Zenith/Kroma kit

74 days without a cigarette so I’m still new to this whole vaping thing.

Started with Juul, got tired of refilling pods very quickly.

Switched to a Smok Nord. Have grown tired of the hit/miss with cools.

Just got my Zenith tank. Went ahead and got the Kroma/Zenith kit and it’s my first non-pod setup.

Like it so far. Only issue so far is there seems to be a lot of juice coming through when I take a hit. When I take a drag but put a thin white piece of cloth over the tip there is a very noticeable amount of brown stain on the cloth. Had the same issue when I got my Smok Nord but I corrected by switching from 50/50 nic salts to a 70v/30p freebase.

Currently Using the same 70vg/30pg 6mg Halo Tribeca.

Using the 1.6ohm coil;
Started at 14 watts;
Dropped to 11 watts and it reduced the juice but also the temp of the vape.
Adjusting the airflow doesn’t really make a difference.

Anyone else having the same issue with the amount of juice coming into their mouth? Is this normal with this type of setup? Did I flood the coil or something? I primed it with 5 drops then let it sit for about 10-15 minutes before taking the first hit.

Will probably limit it use at the house because I don’t want to carry around so much weight in my pocket.

Hmmm... juice leakage.
The zenith was a very well behaved atty for me while I had one (lost it on a trip). I’m wondering if there’s something up with an o-ring or if the cartridge is set in correctly. I’m not a zenith expert though. There are those here who are.

Could be normal vape condensation, this sounds excessive. My first guess is a incorrectly inserted coil, or flooding from takiñg too hard of draw. That tank is a MTL tank and requires a gentle draw technique. Don't overfill the tank.

I’ll alter the draw and play around with the airflow but not sure how the coil can be installed incorrectly...pretty straight forward...but I’ll check that as well. Thanks!

You're not alone here, it's the Zenith's one real downside. I love the tank, but ya, it gets a bit too wet and juice can work it's way up to the drip tip. I switched to 70vg juices in it, and also tried to not suck as hard on the inhale. Both help a bit.

But I'd recommend getting a longer drip tip. That's what turned the tide for me. Since you're new to this, you may not have a large collection of extra drip tips yet, but you can get some slightly longer ones for cheap. I use the one that came with the Aspire Nautilus 2. Looks like you can get them for a buck on theor site, but it'll likely take a bit to ship to you. Nautilus 2 Drip Tip - $1.00 : Aspire online shopping

But anything around that size should give you a bit more room for the juice not to get in your mouth. Also, right before I go to refill, I take the tip out and give the tank a shake over the sink to clean out excess juice. Maybe give the inside of the tip a little q-tip cleaning. It's a minor pain, but once you crack the code and find what works for you, it should be easy. Let me know if you have any questions.

I am a bit puzzled by this so I'll watch this thread with interest.

It took me a while to take to the Zenith after so many years using a Nautilus Mini; I did try a longer drip tip at the beginning but once I tried setting my Zenith at 8 watts using either 50/50 PG/VG and then 30 PG/70 VG I just settled for the standard tip with 4 holes open on the airflow control and I've honestly never had any issues.

Ditto with the one Zlide I have.

Hope you get a solution soon.

I have a Zenith and a Zlide--they both work just fine. But you may want to ask in the Zenith thread (and read the thread for tips). The coil has to be inserted just right. Also, check YouTube videos and tutorials--lots of good info there. Good luck.

I gave up on Zeniths for the same reason. Not the Zeniths fault but mine. See with each drag there was a lot of leftover vape in the chimney and at 70%+ vg it caused what I called 'slurpees'. Yummy at first, but very annoying very quickly.

Switching to pods made it better for me once I found a pod I liked. The Vaporesso Target Mini II is very similar to a Zenith but thus far I've gotten zero slurpees since July. My pod of choice is a Juul-like Vladdin RE but some may find it needs refilling too often or charging too often.

Actually it's not entirely simple it kind of clicks into place. If you didn't feel that you need to play around more with your coil.

I have 3 zeniths and never had a problem although I did get my first "bad" coil. Tasted burnt, unable to prime it, etc.

But the flooding is likely to do with either a bad coil or poor insertion, just my 2 cents.

Just to add, I've tested this a lot and I'm almost sure that the main cause for this is because some of us just pull harder than others when we vape, and I think that's the reason it only happens to some of us and not others.

I have 2 Zeniths, and have gone through a zillion different coils, and tried all sorts of various things to test, and I think it just comes down to that. I wouldn't overthink your hardware, just to save you some time. I've found that it's all about getting around it with a hack or two, and accepting that you're a hard puffer ;)

Thanks to everyone for the responses and ideas. Here are some photos which illustrate what I am referring to.

One photo is the air control ring after unscrewing yesterday. I Chnaged to the .8 ohm coil and made sure it was seated properly which seems to have resolved that issue for now.

The other photo is the liquid that is building up in the chimney of the Zenith tank. This is after about 5-10 drags. I haven’t purchased a long drip tip yet but will.

The third photo is what sparked this thread originally. I took a paper towel and placed it over the mouthpiece of both my Smok Nord and the Zenith tank. You can see there is hardly any discoloration for the Nord while the opposite is true for the Zenith.

I am vaping the same juice in both devices: Halo TriBeCa 70v/30p, 6mg nic. This juice, if you are not familiar, is a tobacco flavor juice and a golden/brown color (see 4th photo of Nord pod).

In the side by side photo Kroma is set to 16.5 watts, using the .8ohm coil with three air flow holes exposed.

I am using the 1.4ohm coil in the Nord.

Any additional thoughts?

I know the paper towel should be slightly discolored because of the vape/moisture but I don’t think it should be that discolored.

Is the discoloration normal?

It’s not angrily spitting the juice in my mouth and it’s not straight juice but should the vape be that brown?

***the discoloring of the paper towel occurs regardless of the wattage I use. I’ve tested it from 12-18 with minimal differences in the results.

I don't have the Zenith, but do have an Innokin tank with similar way to insert coil (mine is Prism S) Make sure the flat edges on the coil are lined up with the flat edges in the tank. Press firmly. First time I changed coil I was not in good light and was sure I did it right. Walked out in the sunlight and sure enough it didn't quite seat all the way in. This will cause juice to leak into airflow part. On mine the gasket is on coil, but looking at a review video the zenith seems to have the gasket (o-ring) on the tank (not the tiny one on 510 thread) Maybe your's came out or was missing? That twist open topfill could also act up... make sure to twist it closed well. As a test (after removing coil and checking gasket/o-rings) clean and dry everything, re-insert coil but only fill tank halfway. Do not tip tank... keep it straight up and vape it awhile. If it's still leaking internally, this rules out the topfill seal (mine is different... top unscrews and there is a gasket on top of coil) Hope this helps. Good old "process of elimination". BTW, hot environment (like hot car) will really thin juices! That and 50/50 juice will cause tanks to leak. Should be OK with thicker juice, but hot car is also bad for batteries.
