I'm young 52 too. I smoked off 'socially' through high school, but quit after I graduated. Never wanted another smoke until almost 20 yrs later. I was in a punk rock band & all the girls in the scene were smokers, so I picked up the habit again.

Fast forward 25+ years... I was sick of coughing up lung oysters in the morning, my kids asking "Daddy, why do you smoke?", and my wife complaining about the smell. I started vaping in January & haven't wanted a cig since. ECF helped me find the right kit & nic level to get started.

I never wanted to quit cigarettes but tried one . When from 2 PAD to 5 right away that was amazing . After a few months I quit accept for some reason I would buy the occasion pack . That pack would last about 2 weeks and was never as good as I remembered . I stopped completely last April and now real cigarettes seem pretty disgusting to me and that was after smoking them for 40 years .

I'm an Asthmatic.

I'm 45 & smoked my first cigarette 32 years ago. By the time I was 16 I was a PAD smoker. My preferred brands were John Player Special, Galois, Gitanes, DuMaurier and Winston.

For the last 20 years I have been using Ventolin daily, as well as a succession of various steroids to cope with he effects the smoking was having on my asthma symptoms.

I tried switching to Snus a couple years ago, but failed.

About a month ago, I went outside for a .... and met a couple older coworkers who i smoked with regularly. One of them had just come back from vacation anf was vaping an 808 ecig he bought in a mall for $150. I was intrigued.

Later the next day the one who was smoking an analog said the corner store near his house is selling disposables for $15 so I asked him to pick one up for me.

When he Gave it to me the next day I immediately tried it and knew right away that I was quitting.

Here we are, 5 weeks later and analog free.

I'm really loving all of these success stories. I can't help but hit "like" for them all because they all make me happy. My real story is posted all over this board. I'm 20, I'll be 21 in April. I started smoking when I had just hit 14. When my mother found out she spoiled me and bought me a pack each day. I continued smoking all through high school and after graduating 12th grade cigarettes had risen to $8.75 a pack here in CT. I tried vaping but ended up relapsing due to my online juice order coming later than expected. I had to switch to roll your own cigarettes and I've been smoking those for around a year. I just switched back to e-cigarettes around 2 weeks ago and I haven't had any problems with the switch. I have a cigarette every 2 or 3 days but I don't plan to keep smoking after my bag of gambler tobacco has run out. :) VERY excited to get a variable volt mod, better throat hit, and stay away from cigs! :)

I am the black sheep of this forum I must say. I'm 34 been smoking since I was 16. I quit back in June 2010 when I found snus. I got a coupon for the Marlboro snus so got a free pack. It was crap but I was intrigued. I did research and found a local tobacco shop that sold real Swedish snus called General so I got a few tins. I liked it so much that I actually quit smoking with it without trying. That journey brought me to a snus forum where I learned also about Nasal snuff which I love as well now. Someone did a thread about ecigs and I got excited about it. I missed "smoking" something you know how that goes. A member of that same forum sent me two Leo batts with a 510 converter with prefilled cartos of bobas bounty, gorilla juice and hype.. with a couple bottles of extra e juice and a charger of course. I fell in love and found this forum. I then got a kgo from the reccomendation and now a lavatube. I still use the snus, snuff, and now vape haha.. my nic tolerence is all wacky but I don't care. I'm having a lot of fun and I'm glad I met all of you. This forum is great with a lot of great people. I'm honored to be a part of it :)

Glad I still fit in the younger group lol.

Started smoking age 14, got to 1 PAD age 18, then 1.5 PPD for years (minus 1-2 years of totally quitting cigs & got into long distance bicycle riding ~ 50 miles or so). Total cigs about 38 years. Quit the day I started vaping.

However, I do notice a few things with respect to heavy exercise. I quit the cigs before, & was able to do 50 miles bicycle rides on a mountain bike within 1 year at age 28.

I am noticing now, tho I don't cough anymore & my oxygen saturation is good. But I find if I've vaped within 2 hours of bicycle riding (I now ride a Specialized Roubaix full Dura Ace road bike), I'm breathing harder than I do when I don't vape. Just a FYI. & (assuming I don't go into heart rate heart attack beats-per-minute range), I can't keep up with the riders more than 10 years younger than me, bleh.

Either its residual damage (altho Pulm function tests were within normal limits), or vaping has some (?temporary?) broncho-constrictive effects.

I am 42. I started smoking at 17...thought it was cool. I tried everything to quit for the past few years. My father died of cancer a few years ago and he was a smoker. I was really getting down on myself because I could not shake it. I tried vaping in November and have not smoked an analog since that very day. I feel so much better about myself. Smelling the analogs on myself just depressed me every single day.

two of my friends vape and use snus. Maybe I should try snus too? According to HAMS, the swedish snus doesn't contain many carcinogens...

I am 39. I started smoking cigarettes when I was 24 since my girlfriend at the time was a smoker. I quickly developed a habit and smoked about a pack a day. I didn't even really like the taste of cigarettes, but they had that grip on me so I kept on doin' it. For me it was a combo of nicotine and the act of blowing smoke that kept me doing it for 15 years! I hated smoking 'em but couldn't quit after many attempts, trying a lot of various quitting techniques. Jan. 1st 2012 had me making yet another resolution to quit 'em cold turkey. I didn't even last a day, and was back on a PaD of my Marlboro medium/special blend/red labels.
I found some ecig video reviews on YouTube and decided to give one a try. I went with a KR8 type and LOVED it. After 3 days of vaping I had only smoked 4 analogs and the last one I smoked was pure nastyness. Today is my 30th day free of analogs! Even in extremely stressful times I still have no desire to go back to analogs. This week in particular has been the most stressful time in my life as my wife (total borderline personality) filed for divorce on Valentines day. The ECF forum and the vaping community has my undying gratitude for all of their advice and support. :)

26 stared smoking around 16. One day at work a co worker was using a kiosk style ecig. I went and got it that night and it sucked but i knew there was potential. Did some research and found ecf then got a riva to a mini reo to a provari now. I still might have a casual smoke while im out at the bars but haven't in over a month.

I am 26. I started smoking at 15. Smoked a pack a day from 18 to 25.

I started out on an overpriced gas station rig that really did not work well. I tried and gave up several times before finding ECF last January and got an ego kit. Since then I have had an infinity, a reo grand, a silver bullet, a Darwin, just got a lavatube, and waiting on my VVPV.

E cigs have helped tremendously in stopping smoking. I really wanted to quit after we had my daughter 3 1/2 years ago but every patch, gum, inhaler, and cold turkey made it very difficult. Now I also have a 1 year old son and my 3 year old daughter that I will be able to see grow up, and their families grow up without having the complications of decades of smoking.
