No but I smoked more and longer than you Im sure you smell better and If I remember right it takes a few months to be rid of the affects of cigarettes. You could start smoking a pack a day for another 15 years and I promise you will know a difference!
Id take this as a good sign as your in good health. Or you are in very poor health and your going to die in the next week ether way as least your not smoking;-)

It may take longer, but you will feel it! If you didn't feel that badly to begin with when smoking, look a bit further into how you feel now. Things smell better? (Or worse, if it's a bad smell lol) food taste different? YOU smell better, for sure! Your clothes, hair, breath....it took awhile for me, but the first time I walked by someone that had just smoked and just about gagged from their reek...man! And the first time I was in the car, window up, vents on, and could smell the person in the car in FRONT of me smoking...wow. It was a humbling experience to know that had once been me.

That, in itself, is almost enough for me. The number one difference that made all th world for me was not ever again having to end the book I was reading to my children because I couldn't catch my breath.

Sometimes it's the little things.

Over 4 months since my last cig after nearly 40 years of smoking, and I don't feel any difference at all. I still have a very diminished sense of taste and smell but I might have to blame that on bad allergies. Never did have any problems with coughing or shortness of breath which is amazing because I was a heavy smoker.

Even so, there are some positives. I no longer have to worry that my house, car and clothes smell like an ashtray. I can vape in places where I couldn't smoke (sometimes). I have more peace of mind.

The only difference I noticed was my breath control while singing and not being out of breath while doing physical labor stuff. I never coughed up junk.

I guess some of us smoked shallower?

It's funny you mentioned singing. I told my Mom I had quit smoking and started vaping and she asked if I noticed any difference... like in my breathing. I had to think about it and then I told her "I can sing better!". She cracked up! It was funny because just a day before, I picked up my guitar and started singing a song and I noticed I could hold my notes so much longer than when I smoked. Yup, vaping has surely made a difference in my lung capacity! Uhhhh, I don't sing any better, but I can sing badly for a longer time!

As for coughing up junk... I smoked for 48 years and in my morning showers, I definitely coughed up junk. No more junk now! :toast:

I'd have to say that you probably didn't smoke long enough to notice much difference in how you feel. I started smoking when I was 10, and remember well that when I was at the age of 19-23 that I was at my peak in every way. You should count your blessings my friend, that you aren't like some of us who smoked all our lives and are now in our 50's and 60's. I can only wish I was as lucky as you are to have found a way to escape the terrible health effects of smoking so soon after starting.

really disappointed because I feel exactly the same, maybe I didn't smoke long enough? (about 6 years 10-20 a day), anybody else noticed this?

Whether you feel the difference or not, your body is thanking you for quitting. In addition, your non smoking family and friends probably appreciate it, as well.

Right now I have a chest cold that I learned from here can happen after quitting smoking. Other than that... My tastebuds are recovering, my endurance while working out at the gym or MMA class has increased and my sense of smell has returned. I wander out to the smoke hole to talk to friends and have to up wind of the ash trays.

Smoked for 20 years and unfiltered for the last ten.

Sense of smell, still zero.
Sense of taste, some improvement.
Lungs feel much better. I don't cough to the point of barfing in the morning.
I feel like I have more lung capacity.
I don't stink.

That's about it. Some guy said his willy got bigger after he stopped smoking but I haven't noticed anything down there... Increased oxygen in the blood leads to better circulation yadda yadda yadda.

First off congrats on hitting 23 days.

I too did not notice a magical change or anything like that just little things. I can run to the T and only take a minute to catch my breath. If I don't vape while walking up hills and so forth I don't get hard of breath any more (for a very short amount of time vape can effect airways, but it is not considered a danger unlike with smokes). I also notice that my coffee grounds really do stink up my garbage can, never noticed that before :(. Little things that grow over time as our bodies recover from years of abuse.

You may never notice a giant difference like someone who smoked for 30+ years, but you will at least avoid the damage that makes these changes so noticeable :)
