Ty:
1-boil the wicks for 10 min twice with clean water
2-pat dry (then nuke to pre soak the wicks this is an option)
3-heat wrap to get the coil tight against the wick, careful they are fragile
4-install and enjoy, break in should be about a tank

#4 - break in, is it taste and wicking or both?

Hey everyone. New to the rebuilding world thanks to Idaholandho. Got myself a zenesis mini and had a few questions about it. I am currently using 100% vg on a 28 gauge , 3/4 wrap and a porous wick (installed tonight). It'd currently at 1.2 ohms and I swear its always burning. Literally when I take the top cap off it'll actually burn. I tried a 4/5 wrap and I wasn't getting much vapor and pretty much no flavor. Prior to this install I was running a 5/6 wrap with 30 g kenthal on 400 ss mesh, and even with that I was having a hard time. Taking a decent vape (2-3 second) I was getting decent flavor but the second vape I took would burn instantly. Even at that point it seemed to get a decent amount of vapor one my exhale, the battery had to be extremely fresh. And battery wise, I'm using a AW IMR 18350 700mAh. If you guys have any input on what's happening or if I'm doing something wrong it'll be much appreciated. Mahaols!

Good Morning everyone!

Hawaii, Welcome!! By burning do you mean catching fire or just giving you a burnt taste? With 100% VG it sounds to me like its not wicking fast enough to meet the "vaping demand" (if it is catching fire thats a sure sign it is not wicking fast enough as VG will flame if it gets too hot due to a lack of wicking) If i remember right, 325 SS mesh was what people were using for the thicker VG juices. Are you tilting the device up with the wick on the bottom (facing the floor) as you vape to help with wicking? Is your air hole lined up with your wick?(i only mention these last two things as you stated you were new to the rebuilding world and Genesis style atomizers and may not know these two things)

I am by no means an expert and these are my opinions in hopes to help a fellow vaper out. (Wheres Andy when you need him lol)

I am such a happy vaper this morning:vapor:. I didn't think it was going to be possible but I managed to get a brand new Bam. I just got it set up and it works great. I'm so happy with it. Another very nice addition to my Zen collection.

This PV was sold to me at cost by an amazing Zenfidel. It's nice to know that not everybody in the ecig world is trying to make a profit off of you. This means a ton to me. What goes around comes around. Thank you K-man:toast:

Hello Hawaiiboay,

I use 100% vg juice in my Zens. I might get whipped for what I'm going to tell you but it works. I don't use insulators. I roll a fat tight wick with open ends. Not pinched off. I've used 325, 400 and 500 mesh. I find they are all similar in wicking capabilities.

Try using your 400 mesh rolled tight with no insulator and a 3/4 wrap of 30awg. It should ohm out around 1.0 to 1.2ohms. I usually tilt the PV to about 3 or 4 o'clock. I think you'll be happy with this set up.

I haven't used ceramic wicks so I can't help you with that.

Hope this helps.

A great solution is to pull apart an old carto. Inside there is a sleeve that can be trimmed and used as an insulator. It fits the wick hole perfectly? And allows a much wider wick then the stock zenesis insulators. Best of both worlds, fat wicks and still insulated.

That's a great idea. Much safer alternative. I'm gonna try this out. I'm not against insulators.... I just found that a fatter wick worked better for 100% vg. Thanks for the tip:)
