Yeah its simple enough once you lower the center bridge it also works with the RNs and originals fine. After taking the threaded part out and lowering the bridge when you bang it back into the holder just make sure you dont pop the center lead higher again since the center post on the bottom is quite big. Its very straight forward no need for huge amounts of muscle just be careful is all.

I will test the tolerances on RN and DSE atomizers tomorrow to see if we can universally move the center post down and all still work. We should be able to find a universal *sweet spot* ... :)

You just love your sweet spots dont you? :p

Thats ok, so do I...In a very Hetero way of course! :)

I received my Prodigy today! (order #16297) I'm very happy with this unit. My experience has been with the 801 and 901. Mostly I've ordered through Puresmoker and they have been just great on service and dealing with any issues in the past.

The Prodigy absolutely blew me away with the vapor production! I see this as an end to ever having to worry about batteries. Very well done!

I see a couple items that version 2 could be incorporated. The items have already been addressed but I can see a knurled battery cap end and make it another 1/16" longer. It seems like the smooth surface is a bit slippery to try and untwist/twisting on and off. Ya know, it just needs a tad bit more to grab onto.

Also somewhere else on the forums someone mentioned dovetailing the area where the spring installs. Instead of using the super glue a dovetail would work better. For one reason the super glue creates a vapor that migrates all over the spring. In fact the first thing I did upon unpacking was to take my jewelers loupe and I could see the coating clear up on the end of the spring where it makes contact with the battery base. I took my small stainless steel wire brush and cleaned off all the super glue coating. If someone is having power problems they might want to clean that area and make sure they are having good contact.

Also I believe the spring might be just a tad bit too long as it doesn't seem like I can tighten the battery cap all the way. Inside, I think the spring is getting compressed all the way.

One more tiny thing to look out for is the end of the spring has a final diameter of almost just the same size of the metal area on the end of the battery. If the spring is riding on that plastic part it may not be making very good ground contact. If you simply look at the end of the spring and the battery you will see what I mean. I took a pair of needle nose pliers and reshaped that spring end to assure centering contact.

Now don't take any of what I said as any thing negative, this thing is awesome!!! If someone told me four weeks ago that I would be completely off analogs I would say they were crazy. Two packs a day for untold years.
Well I did it and I am happy for myself. Things taste way better, I am not coughing at all, no more stinky cig smell and best of all vaping is actually a ton of fun. Now with the Prodigy I am really all set!!

Thanks!

Couple maybe tips. For the second time it lost power, so investigated. Since both ends are bare I assume the electrical path goes through both? Don't know, but the head end was gunked up with the black stuff you always see on a flashlight with threads in the path. Back end was clean.

Wiped it off and all was well, so maybe there's some routine maintenance.

While I was there I lightly lubed the threads at both ends with Nyogel 759g, an electrically conductive lube. It's been superseded by 760g. The big thing here is how much better it threads on with the lube. Flashlight guys will get into endless discussions about the best lube for their threads, even modding the lubes themselves. This stuff is pretty basic, I think it used to be, maybe still is the default Surefire lube.

I don't know if it will keep the gunk at bay, but it completely changes the character of the thing being so smooth to work the caps, as well as being able to screw them on a good bit farther. Actually had to be careful not to overdo it.

Yeah ... My end cap is soooo worn in, it literally goes on like butter ...

Anything to make that first couple weeks of screwing and unscrewing until the threads get worked would help! Especially since everything from the spring, the threads, even the contact posts have yet to set and take a few weeks to do so! This seems like just the ticket!

Down the rabbit hole..
What is this "gunk" you are talking about and where would one find it? I looked and looked and no gunk. Also either my endcap goes on easily or I'm freakishly strong because other than a mild pressure I haven't had the prob. getting it to screw on! Should I be "lubing" mine?? (it sounds kinda kinky)Heh,heh

oi vey violet ... lube is infact quite a kinky substance ... even when used on aluminum ;)

If you have zero issues and your threads have been worked in, don't worry about it. There is a black film that can get caught between the threads when screwing on/off. Just outside debris getting trapped.

Many times, when aluminum comes threaded, little burrs and pokey things/aluminum debris gets stuck in the threads. Over time, these *burrs* eventually come off from the constant screw on/off action and *smooth out* the rough edges ... thus, turning like butter :)

I've a question that has probably been asked, answered and more than likely in the instructions. I've read as much as I can on here about the prodigy, but may have missed this question and answer and since I haven't received my prodigy yet I haven't been able to read the instructions :D

So, do the batteries come charged? If not, how long do we have to charge them the first time? And, does the prodigy take the 123a batteries? If so, I've some coming in the mail that I might be able to have charged up before the prodigy comes. Oh, I ordered the 901 if that helps.

hey sharon ...

batteries that come with the kit do not come fully charged ... now, with that said, i normally see about 60/70% life in them from the get go ... meaning, you can pop the extra set on the charger and put the 2nd set in the Prodigy and begin enjoying ... Don't have to wait for both to completely charge!

As far as RCR123a batteries ... depends on the type. Some will infact work, others won't. We have a battery thread on our PS subforum (down a bit) where I go over what we recommend. I'm hoping to get user information for the future so we can tell what does and doesn't work so well.

Once you get the Prodigy, if you can test the RCR's that you have coming and let us know whether or not they work, that would be great!

thanks sharon

Wow, you are so so busy, yet you answer an email. Thanks!!!!!

I sure will let you know if they work, hope they do, but if not, no biggy.

Look forward to receiving the prodigy!

breakfast ... answered your question for you on VapersForum :)

Hey Breakfast ...

On some of the early Prodigy's and PT's ... The adapter post was longer than the threads. Worked for both 801/4072's ... however, it needed to be pushed down for BE atomizers ...

Our adapters now (or starting to ship now) have flush center posts ... so they should work from the get go without needing to manually punch it down a bit.
