Best Commercial 3.7v Mod - Which unit does 3.7v better than the rest?
Best Commercial HV Mod - Which unit provides the best HV experience?
Best Hobby Mod - Which PV mod, not available from a supplier web site is the best?
Best Innovation of the Year - What single item changed the way we enjoy vaping?
Best Overall Supplier - Your go-to source!
Best Reviewer of the Year - Who is the top reviewer, either written or video.
Bang for the Buck Award - Which supplier provides the greatest value.

Whoah someone's busted.

Are they? I understand people having a big problem with the idea of someone doing covert surveys so that they could rip off people's mods- that's fine.

But if you're going to start making accusations of illegal activities like phishing, or just despicable ones like spamming- you really ought to provide some proof (rather than making a bunch of videos of something you could have just as easily started in text form).

I mean, has anyone proven that this is true? Or are people just saying it because they don't like being tricked into a survey?

I'm confused...I clicked on the link posted in this thread to do the survey, like a few minutes after it was posted. I got a page saying I had to fill in my email addy then check my inbox for a code then I had to return to that page and re enter my email plus the code in order to vote. After I entered my email and clicked instead of ever getting a code it went directly to the page to vote. Now I see this scam warning. So, did I vote, or did I give my addy to a phishing place in China? I looked at the URLs in my history and they match up to the youtube video scam warning one. whats up?

Exactly. I have no idea if the claims are true because nobody has bothered to post a single link between the sites. Random claims on the internet don't cut it. Where's the damn beef?!

As far as I can tell this is NOT a phishing site.

"Phishing" is when a site pretends to be a trusted site (like your bank) in an effort to fool you into providing sensitive details about yourself; credit card info, usernames and passwords, etc. Phishing is usually an attempt to steal your identity and take your money.

There are claims that this site is harvesting email addresses in order to send you spam. As far as I can tell there hasn't been any actual proof of that.

People are claiming that this site is a ruse to get you to take a poll but it is actually market research for a Chinese company so they can manufacture knock offs of people's favorite mods.

I know. I'm beginning to question the whole thing honestly.

The way it's starting to look to me is that someone (who, we do not know) who "found out" that this site is a Chinese manufacturer ... and they are ...... off about what's going on with mod knock offs and they've decided to strike back by telling people that this site is going to spam you and phish your info (even though no one who's gone through the process of voting has mentioned giving out anything but their email addresses).

But after watching videos about "going to war" with the Chinese over them stealing "our" stuff... I don't know :p seems a bit scare mongery

I'm not even sure if that third thing you mentioned is true...if you read this thread from the beginning to the end...it certainly doesn't seem like a Chinese company trying to manufacture knock offs...alot of these questions were suggested by well established members of the ECF community...Looks Legit to me

I'm sure more will come out shortly. It should be interesting. As for going to war with the country that created the ecig....well...not likely :)

I have no idea if it's legit or not. No one has provided anything that says otherwise. But the guy who set up the site without being asked to (voidNIL) is a new guy, so who knows.

Would I take the poll? nope.

But it doesn't make them spammers or phishers.

Without evidence it also opens up the door to speculation. Here's a few things that tend to make me doubt the whole phishing and email farming claims:

Spam is extremely inefficient and only works because of the enormous numbers involved. Targeted unsolicited spam from an established company would be extremely counter-productive and damaging to their regular, legitimate email traffic.

The other claim that they are using it for market research could be true but it would be far easier to just spend a few hours on all the ecig forums to get a much more accurate picture of the current mod market. This combined with their own accumulated sales data is far more useful than net poll could ever be.

This leads me to one of two conclusions:

1 - The accusations are false

2 - The Chinese company mentioned is extremely incompetent.
