Not exactly a newbie at vaping, since I've been doing it off and on for over a year, but I finally got serious after a purchase of a Silver Bullet PV. After messin' around with the PTB filler mod, I got down to employing Scott's ZFM last night. My first attempt went wonderfully, although I had some close encounters with the X-acto and the blood-tight integrity of my fingers. Luckily I didn't spring any leaks (fingers, that is). I decided to make up a spare cart (510) to take to work and was deciding on a safer method of cap-cutting. First, I placed a cap over the cart and punched a hole through it with a sharp pencil, and while it was still taut on the cart made two tiny incisions in a cross pattern, each about .040" (this is Amurrica, boys) in each direction. Then I got a 2" C-clamp and cinched the cart and cap down with the cap on the fixed end of the clamp, snug enough so it wouldn't slip. I cut the body of the cap off first, yielding a tube that I slid up the cart so I wouldn't have to wiggle the X-acto blade down so far. Once the circular body was out of the way, I cut the remainder flush all the way around the perimeter of the cart. When I released the clamp, the silicone, which was compressed a bit, nicely shrunk to fill the inside of the cart very snugly. My initial fill was done by filling the straw with my juice and then replacing the plug. BTW, the straw is .590" long - Amurrica, ya know? Refilling the cart was accomplished with an old syringe I had lying around from refilling inkjet cartridges, poking it in the hole made by the pencil. All in all a very satisfying evening mod. Since I'm lazy at heart, I ordered a bunch of pre-made plugs from Scott's website this morning.
Great idea Scott. I look forward to ordering some 901 carts for my wife's Mini from your site when they become available.
Kudos to youse.
