Anyone try 430 SS? 12 wraps of 28 gauge around 2mm mandrel dual coil in an Aromamizer and I have to have the TC set to about 580-590F to get a decent vape. Wondering if that is normal with the 430 SS.

There is no setting for SS430 in the RX200 [Yet] although adjustable TCR must be due shortly as they released it on the VTC Mini

The preset is for SS316

He doesn't say which firmware he's using, and as the review is from three weeks ago it could be the old firmware (though that supposedly ran hotter and burnt the cotton). In any case, DJLsb vapes' temp tests show the RX firing about 20-30f low across the board, with the 1.07 firmware (should not require 500-550, unless you're normally on 480-530f). In USM's tests the temp was spot on. Mike does the cotton burn test, yes, but that's not always very reliable. Again, I tend to trust measurements with instruments more than subjective assessments.

Not exactly spot on...but 1° variance is as close to spot on as I've tested in a mod ;)

There seems to be huge differences on the same devices with tests done by different people. I'm wondering if that's due to variation in the individual devices or something else. Builds, temp probes being set in slightly different positions, etc.

I run my tests usually on a spaced (but very close, almost contact, coil and take the temp from inside the coil

My guess would be build differences....my vape is subjectively warm at 420 before even probing...very similar to my two adjustable tcr mods....and I know those are accurate.

I think until there is a manual TCR adjustment there will be these variances. All I know is mine at 480 right now is giving me the same vape as the SX at 420. I use a single 5 wrap spaced 3mm 26awg coil using Unkamen Ti. I am very happy with it the way it is now that I know what I need to use the get the vape that I'm used to.

Good plan!

Thanks to the folks on ECF posting about potential issues, I am avoiding any updates and not charging via USB until I am confident all bugs/issues have been fixed. I tend to stick with Kanthal builds and don't bother with TC often, so I am currently happy with my RX200 and love the vape I am getting between 30-80w.

So far it is a great mod. But I have only had I only had it a few days and haven't really done anything that might cause it to malfunction.

I expect that variance is based on the purity of the wire they have available out there
Have used the Ti mode briefly but not the manual TCR yet which I would set at 0.00350 as that works for me on the M class with the crazy wire
@Quantum Mech How does that VTC mini perform with the manual TCR. I see that Joyetech shows the value for Ti01 at .00300-.00400 quite a variation and if their chip is set to around .00300 SE puts it at .00366 that would definately make the difference.

I also see that they came out with a new mod that is 150w with the v3.0 FW so it comes with TCR adjustment. I also see they use the TCR at TCRx10 to the -1 power so Ti would be 366 on a Jtech board. I am sure if they can find a way to do it with this board they will do it. Otherwise instead of another of these I'll get the new Cuboid. Also for the guy that uses SS430 it would be 138.
