Trolls on ECF?

Over the years I've seen many posters accused of being trolls.
Some of those accusations I have agreed with, and others I have not necessarily agreed with.

And some people who I think are trolls of one form or another have not been called out.
And I am not one to call out a troll, as I feel that any opinion should be posted and up for discussion.

But having said all that, what kind of trolls MIGHT we expect to find around here?

--ANTZ trolls?
--Government trolls?
--Big tobacco trolls?
--Big Pharma trolls?

Well, I would think you might expect to find a sampling of all such possible trolls.
This IS the largest electronic cigarette forum in the world, and the powers that be would ignore us at their own peril.

So for my part, I do not think I have seen many ANTZ trolls, if any.
They would not survive a day here.

Government trolls?
I don't think they are interested in using their resources this way.

Big Pharma trolls? Maybe.
Not so sure I have seen anyone I could pin that tag on though.

Big tobacco trolls? Maybe.
Yeah, maybe.

What are your thoughts?

And I fully expect this thread to be closed quite quickly, although I hope it isn't.
But if it is, I will understand, as it may get very contentious.

Or perhaps everyone will just ignore it and move on.

I'm fairly certain my mother-in-law is a troll... Though I'm not sure what "type" she would be classified under... All I know is she's incredibly ugly, smells terrible and I'm fairly sure she lives under a bridge.

There is a wealth of incriminating evidence on a daily basis.

I've seen a lot of trollish posting on ECF, but I don't know if they are actual Sunstein plants, or just misguided vapers who uncritically swallowed ANTZ propaganda and are spewing it back on this forum. The demonstrable fact remains that some ANTZ-y discourse continues to be gushed by various posters on ECF (particularly in discussions on this very board).

Heh, I mean, I don't think the trolls are necessarily gonna come out to comment on whether or not they think they're trolling or whatever.

Also, the troll term is kind of vague, is a troll just anyone who disagrees with your point of view? In my opinion, a troll is someone who is intentionally playing dumb or saying things to rile someone up. Most people, in my experience on ECF, seem to be sincere, and either are truly invested in their ways of thinking (and aren't trying to get people riled up), or are just misinformed and sort of leave the conversation with their "tail between their legs" when they realize that what they're saying was wrong. Other people even acknowledge (and I've been corrected and acknowledged that I was wrong) when someone points out something wrong (and true) about their post.

I don't think there's a lot of trolls on here. Also, the 5-post-minimum type thing makes the effort to troll this forum a little more than average.. It's not like we're being raided by y'know.. That one website.

DC2, you ran head on into a troll last night. A lot of people have called him a troll and yet he survives. I'm not entirely sure why except, half tongue in cheek, the mods find it amusing to watch us take the bait. Ten page threads go to 50+. I think most of the trolls that are visibly here are bored people who like to yank other peoples' chains. Then benefit is that a lot of good links and sane arguments are made against the trolls that inform new and less informed members.

I too agree that BT, BP and the rest of their ilk monitor anonymously because they can gather information on a wide swath of social/economic levels without having to have the "brass" to come in here and say they do it. My , which is subject to change.

Strange that you should start this post. I was just now looking at the posts of one that I suspected of being a troll. Went through several of his/her posts looking for verification of my suspicions, but no red flag. So, either he/she is ok or I'm got bored too quickly.
