Ok .. another update here. I've made 3 of these now and they are working wonderfully. I even went back and used 2 of the old silicone caps I made that were leaking like crazy because they weren't "perfect" to make the 2 new cartidges. I've had zero leaks.

My only other concern previously was taste. It seemed a little dryer than the mod without the poly-fill. I ended up making the hole for the atty even larger by using the same #4 punch (from smallest to largest) and making the hole as an eclipse by punching some off the left and right of the original hole I made in the center. It basically just looks like an oblong silicone washer now which is really only keeping the poly-fil from going anywhere. My atty wick seems to fit inside of it entirely now and so far it's not leaking because the poly-fill is kind of circling it. Taste is much better because it's not just touching the juice, but is sitting in the middle of the small ring of poly-fil and kinda touching the juice directly I guess.

I just received some new juice (which is excellent BTW, but I don't think I'm supposed to mention any vendors) and it's a little thinner than my last. It's not leaking at all either.

I would LOVE to hear if anyone else is trying this. It's really made this mod top notch for me. Especially with the bigger hole. If anything changes, I'll update the forum.

Note: I just took off the cart to see if it looked like it's leaking even though I'm not noticing it. Looks very clean and it wasn't indented so I do think my atty wick is actually fitting inside it without pushing it down. Also, I find it much easier to put the little string/yarn I made inside the cart if it's wet. I just get it wet with e-juice and shape it in there. Make sure you line up the atty wick with the oblong whole that is made so it fits perfectly. Until I get my syringe to fill them with, I've been taking tweezers to remove the silicone top and poly-fil. It goes right back in with no problems.

Okay, I've read enough I would like to try this. Pictures would be great.

One question, is the hole big enough that you can add liquid or do you have to take the whole thing out?

I actually had a lot of down time from being sick. Glad that's over! I hated not being able to taste my juice!

As for this mod, it really kind of worked right out of the gate. There's not a lot of fixing to it. Once I learned how to cut a decent plug/cap, found the right silicone material, and straw lenght it was pretty much a done deal. Keep in mind, I don't use this mod much but it's a great one to add to my arsenal. You put 8-9 drops in this mod and you're going to be getting flavor and vapor out the wazoo.

The reason I don't use it much is that I really loved the old ADM mod. And once I came up with a plastic version that worked for me, I was good to go. The drawback to this mod, is you can't pull juice out of your pocket and top off. Which is primarily how I used my 510. A few drops in the filler and one on the atomizer and that's worth one good vape. When I'm heading out to break at work or going out, I fill the ADM with juice and I'm good to go. I've even actually got carts in my PCC now! I think the ZERO FILLER just has too much potential for leaking. If I'm at home and ready to vape, I'll take it out and hit the juice for a very satisfying vaping experience. But for everyday use, I'm sticking with the plastic version of the ADM. It really, really works for me and we've still got Scotty to thank.

Oh...uh...and it's the holiday season busy thingy, too.

Update on my super glued 801 plug:

I started from scratch once again with an 801 cart and the silicone cap, glued the cap on with super glue by putting the glue on the rim of the cart (I used the glue on the cap last time and made a bit of a mess might have been the issue) this does not have an air tight seal, by accident. (I used the glue on the cap last time and made a bit of a mess with it that might have been the issue) The air leak is on one of the indents in the side of the reservoir for the vapor to get to the mouth piece. I put one tiny pin hole in the cap with a needle and used my 18 gauge syringe needle to fill very carefully as to stretch the silicone and not tear it (less then 1/10th shy of one ml). This worked fine for about an hour and a half I thought it must have been the residual juice in the atomizer because I started to get that dry atomizer taste and it would no longer wick. I added two more tiny holes and then it worked again for a few more hours of vaping, (at this point in time I am not using my pv 100% of the time to much hassle to stop and clean juice/leakage and change batteries on a construction site). Then I added two more holes after the same result, another half an hour or so and the cart was dry (roughly 8-10 hours of heavy vaping). Results continued and I am now up to 7 holes (one in the middle and others about 2 mm radius circle around the center hole). No leaks two refills and total of about 12-14 hours of heavy vaping and 3 days of the passthrough, atomizer and cart together, orientated vertical with mouth piece up when not in use, and other then adding holes no leaks, no fuss, no problems.

It has been a few hours of use with 7 holes but I think as the silicone heats up the holes close up or may be getting clogged somehow, as well as the cap seems to stretch further and further into the atty. I will keep using this one for a couple more days and see what I come up with, then try to make a few more carts so I can keep different flavors on hand. Eventually when I get my 18650's in I will make a battery mod and hopefully be able to take this thing to work with an extra cart and feel safe in not needing to 'tinker' with anything.

I hope this helps someone else with problems, I feel confident to have read all the posts and I was having problems with the 801 version.

Once again thank you scotty and codfish for your ingenuity with this mod.

Okay, so I got my DSE601 today...and cursing polyfil! I am now trying to wrap my head around a cart that is nearly 3ml.

Has anyone tried doing this mod on a cart this big? I know that direct dripping will give me MONSTER vapor, but I don't care for dripping much, and the polyfil just retains too much of the juice...it saddens me to know that I have probably 2ml of juice in the poly that I simply can't get to...

For those that don't know how big a 601 cart is, take your 510 cart and imagine it sliding inside the 601, completely!

I don't think a straw will work to support the plug, not wide enough.

If anyone has successfully created a great mod for the 601, please let me know.

Yeah it is heart breaking to know you've got the beast of a PV with the 601 and the cart is possibly the most useless thing in all the devices I've got. Especially given the size of the cart!

At the moment I'm direct dripping, but I do intend to give this mod a go. I'll post here when I do. It won't be for a couple of weeks though. But there's nothing to stop you using a couple of straws side-by-side to support the top.

I'm a bit wary because they're a pain to clear when flooded, but I'll give it a go.

Alirght, I'm on refill number three and this mod is still going strong for me. I am truly impressed! Thanks to all for the input and ideas. Here is what I have done...

I am using a 510...

-My straw cut was 16mm
-I think the main reason for success was cutting the edges of the "plug" at 45 degree angles going inward like so \_/ (can't remember who suggested this, but thanks none the less!) I think this allows for a slight larger than cart diameter and still be successful.
-After cutting a + with a scalpel, I folded the "plug" in half (both ways) and bored a tiny hole out. A tiny punch could work, but I think the hybrid + and tiny hole has worked best for me.

I am going to try and duplicate my first test run for a couple of other carts, and hopefully I have as much luck as I did on my first.

Thanks again to all....

The Automatic Drip Mod. The one with the spring from a pen. I'm using plastic and a little larger filler to create a better seal which allows you to top off the cart or fill it with juice.

--Prof Daffy

My wife still uses my first ADM mod (spring and polly).. Still a good mod I just hated how every once in a while I would get that stray peice of polly on the atty's coil and it would taste really bad like throw up in my mouth bad..lol however that was rare, really not a huge ordeal 98% it worked great!

As a matter a fact she has had the same cart for almost 2 months now! One cart! I did change the polly for her probly 3 times but same spring same cart.. She gets set in her ways, oh btw her spring looks just as shinny as the day I put it in, and Ive hit it a few times here and there and I have not tasted any metalic taste at all .. I guess my springs are stainless..

As for me im still into the ZFM.. flavor just as good as driping and I cut down on my juice uptake by 2 ml... it takes time to get it right but when you do you know it, I dont think I could go back:)

Great mod!! Takes only a few minutes to do, and seems to last through some heavy vaping. Got 3 done now just have to order that dropper with the needle nose. Glad I found this because I was getting discouraged with my 510. The poly is terrible and I was constantly topping off. Flavor seems to be better also, saved me a few bucks on an upgraded PV :) Thanks Scott

Might be a stretch to find depending on where you live but there are a lot of smoothie places around here and they use monster sized straws so they can put real fruit, jelly, or tapioca in the drinks and not have to worry about the straws getting blocked up. They may be too big (have not seen or used the dse601) but by cutting a slice out of the side and rolling it tighter/cut off excess should work fine.

Another 801 update:

1/2 of the way through my 4th full cart the glue around the seal seemed to come half undone. The cart leaked about half of what was left and it ran down the passthrough... I don't know if this was due to heat or the e liquid breaking the glue down. I finished off the cart resealed it, and threw in half a cart of flavored juice (almond yum) and is working fine now aside from having to 'pump' the cart in and out of the atty when it gets dry. I think the seal is air tight now so a vacuum is formed. I don't think its a downside to do more work to get the juice out of the cart, I would rather that then getting a mouth full of it or having it leak into/onto whatever I am using to power it.
