Ok, I got my SS430 from Unkamen. I'm using it, twisted, on three different mods (VT75+Calix, VTC Mini+Hurricane, Apollo Reliant+Hadaly), three different eliquids. TC is perfect, no sensitivity at all.

I am now sure that whatever CrazyWire sold me as SS430 was NOT in fact SS430. I am quite upset with them.

Twisted SS430 is quite springy, but at least is dry burnable with no worries. Next time I'll try to lightly flame it as suggested (or anneal it before winding, by connecting the wire to the two posts in an atomizer, as I did with titanium).

Yep, I don't trust crazy wire at all. Too many complaints about tcr problems.

Re 430SS. I have found that a low temp bic lighter annealing is all that is required for wrapping coils. Be careful about getting it too hot when annealing or dryburning as it gets very weak. To dryburn I only take it to dull red otherwise it's difficult to rewick with rayon without distorting the coil.
Also, don't be surprised if the res and tcr drift upward very slightly after your first and second dryburns. It seems to take a while to settle in for me.

Just because the composition and TCR is not exactly the same as Unkamens ss430 doesn't mean it's not ss430.
CW's composition list for 430 matches up with what AK Steel lists for theirs. I have no problem using CW's 430 with a higher TCR, I just wish that I had bought CW's 28 gauge 430 so as to better compare the two.

It's not just the TCR. It's the fact that I am provably sensitive to nickel (it happens with Ni200 and all SSs) and CrazyWire's 430 triggered that as bad as 316 or 304. Unkamen's doesn't.

Thanks GeorgeS. I've read past posts and they all seem to confirm that CrazyWire's SS430 is not what it says it is. TCR doesn't like, after all. I just ordered from Unkamen. I really, really would like to avoid working with Titanium and its springiness...

Have you tried to order from TEMCo? They carry annealed Titanium wire that is supposed to be softer than the tempered stuff that most people carry. I haven't tried it as I'm still using my Ti from Unkamen and happy (though it is a bit springy).

Anybody tried this (TEMCo)? I was tempted to try Sweet Spot Vapors Ti Wire... but the prices are outrageous.
I really like TEMco & their TI wire. The wire is clean, annealed (soft) and easy to coil ,form and manipulate, not springy at all. A TCR of 0366 works perfectly.
I could not stand the Unkamen TI wire because it was so springy.

I switched from Unkamen to Temco as well, but there was a long period before Temco sold titanium wire. You had to heat up the Unk wire a bit to soften it.

Some say that the CW SS430 is a different composition. I say if it makes it a different TCR, then it isn't SS430.
At any rate, I'll not be darkening their shopping cart again.
I've got quite a bit of their 28ga SS430 if anyone wants it for the price of shipping. PM me.

I'm impressed! You didn't say you had it analyzed. But, I only have experience with this and the crap from CW. This one vapes well with the Steam-Engine CSV, CW version does not.
Personally I have standardized on NiFe52, I just like it. 316L seems to have its adherents, I may try that one day as well.
I wrap single coils at 8/7 and 7/6 and don't want the resistance getting too high for TC, which I have experienced a couple of times. Of course, if you are sensitive to Ni, your not going to want NiFe, Ti may be the sole choice for vaping TC.
