agree with, and then follow that person's reviews.
I got lucky, I stumbled onto Mad Murdock's juices and WTA e-juice before I'd sunk more than $100 into juices.
Boba's Bounty is a puzzler for me though. To me it generally tastes good, but it seems inconsistent from batch to batch. I had to eventually let that one fall by the wayside.

Tastes vary. Some people think Lady Gaga is the bee's knees. I find her music less than appealing.
I think the greatest classical composer ever is Beethoven, one of my good friends thinks it's Chopin.
I'm also one of those weirdos that never "got" Seinfeld. The show never appealed to me, although I did try watching several episodes.
I take every review with a grain of salt. Although flavorings and ratios are something that can definitely be measured, the effect of the end result on different people cannot.
A technical review dealing strictly with numbers is one thing, and it can be trusted (as long as the reviewer is trustworthy).
A review that deals with something as subjective as taste can be trusted only in that it is the honest opinion of the reviewer.

I know how you feel all too well. Everything I bought, I bought after careful consideration, reading the forums, reviews, mulling over what to get, what I want more... and after all that, the juice is not nearly what I expected. I think the main thing you should try to do is lower your expectations and find someone who has similar taste to you and see what they like. I'm also one of the unlucky ones who just don't like most of the stuff I get. I've been getting better at knowing what that is, but it is still hard to know for sure if you're blind buying the flavor. I'm not a tobacco vaper either but tobacco flavors have really grown on me and I find myself wanting it more and more. Hope you find what you're looking for!
Juice reviews, a bit fancy like wine tasters - "oooh a cool butternut finished with almond start, a mid palette wash of orange and coconut delight, and a slight cherry pomegranate flush aftertaste making a well rounded airy delightful drop".... LOL seriously? hahahaha...

then the price is way to high (cheap next to ciggs)
then you start talking I could make better juice then all the high end places for 6 cents
